  • lol, i loved my first drive! I think you would have better off drove in a parking lot first to help get rid of those jumpy nerves! i drove in my church parking lot for 2 hours and then I drove to my friends house (first time on the road) haha!

  • You're a really supportive dad :)

  • can i have Shelbi's number?

  • @SupremeGamingMaster

Yeah, it's posted on the message board in the Emergency Room.

  • Man, I wish I didn't live in a city.

  • that van is a chevy venture, in my opinion that is the best van chevy ever made

  • at least she has open roads like this i sure as hell don't I start practicing this weekend

  • Now put her in a stick shift car ;)

  • dude the window was fucking cracked??

  • She should try manual....

  • lmao xD how she get her permit and she dont no how to turn the blinkers on xDD jk she did wonderful!!!!!

  • "2.000 people are gunna see this on youtube!" congrats on 24,000 :)

  • im almost 15 and i cant wait to start driving.. my moms gunna start teaching me in the summer.. i get my temps in october.. it will be nice next year not having to ask my parents for rides!

  • I think the dad was a really good teacher, he brought a sense of calm to a situation that can be nerve wrecking, great job

  • this is what i did with my dad the first time driviing. im 18 and just got my license. u r a good teacher. and i was so scared the first time i drove when i got my permit. im glad im not the onnly one who was scared.

  • THIS IS SO ME..

  • smoke some weed and chilll out

  • the first time i drove i got behind the wheel of a big 7.3 turbodiesel ford... it was crazy i felt like i was driving a tank. ironically my first car was a 5 speed hyundai. then i got a trans am, sold it and bought a 5 speed s10.

  • mother of god... in Europe you also have manual gearbox but everybody have no problems with driving...

  • i'm sorry but when i got my permit i wasn't scared at all, and gone almost 100 mph by the end of that month

  • oh yeh and great patience!

  • OH MY GOOD THESE GIRL IS CUTE AS HELL

  • shes a liddle toooo scared lmfao the other week my very first time drivinn in nyc traffic at night in da rain

  • how did the highway go for her? good job trying =)

  • She's a good driver for her first time!

I am starting drivers ed in a few days, and I am just like Shelbi. SCARED.

I'm just scared of the highways... I drove my dad through the city a few times and it wasn't that bad.

Any advice to calm my nerves? I am 16.

  • @Alexmariexox To be honest, I was very scared when I first drove on the highway too. But after driving almost 50km every weekend on the highway for the past 6 months (I'm also 16 btw), I found that being relaxed is the most important thing. Look nice and far, don't try to look right in front of the bumper and follow the lines. Always keep your space. When you drive with respect, other people will respect you.and just don't think too much, listen to music, loosen your muscles up before driving.

  • @TerryCPiano always look about 4-5 car lengths ahead so if something happens youll have time to react... interstates are pretty damn efficient if youre just chill about it.

  • @razortitsful

In Texas, it's legal to have passengers in the car while driving with a Learner's Permit as long as a licensed driver (myself) is in the front seat. We were legal.

  • how is her driving today?

  • @Heem24100

She does great. She's been driving by herself for over a year now. No accidents!!

  • how are u going to show that video to ur wife but still tell her she didnt drive?

  • So if i heard this right he said got her permit yeasterday but wtf she scared 2 press on the brake and put it in drive she cracked me up LMAO

  • If i ever acted like that my dad would never let me drive..

  • You guys did GREAT! :D

  • What a great Dad She has ! love this Video Thanks for Sharing(=

  • cant believe the comments that he is a great teacher...poor poor show,,,first tell ur kid how to set the seat up,,,she could not reach...law or not that is so s so bad to have a kid in the back but good luck driving

  • @TheGobbycdh Pfft, Its better than how I learned how to drive. My dad just told me not to crash and thats about it. Lol.

  • @TheGobbycdh

Just as Shelbi is learning how to drive, I am doing my best to learn how to teach her to drive. This is a right of passage for any parent teaching their children how to function in the world.

Shelbi struggled here, but so did I in teaching her. We were learning together.

If you can't understand that, then I'm guessing you have no children of your own.

As for passengers, the lawmakers in the State of Texas have set what is allowed and what is not. We followed those laws.

  • @MarkMcCall51 I think you're a great teacher and wish you can teach me. I'm in Alabama, not far from Texas. I have a crazy maniac of a mother teaching me since I have no one else to teacher me. I don't think i'll ever learn, it feels like the car has soooo much power, and i'm not understanding why every drives with one foot instead of both haha. I guess you'd call it anxiety(or fear of crashing into everyone like i'm in a bumper car).

  • @TheGobbycdh Are you kidding lol? He's a great teacher, my mom yelled and cursed at me the entire time which is the reason why I'm still afraid to drive. I'm supposed to be getting my plastic permit or whatever it's called lol in the mail in 30 days but I find myself not ever using it in the future. As long as she's teaching me i'd rather walk or take the bus. It makes a difference when someone is calmly teaching you, and when someone is over your shoulder constantly yelling in your ear.

