Its supported in the scrpitures i listed and many more such as, 2 Chronicles 5:14, John 18:6, Revelations 1:17, Numbers 22:31, Acts 9:3-4. @Adonomos I agree my relationship and my walk with God is much deeper than just speaking in tongues and goosebumps. But speaking in tongues is part of the experience. Everyone is going to have a different experience while serving the Lord. You can't put the Lord in a box and say okay this is His parimeters. God cannot and will not be put in a box.

I would really like to point out that mark 16:17 it says that speaking in tongues WILL accompany those who believe. however that it is not essential. make sure that your read more than just the passages that fit your point. i believe that to be slain in the Spirit is an overcharge of being filled with the Spirit to the point of exhaustion. however i have never seen anyone dance or shake like this.

It doesnt say they fell especially as described as slain in the spirit. No where does it say anyone 'fell' down. I wonder if the apostles had to shake the living daylights out of someone to "receive the holy spirit" (i.e., speaking in tongues) as they do in UPC churches? This belief is in direct conflict with the rest of scripture regarding salvation of the new covenant found through the new testament. As Ephesians 1:13-14 states rather clearly that those who believe are sealed with the Holy Spirit upon hearing the message of truth. The UPC church is a stumbling block and leads many astray.

Mat 1:22-23 speaks of a prophecy that was made in Isa 7:14 and claims that it is being fulfilled. However, If you will read Isa 7:1-25 you will clearly see that it is impossible for Isa 7:14 to be referring to what is written about in Mat 1:22-23.

I have prayed behind close doors and the spirit of the Lord fell on me while I was getting up from my knees and stretched out I layed adoring the presence of the Lord. The Holy Spirit is a gentle spirit, I agree and is a gentleman. There are reasons Revelation speaks of different churches and their lack of understanding as well as Apostle Paul ministering to different churches but the spirit of God my God how sweet he is.

Ok, so you are saying that not all have to speak in tongues to be baptised in the Holy Spirit. Let me ask you; how many times this month has your church had: a word of knowledge, gifts of healing, miracles, word of wisdom, prophecy (foretelling not just forth)? I would if I were you continue to read and pray about why in all 4 Gospels there is this verse: "I baptise you with water, but one comes after me and he will baptise you in the Holy Sprit". Acts 1 Jesus says the same thing! First 5 books
@TheRogerSweeney Baptism in water is a symbol to others to show your conversion and love for Jesus Christ. The man on the cross next to Jesus was not baptized yet he went to heaven. NOT one place in the Bible does it say that you MUST be even water baptized let alone baptized in the holy spirit as it is used today. When You accept Jesus You are baptized with his holy spirit. PERIOD. Tongues is an abomination against God all mighty as it is being used today.
Although we should not judge non believers, Paul says that we should judge those who are in the community of believers. In 1 Corinthians Paul deals with a young man who had sexual intercourse with his father's wife. And so Paul instructed the church to remove the man from among them. Being "slain by the Spirit" is not AT ALL scriptural. Watching those videos deeply concerned me. That is not of Christ.

The accurate use of tongues was for non believers but it is not needed today. Now we are taught many languages. God gives those people the ability to learn those languages to interpret scripture for all languages in the world.How hard is it to understand the the bible is clear on having an interpreter? BHinn prophesied and it not come to pass and he talked to the dead and he has even ignored people that wanted healing and they were pushed away from the stage. I have seen people get slained in the spirit, and it looks nothing like this video made it out to look like.I believe the physical body is overpowered by the presence of God and falls to the floor (I've only seen people fall backwards) and it sort of looks like they're sleeping or something.It looks nothing like a seizure.And they wake up within a few minutes with a love for God.The people in this video might've unknowingly been under a demonic spirit.Let God be the judge.

The Holy Ghost is such a joyful experience. Why wouldn't you want it. Ask God for it and he WILL give it to you. Do what Acts 2:38 says. Why wouldn't anyone want an extra gift from God. I think you should pray for a revolution. Even Saul, who thought he was doing God's work by slaying Christians, was reformed by God. You are no better than he by twisting the word of God in order to make believers falter. There's nothing wrong for one to pray with another to receive the Spirit ("where 2 or more are gathered in My name..."). I would really like to point out that mark 16:17 it says that speaking in tongues WILL accompany those who believe. however that it is not essential. make sure that your read more than just the passages that fit your point. i believe that to be slain in the Spirit is an overcharge of being filled with the Spirit to the point of exhaustion. however i have never seen anyone dance or shake like this.

It doesnt say they fell especially as described as slain in the spirit. No where does it say anyone 'fell' down. The only scripture clearly speaks of someone getting down on their face not falling back and it has always been under their control. Often being told to stand.Eze 2:2 for example.

