  • This song can really hit the spot! A friend of mine said he used to put his son to bed with this song when he was younger :-)

  • This sounds fantastic. Thanks.

  • I know it is as obvious to say as anything, but there will never, ever be another Jerry. He was one of a kind.

  • totally awesome. I love this era of jerry and the dead

  • One of my favorite Dead tunes. R.I.P Jerry

  • stunning ....sadly beautiful

  • One of my favorites. I was at this run in Hampton.

  • Check out Jerry smile at Phil 7:09 then The boys coming in together at 7:28 !

  • With our dreams entwined together...love that thought!

  • I was hoping for the Space>To Lay Me Down. I'm still hoping for it.

I was just trying to help. Still trying. LTF

  • AWESOME!

  • Over 22 years later and that was even better than I remember.

  • JERRY!!!!!!

  • I lost my virginity with this playing in the background..:)

  • @FreeChoiceTV

TLMD is definately one of my favorite Jerry tunes. I don't think I could crack to it however.

  • @1tag2 What can I say it was just one of those nights..:)

  • How good is this guy

  • SOOOOO beautiful.... Thank You Jerry!!

  • Miss you forever Gerry, what you did for me was so special, to see you play this song now, brings a tear to my eye, much love fellow traveler,

  • @ROADGUNNER007 gerry?

  • @ROADGUNNER007 ya I was in a hurry, and drunk Jerry, lol

  • jd, That TLMD is from 4/1/90. One of thebest versions ever.

  • Truly beautiful. thanks for posting this.

    Happy 70th Birthday, Phil!!

  • Four voices singing a great tune. I'll forever miss Grateful Dead.

  • Went to many shows in mid 80's the energy that was there before they went on stage was powerful-I'm getting chills as I write this and listen to this song. The end was difficult to watch-had left the scene in the early 90's-to much. Will never foregt the 1st song I heard and I was hooked. Thank you Jerry-you'll soon never be forgotten. Gods Speed---

  • I find that as I get older I enjoy the later Dead shows. When I was touring in the 80's, I thought I missed out on the 60's and 70's. But, once you hit 40, nothing can match the degree of regret and brokenness in Jerry's voice in the late 80's.

  • @brainmed I agree- and there are similar developments in his guitar playing- he matured overall. Of course the decline in the mid 90's was precipitous and difficult to watch, the late 80s and early 90's had a depth- I think it was there all along, but it just came to the forefront- also, check out 1985 for some painfully emotional moments.

  • @brainmed yep late 80's were the shit dude. I didnt like Jerry's voice in the early 80's. he sounded like he smoked 6 packs a day. For my money 89-90 were the 2 Best years for the Dead.

  • @frog442 you are out of your flipping mind to post that what the hell is wrong with you WWJD

  • Today on XM Dead Ch. I heard a 1990's version of "To Lay Me Down".... It was utterly and completely sick!!! Does anyone know the date of the venue????

  • i know there was one in Deer Creek summer of 92...excellent,excellent show...i think its 6-28

  • I will never forget this moment as long as I live. All three shows in this run were simply amazing!!!!! 1987-1990 w/Brent will go down in Grateful Dead history as a golden age in their history!

  • agreed!

  • This is so good that I wish I had done it.

  • ty for posting love this tune

  • Looks like this was around the time Jerry shot the thrill is gone video with David Gisman because his hair is all chopped! Great song.

  • From the head stash!!! Thanks for posting!

    Boogie on...

  • We love and miss you Jerry.R.I.P.

  • The Fat Man forever!!!!!

  • So gorgeous. I LOVE this show. The sequence of Thin Man > Cumberland > Me & My Uncle > To Lay Me Down > Let it Grow from the first set is really, really well played. In fact, I think I'm going to go listen to it now...

    Thanks for posting this!

  • i dont like the dead....i live and love the dead......never fade away......great post..

  • such a simple song and so true because of it.

  • 'Nice to see this back up. The "Thin Man " from this set would be another worthy post.

  • GOOSEBUMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...and Jerry looks like he just got back from Great Clips. : )

  • I know where i was twenty one years ago.

It seems like it was just yesterday.

    This is amazing, thank you

  • To Lay Me Down

To lay me down, once more

to lay me down with my head in sparklin' clover

to lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down

To be with you, once more, to be with you.

    With our bodies close together

  • let the world go by, like the clouds a'streamin'

to lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down

to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time,

    to lay me down

to lie with you, once more, to lie with you

  • with our dreams entwined together

to wake beside you, my love still sleepin'

to tell sweet lies, one last time and say good night

to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time,

to lay me down, one last time, to lay me down

to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down

    to lay me down

  • One of my favorites and one of the few songs I never caught live in 15 years of shows. Thanks for posting

  • I hadn't realized before that Jerry Bob Brent and Phil all sing on this.

    Those were the days.

Seems like a few weeks ago, the eighties.

    Life moves quick.

    Then you're gone.

  • and may

  • GO see the dead in april 2009

  • 2/10/89 Great Western Forum. Stranger>Franklins>Walkin Blues To Lay Me Down

    Also played 7/2/89 Foxboro Stadium.

  • And they never played it on the west coast since they brought it back in 1988.

  • 1988 To Lay Me Down 3/27/88 4/1/88 9/16/88 10/2/88 10/16/88. Those are the five. Hampton was the best of the 5 for my money, although 4/1 is very good. It would be nice to see any and all of the others. Anybody?

  • Sweet version!

This was the bust out of this great tune after being on hiatus since 1983 so it has that special kind of energy.

  • PanamaRed, Du bist der Held. Ich hoffe, Du hast noch mehr davon. Liebe Grüße

  • Special thanks to PanamaRed at LTF for the upload and Happy Holidays to all from Less Than Face Productions.
