  • the only person that can play a keytar and not be lame. one of the coolest songs ever Jan Hammer!

  • make that keytar cry!

  • Performed in vice city!

  • Fernando Saunders on Bass

    Fernando's web master

  • Fernando Saunders on Bass

  • Hammer's keytaring is like no other.

  • i wish i could pull a face like that.

  • Look at Jordan's hair! Haha!

  • what decade is this from??? i just can't tell, you guys!

  • @deliman The 80's off course!

  • Is it just me or does this performance (and i'm not talking about Jan Hammer's) lack some timing here and there? Plus it is a pretty slow, too.

  • @queggy1 not only that but it lacks any cable extensions out his keytar, I dont think they had wireless midi back then.

  • Wow... Tony Williams; RIP my friend. And that's Jordan Rudess (Dream Theatre) on boards. AWESOME!!!

  • Jan Hammmer and Harol Faltermyer were both good in the 80 in composing hits!!!!Haral F did bebverly hill cop theme!!!

  • Like my you tube user name states.... JAN HAMMER RULES!

  • FANTASTICO!!!!

  • @Magodoriente CONCORDO :-)

  • such a pleasure to see jan hammer playing it live !!!!

  • Like my user name states, ...JANHAMMERRULES.

  • A brilliant song... Poorly executed...

  • this is rocks?

    Too slowly, but ok.

Crocketts theme is the Disco saund, and the best of the best.

  • Bravo.! :D

  • 100% balls

  • strange lead sound and timing. Sounds like a 4 yo kid who's learning playing the keys :)

  • all I hear is some accent shifting.

i hope you're not questioning hammer's soloing skills.. they have been acknowledged by everybody already ;-)

  • @GJmusique Yeps. I know Hammer can do better :)

  • ppl who don't appreciate the original Miami Vice TV series and Jan Hammer don't have any sense or appreciation of style or in the case of Jan Hammer - music ingenuity. Jan's music went perfectly with MV's cutting edge style and look

  • Poor performance

  • you are bald, but you are also very awesome!

well done jan, you're still rockin my world after 20+ years of awesome soundtracks and performances!!! :D

  • hello, have somebody listen the song called Tomy`s twone?, o someone can tell me the name of this concert o this dvd? thanks

  • Shit version....terrible....put the Keytar up on your ass....GRRRRRRR !!!!!!!!

  • marimba is not that bad at all but the synth "guitar" sounds a lot like retro which is great :))

  • they shouldnt have used that marimba sound for the main melody ,also the guitar part as opossed to the original song doesnt sound that good...why?

    i dont know...

  • I think its a reallyyyyy good versionnnn

  • Cest trop bon...

  • Certainly not a bad version altho I prefer the original anytime. To those shedding lousy comments in Dutch (we weten wie je bent), go back to MSN for your ugly cyber experiments loser.

  • WTF man,

wat praat jij met je lousy comments...

    doe gewoon normaal..

  • Terrible version of a GREAT theme. Playing the guitar part on a poor sounding key-tar?! Ugh!

  • @NickMichalak Actually, the keytar is just a MIDI controller, it's not producing sounds on its own. Jan has a stack of synths behind his back. But the guitar sound is not the best (he uses a way better sound for Miami Vice Theme that can be found in related videos)

  • Jan Hammer is the best!

    please =)

  • hahahahahaaaa

sterf toch een pijnlijke dood man

  • That wasn't bad for a guitar sound in, what '85?

But, Bo Tomlin had a better one and had the guitar technique down as well. Don't know if he ever used it on anything, but he showed me ;>

  • @monadity

we can see a korg t3 and a wavestation above this one,

2 synths born early in the 90's

    i think the guitar's sound is coming from a u220 roland.(expansion card)

  • I do not know but my own version of the original song sounds better played by me :| The lead sound is from the Roland D50.

  • i totally believe you, i didnt like this performance at all.

  • Is there a full download available of this somewhere?

  • personally, i miss the keytar.

  • Holy shit, that's one young ass Rudess. Cool xD

    Love Jan Hammer's work.

    -j.

  • ahhh those were the days...

  • great solo guitar by jan hammer

  • perfekt

  • sounds amazing

  • do i seea Korg Wavestation on the racks?

  • rip tony williams

  • Interestingly, what year it is video?

  • Cool keytar

  • The music is not sync with the music let's someone edit it, ...annoying

  • hmmm, not bad :D

  • too simply to TW....

  • MIAMI VICE 4 EVER-----------------

  • YEAH miami vice for ever i got don johnson autograph :D

  • Great version with the unforgetable Tony Williams. Thank you for posting it.

  • Jordan Rudess for the win :D

  • its all about Tony for me here

  • Good to see Jan Hammer and Jordan Rudess together, playing one of the best songs I've ever heard - thank you Jan!

  • this remember of the old times when i use to watch miami vice

  • Amazing to see a theme performed live! Especially an "electric" song like this one, you wouldn´t see something like that nowadays...

  • yes - that's the ruin of it .-...

  • dont post comments, especially when you dont know what your talking about.

  • Yes.. if you like... but this is IMO and in a few other's opinions, a pretty poor rendition of a classic tune. The guy playing the lead (not Jan) doesn't even appear to know half the notes, and the timbres theyre using just sound nasty.

I belive the original was made with the classic Fairlight CMI.

  • Hrmm.. but the guy playing the lead IS Jan....

  • I love jan hammers music and the music he does for miami vice tv show very nicely composed and played

  • Nice.

  • Excellence Theme. I love it.

  • miami vice...

    woooh!

never seen a miami vice episode in my life..

    just cocaine cowboys doco..

and saw jan hammer in the songs section at the credits...

    i like this shit

  • fucking cool old song

  • lol gta vice city

  • u stupid dude!!!

  • yeah i guess your probably about 10 years old

  • jordan kicks asses!

  • I love this piece of music and Jan Hammer's work in general, but I wish this performance utilised the correct sound for the lead melody. The sound used in this rendition isn't a patch on the original.

  • Sync is off :(

  • its supposed to be, thats how he plays.

  • jan hammer rocks

  • We are now friends. ;P

  • GREGMORROW you think this is rubish?I'm 12 years old and i'm big fun of miami vice and crockett's theme.

  • good on u my friend

  • SUPER, diky moc, thanks!!!

  • Beautiful!!!!!!

  • AWESOME!

  • VERY GOOD

    THE MUSIC EXCELENT.

  • And shame on Michael Mann for not hiring Jan to lay the score on the motion picture.

  • JAN & VICE FOREVER

  • damn this is awesome. was any of this released on vhs or dvd?

  • AWESOME!

  • jan hammer is the shit (in a complementary sense)

  • I love it - please upload if anyone has more of those and thanks a lot for the video of this great group!!
