"Bunessan" is a Gaelic tune that was first published (melody only) in Lachlan Macbean's Songs and Hymns of the Gael (1888) as a setting for Mary Macdonald's carol "Child in the Manger." The tune is named after Macdonald's birthplace on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. "Bunessan" is also well known as the setting for Eleanor Farjeon's "Morning Has Broken" (1931), published in many hymnals and widely popularized by Cat Stevens, who recorded an arrangement of the tune in 1971.
I had the honor of singing this at of my great aunt's funeral, with my dad playing on guitar. it was a very sad day but I'm so glad I could contribute something beautiful in honor of her memory. RIP.
You should be aware that Cat / Yusuf supports terrorism.. Cat betrayed the world when he performed at HAMAS fund-raisers (disguised as Islamic Charities - money traced to Al Qaida) ,
Cat openly and on-film agreed with Iran's "fatwa" by to kill an author of a book, (Salman Rushdie), and Yusuf has donated tens of thousands of his own cash to HAMAS charities ( the money traced to weapons ). This is even more betraying , because Cat previously wrote "Peace Train" ! (B4 he converted )
This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music and words and always sends shivers. I'm using it for my Year 5/6 students to help them feel a a sense of wonder which is so far from their understanding in these days of technology.

This is a Scottish hymn - it's very old, and it's name is Budessan. What all you learn when you become an Affinity Scot!

Interesting choice for a Christian channel.
Yusuf Islam, or Cat Stevens, has unapologetically financed international terrorism.
He is not allowed to enter the United States as a result.

It is still considered a Christian hymn by many. Besides, Cat Stevens was not the one who wrote the lyrics although it became popular because of him.

Please accept my most humbly offered apology, required as a result of my own personal stupidity and lack of due diligence.
I didn't know Cat Stevens did anyone else's stuff.
Thank you for setting me straight sister, and now I can even enjoy the song again!
