Your algae problems would be solved by removing all that gravel. Forget the undergravel, it's nothing but an inefficient septic tank. One layer of gravel keeps detritus buildup down, that means low P and K so therefor no more algae
@falinlalko6904 depending on where you live but in Lansing there is a pet shop called Pruess Pets and if you call them they breed there own fish and they may have some avail. They are very good with everything they do!
you don't need to clean the algae it's actually good for your tank , some people just like their tanks to look sterile. I think it looks cool and beautiful fish
You wouldnt have a flowerhorn without the trimac so ya wrong when you say "i have a cheap version of the flowerhorn". The trimac came first. I have the version that God made. You have the version that man made.
For ya information monsterfishkeeper714 .... the trimac is a true breed. The flowerhorn is man made , it's a cross breed. So in my opinion I think the flowerhorn is a poor mans trimac. Do some research before you open ya mouth again.

Either show me how it should be done or keep ya negative comments to ya self
The reason why the pleco wont work is because the trimac and the midas wont tolerate one and it would wind up being a waste of money. I just bought a 75 gal. and soon the fish will have a nice clean home but in the future I plan on throwing in some plants or cutting down on the lighting time in order to get the algae under control.
I moved the fish to a 75 gal and boutght a xp3 to go along with the emp400. I have phosphate pads in the xp3 and Im hoping that will keep the algae in check. If that doesnt work im gonna get a U.V. Sterillizer. Ohh and btw my fish will kill a plec , it would be a waste of money
Ah yes, i forgot about that, the fish looks like an aggressive little bugger. Hopefully your' plan will work, but if it doesn't, you could move the aggressive fish to a temporary tank and put a Plecostomus in the 'algae' tank to clear it up. However, That could stress out the aggressive dude. Oh well, you probably know more about this that me :), peace out bro.

The 55 is gone now. The fish are in the 75 now and its all clean. I added a xp3 and that gives me more filtration options. I hope I can do a better job keeping the algae in check this time but if not im gonna get a UV Sterilizer......lol @ "fish porn".
The Trimac can be aggressive at times but not all the time. The trimac gets in one of his moods and just flipps. I can say the same for the midas. Im workin on this problem now and the best solution I can come up with , at this time , is to get a larger tank and I plan on doing that soon......You are right though and thank you for the advise

Nice Trimac! I currently have a 7 male that I'm trying to beef up with fish pellets the size of dog food.
BTW: Trimacs and FH are not the same thing. FH come from Trimac crosses with other cichlids.

Dude, you should REALLY seperate the two fish, try taking out the Midas cichlid if the trimac is so agressive towards him!
