  • "one moment"

  • Spot, runter. Runter ist gut. Ober ist nein.

  • I LOVE SPOT!!!! makes me remind of my own totally un-trainable cats...How much love you give them doesn't matter to them : the owe you!!!

  • Dogs are friends, cats are the boss.

  • My cat does the same thing! Only, sometimes, I tell him to hold his horses.

  • Cat's can be trained, my sister taught her cat how to sit on command.

  • "... one moment..." XD

  • down is good. Up is no.

  • There used to be a cat that would hiss at me for no reason.

Then one day I got fed up and sucker punched it as I was walking by. Now the cat adores me. If that's not the mark of a stupid animal then nothing is.

  • @VotePaineJefferson you have asserted your domnace and the cat is now trying to pander to you so as not to be punched again

  • @VotePaineJefferson Id define a stupid animal as one who "suckerpunches" a small animal as they're walking by. Moron. I hope one day, someone suckerpunches you as they're walking by,so you can see how it feels.

  • @mlee2001 oh noez you're gonna sucker punch me now! *hiss*

Get a life bro, stop making out with your goat.

  • @VotePaineJefferson Spoken like a true stupid animal.

  • @VotePaineJefferson

You truly are a retarded individual.

  • @BljesakiOluja lol oh noez i r abusing animals over the internetz! lulz! you cannot stop me!

  • @VotePaineJefferson

Thanks for apsolutely proving mlees and my point.

  • @BljesakiOluja omg yes, you're so right! I have seen the error of my ways! Thanks for being so understanding and nonjudgmental! lol

  • Cats are bad-ass!

  • I don't know about Data's Spot, but my Spot is trained just fine. :)

You have to catch them early-- like before they're six months old. Hit them with the same repetition. Have the treats and the squirt bottle handy.

  • Why do they need 221 varieties of cat food?

  • @QuakeTotem Cats can be quite finicky.

  • @QuakeTotem Data pampered Spot and made all 221. that is one spoiled cat...

  • This is just like my cat.. XD

  • Up is no. Haha

  • A cat knows your every thought. It doesn't care, but it knows.

  • @DefconWarningSystem

    :O **looks at my cats**

  • 8 people have not been entirely successful.

  • @adamcel6 -lol

  • 8 people have not been entirely succesful

  • Any Man would be a Pussy's toy if necessary.

  • I can picture Data trying to teach his cat to use the console

  • KITTY!!!

  • Lol Spot definitely has Data wrapped around her little kitty toes....

  • Meow

    Data: Hmm?

    Meow.

    LoL

  • Reminds me of this one Garfield comic, where Garfield tells his owner, Jon, "You don't train cats. Cats train you!"

  • @MaximusRelaximus i think your just stupid, if you owned a cat for awhile then you would understand they are truly independent, me and my cat learned to eventually communicate like that, the cat would let me know when he was hungry or wanted out of the room when the door was shut but he even came to me when i called him.. most of the time anyway :P

bottom line is, dont talk about something like that unless you've had one before, a non-lazy one that is.

  • @billyboy385 That would be "you're," Sir Isaac Newton. And I already (duh) gave one obvious example of how being "independent" has at best zero correlation with intelligence, possibly a negative one. Also, I've owned both cats and dogs. Have a cat now simply because its former owner was no longer capable of caring for it. The dumbest dog I've had was laughably stupid, yet still smarter than the smartest cat I've owned. Yes, that's just my experience. It happens to be validated by science.

  • @MaximusRelaximus oh thank you for the correction, i'm glad it makes you feel smarter.

well thats your experience and you stand by it, i respect that.. however mine was different, i dont know if its from breeds or what but mine was a domesticated but free wildcat that has been living outside nearby for a few generations.

  • @billyboy385

My cat eats anything off the ground that he can get his paws on, whether it's food or not, meows all the time, and gets scared by ANYTHING. I'm not even kidding. I brought home a new hat the other day and he got scared of it. He's seen paper plates before, my dad was simply holding one and he hissed at it and ran.