  • This is why i love england. Manual ftw.. Automatic haha..

  • i just started driving today and im 15! started in a parking lot thou:) im so bad at parkingg bahahahxD

  • Lol I bet you she drives really good now and drives and texts lol

  • man, in italy we have to learn with manual shift, you're so lucky you can just learn with the automatic one

  • haha. some of these comments are so immature x). but hahaha this is gonna be me when i get my temps ! hha XD

  • she be crazy

  • Why do you have a kid in the back!?

  • @music4ismylife8

Texas law allows drivers with learners permits to have passengers of any age in the back as long as a licensed driver is in front.

  • @MarkMcCall51 does the learner permit holder still need their own individual insurance like we have in the UK?

  • @ATBparkour

Yes. The learner has to be added as an official driver of the automobile in the policy.

    And it's EXPENSIVE for learners.

  • @MarkMcCall51 well was gunna say its a bit late but maybe for the little one, in the uk to go on my dad's policy for learner they wanted near on £1000 .... but we did a bit of digging and i got 5 months cover on my own policy for £190 so try look around for the little one when she learns

  • were do you guys live? i'm turing 15 in a few weeks and i live in ny and we can't get our permits till were 16

  • Me gustaría tomar unas lecciones como esas.

  • @MrZoran69.....I don't know. How did u learn to type?

  • @J4ckTh3R1pp3rr.....Texas law allows for under 18 passengers if a licensed driver is in the front seat. We were in a rural area (see video). Bet it gives u a good feeling to refer to a teenager with profanity.

  • RIP Stick Shift.

  • her dumass keep laughing n shit

  • I think an empty parking lot would be better to practice driving, especially since its probably her first time behind the wheel.

  • how nice her first driving lesson with a little girl in the back seat and she is not wearing her seat belt not wearing it properly by the looks of it ...

  • Good job to Shelbi for being courageous and her dad for patience!!

  • scardy cat

  • how did she get a permit when she doesent know how to drive AN AUTOMATIC -.-

    ???????????

  • @MrZoran69

Shelbi had many hours of instruction in another automobile. This was her first time behind the wheel of a minivan.

  • @MarkMcCall51 hm , this is my dad's profile , im 17 years , we also have a minivan crysler and its stic shift and im driving :P sooo oh yea and sory for the misspelling im from Serbia :D

  • @MrZoran69 In America, you donot need to know how to drive a manual transmission to get a permit. Even if you pass your road test in automatic to get your license, you are still entitled to drive manual. There is no such thing as separate licenses for manual and automatics. American licenses are unviersal.

  • To avoid surprisement and shock you should always drive in a parkinglot before driving a road

  • @XxTopHeistxX

Shelbi did just that. But this is her first time on the road.

  • omg she is a comacozy! lol I hope she is alot better now she didnt even uese her blinker!

  • More like 12,000 people are gonna see this lol

  • What a lovely dad, brought tears to my eyes, hearing the way you speak to your daughter. I'm 39 and still don't know how to drive. But Im going to learn before I turn 40!.

    Well done to your daughter.

  • It's great seeing your kids grow up so fast! :-)

  • seems a little immature dont yah think. dads a pretty good instructor too.

  • seems a little immature dont yah think.

  • WOW, your a really great driving teacher!! my dad just tenses me up!!! I love ur vidsssss

  • Aw little girl

  • my god how can somebody be so scared of driving?

  • This dad is a great teacher wish my parents were this fun when im driving lol

  • @johnnyshernandez1 I did my first driving lesson today and he picked me up and i could already drive by myself in public streets so its not idiotic or illegal

  • It's easy with the automatic transmission...

  • My only comment is you sir are a fearless bastard. Hands down.

  • Can you get you'r drivers licence if you haven't learned how to drive with manuel gear? :)

  • @johnnyshernandez1

That is incorrect. We were totally legal.

    From the Texas DMV website:

    Instruction Permit Restrictions:

The instruction permit carries certain restrictions with it. You must have a licensed driver 21 years or older sitting in the front seat next to you at all times. Passengers of any age are allowed.

Shelbi had many hours of Drivers Ed under her belt and was just about to graduate.

We took her to a rural area with very little traffic.

  • @emmaaanueeel

In the State of Texas, you can get your learners permit at age 15.

  • its all fun learning to drive.. but with a small child in the back its just dumb. even if your going slow

  • why wouldn't you teach her all these things before you get on the hwy? like turning on the blinker

  • @xyzguy123

Exactly why went went out to the country away from the city. Learning to drive is right of passage, and I want to document every aspect of my daughters growing up. She's now has her own car, and drives herself to school every day.

