I have no problem with your opinion, and I agree that artists should be supported. However, you have an industry where they take a large majority of the profit of record sales. This is just pure fact; see Radiohead's release strategy for In Rainbows.
Piracy is a necessary thing until the music business realizes what it's truly about: the artists and the fans. MOST artists tend to agree and see the potential. Hell, even if people pirate albums, they can't pirate going to live gigs.
@horohorosrin :: the music industry is changing, that's for sure.. the old model of sales is obviously fading, it's already hard to find many artists CD's in stores, usually have to buy online. And sure, the really big labels/artists pay huge amounts to the label and it's Exec's. But we still need to support the artists you love by buying their music. Like Radiohead... pay what you can or like, or buy MP3 or iTunes online, or buy direct from artist website or buy streaming music like Rhapsody...
what a fantastic and huge record collection!!Robin Trower kicks maximum booty!are all the songs played on here from the actual vinyl!no kiss?!i know, they're not for everyone......
It sux because were I live theres no record stores the nearest one is 5 hour to were I live I pretty much have to steal music.. I live in a shithole with 300 population... awesome collection.
I feel for you, yes, but you can still buy (support the artists) what you like. With streaming media, radio, some band web sites etc you can sample various artists before you buy... and then buy MP3 per song (I've been using Amazon instead of iTUnes). And/or buy the CD and have it mailed... even here in Phoenix a music store rarely has what I'm looking for (unless it's very mainstream... anyway, just my thoughts, my point is "i love music" and we should support the artists, thanks for looking :)
thanks ill totally check though sites out. I used to buy cds from columbia house in canada but I told them to stop mailing the magazines because they started selling the more mainsteam bands fallout boy & that lady gaga... we should support the artists. they work really worked hard for there great songs.
I own all these albums. I used to make copies or single song copy to cassette tape when that was the medium of choice. Actually, before cassettes, I made some copies to reel-to-tape! And then to 4-track and then to 8-track and then to cassette and now to MP3 or AAC. ALL of this I own the original and do give away or sell for profit. When the next format comes along (you think this is the end?!) I'll transfer it again to a "light cube" or whatever the format of choice is in 2020. Search copyright
cool collection? was dark side in there or did i just miss it. i don't mind buying a disk here and there still, but sometimes, i HAVE to download cause i can't get it any other way.
Dark Side is at 2:44... one of the best albums ever for sure. A big break for Pink Floyd, if you listen to their work before The Dark Side like Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother... not as ... commercial
wow! you're really paying attention! IT was kinda overplayed at the time and I just never got it then...but great stuff looking back on it now, for sure. Good call! I'll have to add that to my "want list"...
When I see great vinyl collections like yours (in front if which I repeat my bow) I always pay attention for I'm a lover of true music like you... and also I'm an ex-drummer.
thx for comments... I absolutely loved Black Sabbath back when vinyl ruled... very ground breaking stuff in those days. Tony Iommi was an exceptional guitarist.
Man you've got quite an array of music that looks to me to span more than a few generations, got to love albums though, the best ever format for music.
I could perhaps understand if people where selling the music for a profit or if the music was stolen and then shared, but I don't agree that sharing, even on the international level, is stealing. If someone buys a CD, and said CD allows for that to save it to their computer and they share it with other people and don't make a profit of the CD and if the network doesn't make a profit of of the CD then I don't consider it stealing or think the companies have the right to sue other people.
I think this one your asking about is the blues lick? VERY GREAT STUFF! You gotta get some Hot Tuna, this is "Shuggie's Shuffle", I believe. (also not on this mix but listen to Hesitation Blues)
I was thinking about this last night... I think it is "Shuggie's Shuffle" but on "Super Session" album w/ Mike Bloomfield and Shuggie Otis. Yet another great album! The Hesitation Blues is by Hot Tuna, and ya gotta find that and listen to it also. Nice blues piece.
2:20 is probably the "Bridge of Sighs" by Robin Trower, which leads to Little Red Riding Hood, by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs. (The 1966 hit song takes the Wolf's point of view, implying that he wants love rather than blood.)3:00 is Something in the Air by Thunderclap Newman
12. Hawaii Blue: Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen
13: Blues Power: Derek and the Dominos(?) Eric Clapton
14: Purple People Eater: Sheb Wooly (a novelty song that reached #1 in the Billboard pop charts in 1958. The song has sold over one hundred million copies.)
15: Heartbreak Hotel: Elvis (first #1 pop record by "E")
WOW! Good eyes to pick that out... I think I actually got that from a radio station and I knew one of the DJ's, they were cleaning house and I got turned on to a lot of good stuff!
There are 55 total sound bytes... the first 5 are:
1) back in black: AC DC
2) big 10 inch: aerosmith
3) school's out: alice cooper
4) the witch doctor: David Seville (trivia: "Witch Doctor" is a song written and performed by Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. (a.k.a. David Seville) and was released in 1958. David Seville is better remembered as the creator of Alvin and the Chipmunks."
8) I can help: billy swan (Swan recorded the song in two takes (without overdubs) with an organ that Kristofferson and singer Rita Coolidge had bought for him as a wedding gift.)
9) rawhide: blues bros
10) minnie the moocher: cab calloway (The song is based both musically and lyrically on Frankie "Half-Pint" Jaxon's 1927 "Willie the Weeper" The lyrics are heavily laden with drug references.)
One benefit of being old (50's) is I bought a lot of these new :-) Go to garage sales, it's AMAZING what you can get for 50 cents or a dollar. I try to only get excellent condition albums now. And I convert some to my ipod (see one of my other videos).
Thanks, I LOVE music, play a little guitar, like to share my favorite artist and songs with others. I'm stuck a little with the "oldies" but that's what I grew up with.