    Not all cats are smart..

  • @AngelFluttershy767 how old are you? do i have to spoon feed you this? its not about that kinda thing, its about the cat getting what it wants and being smart about it, i'll agree with you though not all cats are smart about it but most are at least where i'm from where they may be a bit more wild then tame city cats :P

  • @MaximusRelaximus and I still love my cat, even if I wouldn't have taken him if not by necessity. That doesn't mean he's not an idiot. His goals in life are these, and in this order: sleep, poop, eat/drink, be petted, swat at dangling things. If he were smart enough to wish he were something else, it would be a dog, at minimum.

  • I taught my cat to use the console!!!

  • at least im not the only one who talks to my cat like a real person!!!

  • My cat had me well trained as well...

The worst was shampooing him. All the biting, scratching, plaintive wailing... and that was ME, lol! :P

  • cats aren't smart enough? their smart enough to train their owners so....

  • If you think about it, i'm sure data can understand what spot is saying when he meows etc.

  • Notice that the best two characters in Star Trek history (Spock and Data, OF COURSE) are both cat people. Coincidence. I think NOT

    (...that and Tribbles...) <3

  • Oh Data. That look on his face at the end *kills* me. <3

  • this is just the cutest moment, I would just watch this over and over again, esp. 1:34. data is one of my fav chacaters.

  • Spot is so cute!

  • Comment removed

  • I remember when i first saw this episode i laughed so hard at Geordy's line. Classic!

  • Cats put up with us because they know their ancestors ate ours.

  • Dogs have owners. Cats have staff.

  • @kantlavar no, cats have slaves ;-)

  • @kantlavar SO true!!

  • @kantlavar Yup, but me and my family get payed with their irresistible comfort and socialization. That's what makes it impossible to become the owner of a cat.

  • @kantlavar

    cats have human armies

  • I like how the reading raimbow guys in there. Its RANDOM

  • that's so funny. someone's not smart enough.

  • 1:41-1:46

    Cats are good at that.

  • omg thanks for the subtitles :))))

  • Even Commander "I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations" Data says things like "Up is NO" when confronted by a kitty.

  • anyone else want to way in on the data is hot or animals pwn the people who 'own' them phone polls lol yes we get it everyone (even me) wanted data in their bed and everyone (even me) get's pwnd by the pet ok now the adult whining is done... oh data is so dam smexy, and who hasn't been well trained by the pet in the house doesn't even have to be your pet just needs to be in or near the house i guarantee it has you trained even wild animals... what YOU fuck with grizzly bears? i didn't think so.

  • @Master0of0Blades are you drunk?

  • @TheSpiritDennyColt no just more fun than you.

  • I can definitely relate to Data in this video :-) I just got my very first kitten last week, and the more time I spend training him, the more I think he is training me. He wakes me up at 7, and I know he wants his food; he just looks at me, and I know to move over on the couch for him...these are just a few of the recent occurrences, lol.

  • @DolphinSweetie Tell me about it. My cat wakes me up at 6 in the morning to feed him. After a few hours comes at my door miawing. So, I go after him. The funny thing is that he looks back to see if i follow him to his water pot. Then after a few hours he comes back at my door, miawing again. He wants in my room. A few hours later he wants outside and so on. But I love him very much.

  • Lol. Did they have one cat for the role of Spot or were there more?

  • i have super vague memories from childhood thinking he was the gentlest, most awesome dude ever. and he's fully functional ;0

  • data is the love of my life

  • Like every cat owner, soon Data will be well trained.

  • Dogs think "You give me food and shelter, you must be a god". Cats think "You give me food and shelter, I must be a god"

  • @Venn64

    AMen!

  • @Venn64 That's pretty funny:)

  • I love how Data understands what Spot is communicating. LOL :)

  • Dogs come when you call them. Cats take a message and get back to you later.

