I watched this at an Irish pub in New York City. The patrons that day were nearly all English. When England equalized, the screams were as much for relief as they were for joy. @ajjcj Granted England's road was the harder but the lesson here is that in England we panic like "lost children" and make wildly extreme claims about the sport, that quite frankly, are meaningless. We should focus on the simplest fixes that make more sense rather than these sweeping reforms that are impossible to achieve without completely redesigning the way football is played, which in the end prove too difficult to even contemplate. Memo to Fabio Capello; watch this and please note. Gerrard was doing what he does best in the middle, and Beckham doing his stuff out wide. This was probably the best England performance against Germany for many years. Interesting to note on the commentary Ballack being replaced by Klose when the Germans were 4-1 down; it typifies the way the Germans don't give up until it becomes impossible, and shows why they reach semi-finals and finals whilst we don't.
