This character was so contrived, too deliberately weird for Six Feet Under, it just didn't work, I'm glad he didn't last long, maybe the producers realised their mistake. He just didn't fit.
he absolutely did work in it. think of all the weirder shit that happened with the other characters in it. lisa banging her sister's husband for one? never once in her character's personality did she ever portray to be someone who'd do that. if anything is unrealistic and crazy with this show, that'd be one of em. but thats just my opinion and i love it all the same.
Another reason why RAINN WILSON is one of my favorite actors of all time.
...and lol, did the lady get turned on thinking about him yelling at her? (I have watched multiple scenes from Six Feet Under and I forgot her name, sorry.)
@switchcomb I loved that scene, and you're right. She was intimidated by Martin because he was such a sincere, but intense personality for Ruth. This scene was as funny as another fantasy scene from that season where Nate buys some CD's at a music store using his credit card but renegs after having a terrifying vision of his wife (Lisa) finding out about the purchase.
It is very believable that someone so seemingly moral and grounded would have an affair with her brother in law and keep it secret. Human beings constantly contradict themselves with their behaviour. It happens all the time. But the character of Arthur tried too hard to be the oddball which rendered him false and unbelievable, and was the only jarring element to an almost flawless series. Not the actor's fault, he was only doing what was asked of him, but the series really didn't need it.
LMAO! She felt guilty because she WAS stalking him that morning.