Or: You don't train the cat, the cat trains you.

  • Nah, Spot's intelligent enough to know the right responses to said commands...she's just a cat. and Cats are the most stubborn creatures in the world speaking from my experience lol. You don't train them, they train you XD

  • I wish Data were real XD i'd love to meet him! LOL he's so CUTE

  • @MelodySaki

I should clarify: By cute, I mean he's so innocently adorable XD

  • did anyone notice the data took the string spot was playing with along with him?

  • @Bluestarlightgate no he didn't... he dropped it on the floor

  • I just realized that he asked for "feline supplement number 221". Another Sherlock Holmes reference? :]

  • Spoiler alert! Spot is a Shapeshifter.

  • I know what that's like. See, my dad has a puppy that has a mind of her own and doesn't listen to anything.

  • There has to be a reason why they flip between she and he...because the actors are far too smart to not notice that. It is amusing. You can teach a cat to sit. I taught mine to sit.

  • This is up. Up is no.

  • "Down is good, up is NO."

  • 0:22 - 0:28

    thats what she said :P

  • Pfft. "Lack the necessary intelligence?" Cats are TOO intelligent to follow petty human commands like "sit." Just ask them nicely and they'll listen ^.^

  • I have not been... entirely successful......

  • So true if you have cats. I love my kitty though, he has trained me to let him in at 5:00 AM Earth time with a unique meal.

  • it sounds like the cat sais down

  • lol i'd just like to point out that the difficulty in training cats doesn't have anything to do with intelligence--they're very smart, but because they evolved as solitary creatures they do not respond to commands well.

Dogs are different, they were once pack animals and so therefore respond to an authority figure or pack leader.

  • hahahaha! You don't own cats, they own YOU!? lol!

  • just like my cat.

  • up is no! lol

  • Not for nothing, but that poor cat was held high by its ribs and not supported at all and was probably traumatized, see the episode, it was trying to kick off worf. Anyway, with proper support, any cat will do a fine job with Star Trek, which I enjoy. The last movie was pretty cool, but they could have left time warps and duality out, for it was kick a-- in every other way. Peace. Ill Cat.

  • lmao

  • 1:27 Actually, it's that cats are so smart they act stupid in order to get what they want. Poor Data doesn't understand the ways of the cat. So adorable!

  • Data could train me if he liked... *mind slips into gutter* LOL I'm watching this episode on SyFy right now.

  • LOL, Brent hates cats.

  • @Wyrmshadow YOU DREAM CRUSHERRRR! D:

  • @Wyrmshadow Brent dosen't hate cats, he just hated working with them.

  • it looks like spot the kitty is changing in some epesods

  • i believe 3 cats have played spot

  • I love how he tells the cat one moment lol

  • after this video watch "fan cat"

  • 1:33 It would be funny if Data said Hmm? And spot meowed then data kicks his cat across the room pass gordies head.

I laugh my head off thinking about it!

  • I just realized that your title is SPOT has DATA trained. :D haha

  • The title is Spot has data trained because data isn't training the cat, the cat is teaching Data what the appropriate response is when spot does something.

    XD

  • Right, I know. I just read it the other way around and when I saw the clip, I realized what it actually said and it made me laugh. It made more sense that way.

  • This is down. Down is good.

  • Reminds me of whenever my cat gets on the table. I tell her to get down and she decides to lay on the table and sleep. Cats are great pets but... they sure as Hell don't like to listen.

  • What is the cat "Spot" when it is stripped brown?

  • I like... haiku.

  • This reminds me of Jethro teaching Duke to Fetch a stick!

  • Data is adorable.

  • This is my theory on the "changes of Spot". I would say that Data has owned three cats, however, because he lacks an imagination, he called all of them "Spot".

  • @Treemeadow So... er... what happened to Spots I and II?

  • ...we try not to think about that.

  • This is such a hilarious clip! I'm new to TNG but already Data is my favorite. Maybe it's because he is so vulnerable to these amusing occurences...

