  • Comment removed

  • "Killa tofu! " oooh iii ooohh..

  • "I won't make you eat any borscht". In Soviet Russia borscht eats YOU?

  • Oh god...so many beet puns! it's hysterical!

  • I love how Alton uses humor to get our attention. I love beets and they remind me of my Dad because he used to eat them, but from a can. I want to start cooking them fresh from the Farmers Market and with laughter. I'm also inviting you all to stop by our Facebook page "Leave It Better". We share about good food and sustainable living.

  • Never ate a beet before I watched this episode now it's my favorite all time vegetable.

  • moved on after 30 seconds to find out how the cook beets :)

  • can you use that sand thing with mushrooms?

  • Why the fuck do people ask Alton questions in youtube comments.

Do they actually think he reads these fucking things??

  • what's wrong with borst? Alton, can't you do a how on that?

  • Hey car salesman.. I'm gonna let you finish bro.. but I just wanted to say that beets are not only delicious and nutritious, they're also Good Eats!!!

  • alton are beets stem can be cook & what recipe is that ?

  • I like canned pickled beets.

  • Mis tacos SON muy FRIOS. Alton. Jesus.

  • @cumbobaggins I suspect AB knows better Spanish than he showed. At the very least, he seems like the type of person who would have checked to make sure what he was saying made sense. So I think it's intentional.

  • I accidently type in beet instead of beer with my itouch lol

  • @sluggo06 its spelt bear, idiot

  • @knoshy it's spelt....spelled

  • I never ever managed to eat beets. Even as a baby I'd spit it out, they just trigger an instant gag reflex.

  • clever intro.

  • i said nutritional anthropologist

  • never trust a veggie that bleeds more then you do when its cut

  • @MysticKnight38 Why would you bleed if you cut a vegetable?

  • @awesome220 lawlz

  • I told my mom I was watching an episode on beets. Her response? "Beets taste like dirt." :)

  • My tacos are very cold.

  • I can't believe he didn't make borscht!

  • @bombshoo

    "That's another show"

  • For those who want to know what was said at the end of the vid in the spanish Telenovela spoof

Man . . . And the amnesia will soon pass, and I shall remember your name, and I will love you more. . .

    Woman : Ay Reynaldo. .

    Alton. Excuseme,

Man. . Why did you return, crazy man

Alton. . . My tacos is very cold (yes, he said it incorrectly)

  • This is great Alton. I like to get a big plate of beets at buffet restaurants and chow down in front of those non beet eaters. They are delicious and you would think they are okra or liver the way they turn some people off. To me they are like apples soaked in wine and I know they are nutritious and are going to make me feel good. Lets eat some beets!

  • I am going to french fry some beets. Will this work?

  • It should work. I've done some in Tempura batter.

  • How did it go with the frying? I'm curious.

Make sure you used good oil to fry them in.

I like frying in olive oil, tastes better and good for you.

I hear organic raw coconut oil and grapeseed oil are good for frying.

  • Beet are good mix on potatoes salad! So good!

  • He would totally win the Nobel Beet Prize.

  • beets are awfull but if altons cooking them they gotta be good eats

  • The awful ones are from cans and bad restaurants.

  • I loved his "Sam I am" revrence.

  • "You know Deb, size isn't everything."

    "Who told you that?"

    lol

  • does anyone know what the spanish or maybe italian people are saying in the beggining?

  • i hate my life and wish i were african

  • They are Spanish, in the beginning Alton asks him "How much is the hat?"

  • (man) quien es usted - who are you

(woman) yo no puedo trabajar asi - i cant work like this

(man) quien sea usted pronto sera despedido - whoever you are you will soon be fired

  • He said "Why you gotta be a cock blocker?"

  • beets are awfull but if altons cooking them they gotta be good eats

  • Are canned beets really that horrible? I've always had them fresh or my grandma's home-jarred ones and they were great. I don't think I even knew that you could buy canned beets in the grocery store...now I kind of want to try them to see if they're as bad as all that.

  • i am saying yeah for most caned beets they just turn to yucky mush but i dont know some like them realy mushy but there pretty gross to me

  • I'm a total snob when it comes to food and I don't apologize for it. Canned food isn't fit for human consumption in my opinion.

  • Is there anything edible from a can? Condensed and evaporated milk are useful, and chick peas are handy from a can. But otherwise I refuse to go near canned food, for it's mostly mushy and tasteless.

  • Touche! I am fond of my canned coconut milk (especially since I discovered the Native Forest Organic stuff -- it redefines "ooey gooey good unctuous") but I think that might be because I hate putting in the effort to crack and scoop the real thing.

  • Oh yea, forgot coconut milk. If it were easier to get coconuts in this country I might do it myself more, but... Well it's nice to have the stuff in for when you want to make a nice rendang or curry. But whoever thought you could easily can a vegetable was sorely mistaken. One of the worst things ever is the canned potato. An abomination!

  • That and, in a pinch, canned beans of most varieties. Yeah, you oughta take the time to cook and can them yourself, or at least refrigerate them as leftovers for a while, but a lot of us work long enough hours that canned beans aren't so bad. Canned green beans ain't half bad, either, when they're not in season fresh.

  • only certain foods are good canned, avoid starchy things like potatoes, carrots, and peas cause they tend to glutenize sitting in fluid for weeks and get gluey and mushy and distusting, but things like corn, tomatoes, and peaches (usually) turn out fine

  • the ones your grandma jarred are different I'm sure. I think the home jarred ones are pickled. Canned food is yucky trust me.

  • yeah, fruit tends to be better, canned, or from a can.... vegetables are really...good, and never eat meat from a can.. :(

  • swiss chard is a form of beet wow and i like them but kinda like beets in general

  • What's so scary in the beets?

  • AB is the god of TV land .. he can appear on any channel lol

  • did not expect alton to rip open mask and be kingkong

  • Little red wedges of death...

    That's awesometastic.

  • I love this show!

There are some studies with beets related to colon cancer, they're awesome for preventing and fighting colon cancer.

I just baked some in the foil, not for 40 minutes though, I like to cook them for less time and have a little crunch and retain more nutrients.

  • Not loving the beets thing, but I maintain my crush on AB.

  • I love you Alton but... but.. beets!?! BEETS?!?!

  • Can't you see they're good eats?!

  • Wow, that is some atrocious Spanish.

  • At the very end, where he interrupts the Mexican soap opera for the second time, and the guy says "el hombre loco!" good stuff.

  • Hahahahahahahaaaa! I like the opening. XDDD

  • Nobel beet prize!

  • lol sand germs XD

  • "You know, size isn't everything."

    "Who told you that?"

  • haha The look on his face!!

  • Yeah that was awesome XD

  • I like the hat

  • this was one of my favorite episodes ever. thanks for the upload!
