I still miss # 31 behind the plate. Its just not the same met team without him behind it. He created so much magic and so much excitement. He better go in to the hall as a Met.
Mike Piazza! I remember this game. I was 14, i went to his last game at Shea. I was crying, I'll never forget your 9/11 home run, even more with the 10 year anniversary coming up... your the best Mike
Only game I ever went to alone. It meant that much for me to be there and root on Mike. I teared up at his first at bat. It was the playing of his song that did it to me.
I miss MP, AND I miss Shea. The new "Jackie Robinson/Dodgers stadium" just doesn't do it for me. There is NOTHING to reflect "Mets" inside that place. At least they have Shea's old "home plate" mounted in the PARKING LOT. I also saw Mike's return and was thrilled that Mets management saw fit to play his music. MP's repeated hat doffing showed that he was thrilled too. Sad that he doesn't have a current affiliation with the Mets. He should.
It's interesting to note also that Piazza has always been a big wrestling fan. So one of the reasons why his choice of song was "Voodoo Child" could've been because it was the song Hulk Hogan used to come out to when he was in WCW/nWo as "Hollywood" Hogan.
I was at this game in the field level, and the emotions I felt at this game were unbelievable. I almost cried it was so great. New York loves this man, more than any other person. I mean, there is NO ONE that would ever have received such an ovation at Shea except for Mike. Great video, Let's Go Mets!
What a crazy feeling that must be for Mike. Such a great guy. I hope he reitres so #31 can go up on the wall at Shea where it should go. Sure it'll be nice if they have to retire it at citi field, but it belongs at shea.
I was at that game, it was so sick. The next day he hit 2 home runs I believe. After the first one everyone in the stadium went nuts, but after the second I think everyone was jokingly booing him.
Mets fans love Keith, Doc, Kid, Straw, Rusty, Kooz, Ed, and Buddy, but Piazza and Seaver ARE the mets.

In my opinion, Mike Piazza, is the single most beloved Met next to Tom Seaver. Sorry, Keith. But you come in third.
