Just checked the blog:
"Chocolux is a real-time recursive raytracer using four spheres. Lighting and intersections are all approximated to fit the 1024 bytes boundary."

Like the blog says its 100% 3D but becasue the intersections are approximated, you cant see that its only 4 spheres.