    Spot: "Meow."

    Data: "Hmm?"

    Spot: "Meow!"

Data: "Hm." (gets ball of string for demanding kitty)

    I LOVE IT! xD

  • Aww, I love how he talks to Spot as if she were a person.

    "One moment."

    LOL, so adorable!!!!!!!! X}

  • @mtrekdata42 thats how i talk to my cats. the cool thing is if u do it anuff u lern a little cat and thay lern some english. u should see my cats when there hungry.

    fooood food out

  • Clever cat. :3

  • but in another ep about dreams. he is refered to most definitely as he

  • down is good XD that made my day !

    thank you !

  • up is no!

  • If you're training a cat not to go on the console, putting the cat on the console probably isn't the most effective way to go about it.

  • no one owns a cat.

  • thats so true.

btw didnt spot used to be a boy

  • Spot.... Runter! :D

  • lol! he got spots paw caught on the ledge

  • I had a cat growing up who was exactly the same way. She was even a mackeral tabby like Spot was. Only Maggie was a black Mackeral. I miss my kitty.

  • I'm sorry for that...my family had a cat since before I was born who died a few years ago, I know the feeling :(

  • I appreciate that, thank you.

  • my rodents love number 5, 7 and 11 LOL had to try out like Data^^

btw, to YuyuPrincess411- it were actually 6 different cats they used, Spot was even pregnant LOL glad Data had the same gender all along...now THAT would be weird!

  • Is Spot a him or a her? They refer to spot as a her in this clip but I saw another one where Data asks Worf to take care of "him".... o.o

  • they use different cats, lol did u know *he* was even pregnant at one point. xD

  • Well, even if they did use different cats they should keep the cat's role in the show, Spot, a single gender, even when the cat's replaced several times... maybe the scene with Worf was a mistake in the script...

  • well it IS the 24th century maybe spot had an operation xD (JK, sorry this is me @ 3 am lol)

  • that always got me mixed up

  • i want the cat food at the supermarkets to say

FELINE SUPPLEMENT *number* on all of them XD so much cooler

  • in germany in pet stores food has numbers, you put it in a plastic bag, weight it and pay them in kilogram like fruits LOL maybe in the future it´s all with voice-control like in TNG ;-p

  • Lol

  • Actually I believe the litter gets recycled in the replicator.

  • "One moment, Spot". LOL, Data is fully trained.

  • show me a dog or cat that don't have their owner trained!!

    Great clip! Thanks for posting!!

  • Up is "NO" :D

  • down is good

  • up is no

  • TOO CUTE! =D

Spot Down. Down is good. Up is no. XD

  • mew mew mew mew im spot l i love that little thing lol

  • [Door chimes]

    Data (to Spot): One moment...

    HA!

  • Data's cat is very strange. It needs 220+ types of cat food, changed sex several times, changed from a long-hair to short-haired cat between episodes, and NEVER SHITS ANYWHERE!

  • I'd love a cat that never shits LOL

  • Seriously, where does he keep the litter tray????

  • Maybe it gets beamed out into space O.o

  • damn... Spot must be eating some weird shit if Data came up with 221 types of cat food.

  • Why doesn't he just use a spray bottle? That's what i use to protect myself from the neighbor's cat.

  • Do they always dangle that poor cat like that? XD

  • Spot...Down.

    This is down.

    Down is good.

    This is up.

    Up is no.

  • Brent Spiner actually hates cats. In one of the movies, he finds spot under receckage, and spiner asked "the cat? can't I just find Geordie or someone else?" Spiner hated cats... but you can't tell that when he played data. This is one of my favorites scenes

  • Well i know all that but are they gonna decide if it's a guy or a girl?

  • Spot blew the male role when 'she' had kittens.

  • @thwyter KEK, Spot the shape-shifting Kitteh! XD

  • @thwyter

True, but she was an iguana at the time.

    ;)
