ive also been to Batur but i didnt climb it. was watching it from another mountain nearby that had an view over Batur and the lake. very nice

just saw the sunrise, and you are indeed in Batur. The explosion you reference must have been Agung's though, unless the mini-cone inside the Batur crater erupted then too.

I think you've mixed up Batur with Agung. Agung, the one you climb in the film, blew up in 1963.

Batur, the one with the lake, has ben dormant a long time.

Nice video of volcano. Would you know of any video on climbing the Mt. Mayon or volcano in Luzon islands. Tall tropical trees and rare species atop and on mountainsides on the climb way to top. Missing much Mayon's famous perfect cone, base to top. Erupts huge 10 yrs apart.
