As with most of you here i keep coming back to this scene, ive watched the film at least ten times and i went out with a girl who was the spit off this actress, so reminds me of my younger days late 70s early 80s its almost like my life on screen its spooky, just an adorable low budget film
This scene is one that you do not simply forget. At least, I didn't. It really does stay with you, and it can be a great thing for a youngster like me to identify with it.
I have watched this clip at least a dozen times having first enjoyed the movie! This clip of Felicity Jones brings out something in her that is truly captivating! Love the movie, love this performance, bravo again and again!!
anyone notice how trippy this scene is? The scene is in slow motion but when she is singing the song it matches the song at regular speed... She had to lip sing each individual word backwards so when the producers reverses the take it matches the song in regular speed, even though its in slow motion!!! TRIPPY.. great song and movie..
When I saw the reprise of this scene, at the end of the movie, my eyes started watering and the tears came streaming down, and wouldn't stop. And i didn't even know why. The emotional fucus and extreme accurateness of what it expresses is so acute, so raw and at the same time understated, that it took my breath away... and it also "took me right back, to when i was young..." and the first times i heard this unparalleled song.
I've never seen this movie so I really have no idea who these characters are, but I noticed that the guy's outfit (particularly the jacket and hair) look very similar to something Bryan Ferry wore in a photoshoot in the 70's. Love it!
&'nnd it really upsets Me that when this Movie came out I NEVER ever even heard of it. the only reason I watched it was because it was On Demand for a couple months before I decided to play it! that was a good decission I made!
This is just one scene from the movie that makes it so compelling. The scene with little Jane and Mrs. Rogers made me cry just as the ending scene where Ruth breaks down and finally cries as this song plays. It's a great movie and I can watch it again and again and still be moved to tears.
This film has two great scenes and both revolve arounfd this Roxy Music song...this scene and the scene later in the film where her character recieves the letter from the Daniel Craig character...
This movie is a hidden gem. Sadly it came and went with very little publicity. If you haven't seen the movie, you need to; it's one of the best!! This track is simply brilliant. When I come across this movie on TV something makes me stop every time and watch it...again!
is there someone beside me for whom an atmosphere of this scene resembles one of "C.R.A.Z.Y." with Bowie's Space Oddity in a background? :) both movies are simply great
after having seen it, and watching this several times....
i finally realized why i ball my eyes out every time:
the preciousness and fragility of life's brevity, the tragedy of unrequitted love.
the return of the envied superstar to see what he really missed out on, and her spontaneous realization that he had loved her all along, and that everybody's perception of the other one having their dream, was just that.
@yogapradag I understood the final scene in other way. The key is “Graveyard Scene”. She was totally unnatural there. She had played some freaking role of widow. It was disgusting. Joe has written the letter because he remembers how the real Ruth looks like. He has helped Ruth to return to herself out of mask. Maybe I am wrong, but I don't believe that in this perfect movie there is such badly played moment as Ruth on Graveyard, so it was by design.
great movie soooo, underated! this is possibly the most sexiest scene in the pic' how could you choose?...how many of us been in this situation ?......and never realised it!!.........
Fantastic bit of the movie, the music fits the mood perfectly. The girl is strangely mesmerizing. The whole scene hits me straight in the gut, reminds me of my youth and a girlfriend i lost.
Great movie. Such a sad scene really. Brilliantly played by both of them. You can see in his eyes how much he adores her. And the he just blows it ... too young to understand how it affects his life later on. And the song is possibly the best love song ever written!!
this was a great film ...kinda reminds me of me and my life. Great 80's brilliant! I am lucky to be apart of it.. 'the 80's that is' .Thank you for this movie it brought me back to Newport Beach Southern CA my younger...
gorgeous that's all ii can say about this scene absolutely outstanding movie. im getting it on DVD ASAP! well worth it and im glad i watched it out of chance last night. hadn't even heard of it.
