Maybe not in the UK but over here this band is under appreciated and disrespected in that they do not get the recognition they deserve. They had just as much if not more talent than even the Police and were under contract with IRS which was run by Miles Copeland, Stewarts brother. They got caught up in the wash of New Wave bands following the Clash, Police, REM, Go-Go's, Echo, Oingo, and on and on. Alone, they would have made a much bigger mark.
the synth rips in this.what a great band.cant mess with squeeze.not alot of bands out there like em.they may try but they cant touch squeeze, not even close.
Police accused of being fearful in tackling culprits over citys growing toll of racial assaults THE number of white victims of racist attacks in a Yorkshire city has risen 30 per cent in a year to more than 300 and police have been accused of being afraid to take on the culprits
It's always so interesting to see how shockingly eclectic a top 10 hit in 1979 could be (at least in the UK). This song is all over the place and way better for it (Giorgio Moroder-esque synths, octave-separated chorus, half-rhymes, a bit of two-tone, etc, but the song is totally hetero and laddish in lyrical content) Make me sad that this was their last "wacky" single.
I love it! I wonder if they did their photo shoot for Argybargy on the same day they shot this footage. Glenn is wearing the same hat as is Chris and Jools was wearing the same tie. Great stuff from a great time in my life.
I wish that I had heard about squeeze when I was a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's. I probably would have listened to them right along with Blondie and a few others back then but I didnt hear about them until an old friend made me a tape copy of singles 45 and under along with van morrison who I hadnt heard of back in 94.
Chris Difford looks more than fine to me here. I think Pete Doherty looks a bit like Chris did there! :) Not one of my favourite Squeeze songs, but still great, and I love seeing this clip. :)
What a great band they were! Their greatest hits album was one of the best of the 80s.

they seem like such a bunch of goofballs, and that is part of their appeal. fun music but very well-constructed fun

Nice to see Chris trying to cash in on the prevailing Two Tone vibe of the time with the pork pie hat and a bit of subdued "Nutty Boy" dancing!!

It isn't it. Real disco edge to it. Squeeze were ace, one of the last real eclectic pop bands.