I wonder if the apostles had to shake the living daylights out of someone to "receive the holy spirit" (i.e., speaking in tongues) as they do in UPC churches? This belief is in direct conflict with the rest of scripture regarding salvation of the new covenant found through the new testament. As Ephesians 1:13-14 states rather clearly that those who believe are sealed with the Holy Spirit upon hearing the message of truth. The UPC church is a stumbling block and leads many astray.

The speaking in tongues is speaking in another language Peter didn't speak to the large crowd from other nations babbling around. NO. They were hearing the WORD of GOD in their own native LANGUAGE. that is the true definition of speaking in tongues. Paul says to Timothy in 1st Timothy 6:20 to shun profane and idle BABBLINGS. Mat 1:22-23 speaks of a prophecy that was made in Isa 7:14 and claims that it is being fulfilled. However, If you will read Isa 7:1-25 you will clearly see that it is impossible for Isa 7:14 to be referring to what is written about in Mat 1:22-23.
Why do I say that? Read Isa 7:16, also pay attention to the beginning of that chapter and you will see that the prophet actually gives a time frame for the prophecy to occur.

Most of the clips shown here are done by known false teachers, who do it more for show than for glorifying Christ Jesus.
It's possible to be on the ground ("slain") rolling, laughing, or crying through the Holy Spirit. This is common in countries outside the Western world, China, India, etc. (like the clip of the tribe in remote outer reaches of India with the women rolling on the floor)

It is obvious that many people, sometimes even great Saints, are never given notable consolations in their Faith, much less extraordinary manifestations of the Holy Ghost. To say that an unbaptized person who has experienced this "Baptism in the Holy Spirit" is somehow as close to God as (or even closer than) a pious, baptized Catholic who has never had such an experience is clearly absurd.

This is very informative and scriptural, coming out of the Apostolic churches, most things are based upon emotion and not according to scripture as receiving the Holy Ghost and keep in mind that the Holy Ghost is Power in Control, Very Excellent to who made this!

This video implies that all Pentecostals and/or charismatics fall down and lose control when slain. This is not true. Just as in the scriptural references that were used, many people just fall... period. They, too, are in awe. They describe it as a time of the Lord revealing things to them, or healing them.

Is their controversy..naysaying, or bickering? Do people speak with tongues under their own control or as God gives utterance..or as God takes control. Demons are not the only spirits who are known to take control. Where they not singing and praising the Lord and speaking with tongues? What part of this is not biblical?

well according to the BIBLE, the apostles were FILLED with the Holy Ghost, and to make it short, they "...speak in our tounges... "(Acts 2:11). This is a fact that everyone in their time UNDERSTOOD the MESSAGE that the apostles were saying.

I have prayed behind close doors and the spirit of the Lord fell on me while I was getting up from my knees and stretched out I layed adoring the presence of the Lord. The Holy Spirit is a gentle spirit, I agree and is a gentleman. There are reasons Revelation speaks of different churches and their lack of understanding as well as Apostle Paul ministering to different churches but the spirit of God my God how sweet he is.

It says very clearly that the disciples fell on their faces, as if bowing and humbling themselves in reverence and fear. Why then do Pentecostals always fall backwards and shake convulse? When the Spirit of God falls on me, I drop to my knees and humble myself. I don't swoon backwards like a bad soap opera actor fainting onstage and make a spectacle of myself.

Rhondann. Are you aware of the "unpardonable sin". Jesus explained it . You can Blaspheme the Father and the Son but if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit (calling the works of the Holy Spirit, the works of Satan) this sin will not be forgiven! Please be careful, God is so Gracious so Im sure ignorance of the things of the Holy Spirit will not be "unforgivin" I trust. Read Mark 3:28-29

Read acts 10:44 to 11, ten years after the day of Pentecost gentiles were baptised in the H.s see what happened, read Acts 19:1-7 some Baptists were baptised in the H'S' 20 years after the day of Pentecost, see what happened: I am Pentecostal to my soul and I love you very much. Ok, so you are saying that not all have to speak in tongues to be baptised in the Holy Spirit. Let me ask you; how many times this month has your church had: a word of knowledge, gifts of healing, miracles, word of wisdom, prophecy (foretelling not just forth)? I would if I were you continue to read and pray about why in all 4 Gospels there is this verse: "I baptise you with water, but one comes after me and he will baptise you in the Holy Sprit". Acts 1 Jesus says the same thing! First 5 books

@TheRogerSweeney Baptism in water is a symbol to others to show your conversion and love for Jesus Christ. The man on the cross next to Jesus was not baptized yet he went to heaven. NOT one place in the Bible does it say that you MUST be even water baptized let alone baptized in the holy spirit as it is used today. When You accept Jesus You are baptized with his holy spirit. PERIOD. Tongues is an abomination against God all mighty as it is being used today.