  • @MarkMcCall51 sounds cool, i'm also just learning to drive and hope to drive to school myself soon. My dad would probably make me do this stuff in a parking lot though because the roads are so busy

  • @xyzguy123

We did. She'd been taking Drivers Ed for several months by the time we shot this. She was nervous. The was rural eastern Lubbock County with very little traffic.

  • Morgan's so cute!! LOL!

  • you fuckin suck at driving did you dsee how you put your hands on one side of the wheel when u r turning

  • My dad wants to take me out to drive. We live in the city tho. So Its going to be sooo scary lol.

  • a little advice, on first lesson before starting, show where everything in the car is and let her adjust seat and mirrors to be comfortable while driving. because there's nothing worse when you have to search for blinkers or light switches while driving because first time you drive you don't see anything execpt for what is in from of you.

  • i want see how shee drive with manual gearbox ;)

  • HAHA! shes driving, "OOOOHHH MY GOD" dad says, "ok now get on the street"

i couldnt help but laugh HASTARICALY at that!!!

  • she is so annoying.

  • lol practically wispers "sweethart we are trying to go behind the black one" "YOUR YELLING AT ME!!!" xD cant wait till i start driving!

  • How I wish you're one instructor! My husband's yelling of me every time and that makes me nervous and panic and don't know what to do next:-)

She's lucky to have you! Nice first time driving!

  • Man I wish someone like you thought me how to drive. God your so nice and patient.

  • omg, she's so goofy lol.

  • anyone know the grade in highschool you start driving?

  • @serenity6831 Around 10th, I got it 11th because I was born later, I got mine a week after i turned 16 :D

  • @HaguSlayer thanks for telling :)

  • Wow... A hint- Calm her nerves down alot. Maybe take her to a empty parking lot or something so she can get the feel of the car or something. I just got my license this week and i was almost the exact same way she was. But once I drove for about 5 days I was a way better driver!

  • how does she have her permit & she doesnt even know how to take the car out of park ? she needs to calm down !!

  • how old is she?

  • Very entertaining :)

Normal errors made by anyone haven't "touch" a car before.

  • @MarkMcCall51 did she get her license yet?

  • Kitchen

  • AMY SMART AND DAKOTA FANNING...

  • That was sweet! i'm having my first lesson this week and I can see she was having a lot of fun haha

  • Can I just ask why stick shift (manual) isn't so common in the US?

  • @SiimpleHarry- Because everyone in USA is retarded and lazy.

  • @tarmoleblanc16 Your stupid not all of americans are the same

  • @tarmoleblanc16 only a retard would say something like that. our system requires a lot of people to own cars and lot's of cars are on the road, it's a pain in the ass with all the stop and go. and our system is ok with using taxes for wars but not good public transportation, so, everyone has at least 2 cars and bumper to bumper traffic is known to last for miles and miles and miles here. and you got crackheads, drunks and gangbangers on the bus, take your pick.

  • @SiimpleHarry It is common in the US.....lol. We have a 5 speed and an automatic. Pretty much every car my parents have ever owned was also a stick. What makes you think it isn't common over here?

  • @SiimpleHarry because of the amount of cars owned and required by people on the road for means of transportation. all the stop and go isn't too good for the clutch. elsewhere in the world, people's access to work can be walkable, and trains are more common. in america, lot's of people drive at least 45 minutes to get to work, plus, the lack of government programs took a lot of trains, trolley's and buses off the road. so almost everyone has at least two cars here.

  • thats like what my dad says 'see that person there, they had their first driving lesson'

  • Your little girl is very cute.

  • What a problem -> straight road, automatic transition, no clutch. Just faster/slower plus direction. Meh.

  • Roads in Texas are so straight and flat, UK roads are ridiculously!

  • lol... she needs to chill.... like really. lmao

  • I love watching first time drivers

  • wow she's cute :)

  • god your hot

  • Wow she looks exactly like Kendra from girls next door lol

  • Comment removed

  • @ranucciman1

Profanity? Really? On a 15 year old driver training video? You're the one who clicked on it.

  • man: because we are coming up on a stop

stupid girl: so do i have to stop

what do you think stop means dumb ass, and you put a kid with you

  • gay voice

  • lol by the way she act`s doesn`t look like she has a driving license.is that true?

  • @andrei4417

He has a learners permit. Required in Texas for those learning to drive.

  • That is a dangerous thing..her laughing like that ...she could have hit that oncoming car..

  • LMFAO- THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I SOUNDED LIKE...except my dad wasn't patient LMAO

  • Now let's see her reverse that car. :)

  • lol " look on the dash board" "OH JESUS!"

  • lol she nt dat bad

  • is she retard

  • @ALwALeeDss100 lol, it seems like all teenage girls are nowadays

  • @xgregman894x