Although we should not judge non believers, Paul says that we should judge those who are in the community of believers. In 1 Corinthians Paul deals with a young man who had sexual intercourse with his father's wife. And so Paul instructed the church to remove the man from among them. Being "slain by the Spirit" is not AT ALL scriptural. Watching those videos deeply concerned me. That is not of Christ.

When Paul said don't get drunk but be filled with the spirit, the pun was 100% intentional!
He was saying we can be drunk in the spirit. This video is biased. I am a pentecostal. I don't chase the wacky. Resting in Gods spirit seems to deepen the persons walk with God. Judge by their fruit, which is good. People dont lose control, that is a misnomer. People just get happy. Happiness is good. Not a law though, we are all diff. not for everyone. Blessings.

The accurate use of tongues was for non believers but it is not needed today. Now we are taught many languages. God gives those people the ability to learn those languages to interpret scripture for all languages in the world.How hard is it to understand the the bible is clear on having an interpreter? How hard is it to understand that God said it is used for the Non Believer?Today it is used so incorrectly that doing this actually chases away perspective Christians.Will they not think you MAD?

@vavavoom41 The miracle was never performed though. Binny Hinn was never called by God which is probably what went very wrong. BHinn prophesied and it not come to pass and he talked to the dead and he has even ignored people that wanted healing and they were pushed away from the stage. Something is going very wrong with this movement. I am sure that there are good Pentecostals I just have never been to a Pentecostal church that did not act disorderly. Not to this degree though. I think those who judge are being very unchristian. Who's to say that when Judgment Day comes, Jesus won't say to you to get away from Him? We are not to judge another person's salvation. Keep track of you're own salvation instead of condemning someone else's.

I have seen people get slained in the spirit, and it looks nothing like this video made it out to look like.I believe the physical body is overpowered by the presence of God and falls to the floor (I've only seen people fall backwards) and it sort of looks like they're sleeping or something.It looks nothing like a seizure.And they wake up within a few minutes with a love for God.The people in this video might've unknowingly been under a demonic spirit.Let God be the judge.

I can promise you all that being Slain in the Spirit is no deception, no spirit of the devil or any such thing. at our revival this week I saw it done close to 20 times, I'd never seen any such thing before! One man who couldnt walk and was stuck in a wheel chair was slain while sitting, and then stood up and walked back to his piew where he stood for the remainder of the service!

The Holy Ghost is such a joyful experience. Why wouldn't you want it. Ask God for it and he WILL give it to you. Do what Acts 2:38 says. Why wouldn't anyone want an extra gift from God. And why wouldn't you want to speak in another language praising God and saying mysteries about him. All of the Bible is true. Not just part of it

@MPStreLLo cuz its crap..that's why..there's no reason to speak in another silly language to worship God...maybe some people DONT want it...if not for the fact that its just weird and fanatical and extremist..I went to a church that preached "slain in the spirit" and 'tongues" and all this other unnecessary garbage...and believe me..that changed my mind FOREVER about church..so I no longer go to church..that one scarred me for life!!!

I don't want this gift if this is what you call a gift and speaking in another language does not excite me either.Sounds like most of the gift are created to help other people. why is tongues all about ME ME ME and does nothing to help another person. The gifts are not given to make you edify yourself. Name one that does that? yet tongues is used improperly and not as the gift was intended. There is a definition for tongues, Known Language- to help others

Dude when a person receieves The Holy Ghost there is a direct encounter with God because God takes control and does what he needs to do.... The power is sometimes so great that people fall down, The Holy Ghost is not just a conscience but everything. It tells me what to teach, preach, everything, read Acts and the whole Bible and you will understand. God is so Powerful.

I was skeptic until i experienced a move of God, which you are calling being "slain in the spirit". A woman minister prayed for a lot of people in a prayer line, when she got to me she simply pointed her finger at me and I felt myself falling. I no longer had physical control over my knees to keep myself in a standing position. Even if i had not wanted to fall I had no power to stay standing. I got zapped by God. Afterwards the knee pain in my right knee was gone. Its awsome when god moves

I used to go to a Pentecostal, Charismatic church I left it because I could not find the slain the spirit doctrine of men in the bible, its an insult to the Spirit of the living God........................

Rather than call people idiots, lets look at the evidence. The Word teaches that we know the tree by it's fruit. I have not ever been "slain" nor do I seek to. But I do know people who have and for all accounts it has not hurt them. Whether it bettered them or made them more spiritual I don't know. As a whole, I am in agreement that we should not activities seek experiences not recorded in Scripture. We reduce God to an experience rather than day to day victorious living.
