@kittiebeaver Off the top of my head I would suggest Veil of Darkness and Horrorsoft's Elvira games, plus possibly Waxworks. Those all have a similar modern-day horror RPG feel to them.
Just watched the whole LP over the last 2 days, I actually wanted to make a LP of it myself but I just ran around and got mauled by Zombies because I don't know ANYTHING about it -.- So it wouldn't have been very entertaining for myself xD
@Elanarae Thank you. This game seems to have a reputation for being difficult, and I was surprised myself how much easier the correct approach makes it. If you try to play this as a regular RPG where you grind experience while fighting gradually stronger enemies, you'll most likely fail. It really is a survival horror game that happens to look like an RPG, with absolutely limited resources and enemies you shouldn't try to kill on the first encounter.
@Crowley9 Yeah I guess I shown how I myself would react in such a situation ... run around like a headless chicken, try to grab the first Fireplace Poker and wildly flay it around while getting eaten by a bunch of zombies xD
I would be so doomed if something like that actually would happen 8(
Thank you so much for this LP. It was awesome. Or, on the secret language Crowley and I (and a few others) speak: Huipputyötä loppuun saakka. Iso paha pomohirviö oli kieltämättä pettymys, mutta minkäs teet ;)
I love the effect RPG's have on their main character. Mr. Weiss enters the haunted mansion as a wussy middle-aged stage magician, and leaves it the next night a sword-swinging, planar travelling magical badass.
Great game and great play, thanks for putting this up. I love this game but never got to the end due to computer issue. I have a MINT copy of it in my storage that's how much I like this gem. :)
Is this really a little-known RPG? It's from MicroProse after all... I must admit I never played it but have run into the name several times. I guess I'm just such an old-school DOS nerd that way.
Thanks for playing it; you did a great job. You're right, though, that actually encountering Belthegor is something of an anticlimax after the rest of the game.
However, Microprose is best known for their flight simulators. Westwood is still going strong with Command & Conquer, but how many people know they have made solid RPGs in the past?
I don't know how you had the patience to play that entire game, but I'm glad you did. I played that game as a kid and I could never get very far. I thought I'd never see the ending to that game. Great LP, can't wait for the next.
This was great! Can you suggest some other old PC RPGS similar to this game?

@Crowley9 How About Alone in the Dark?

@kittiebeaver Those are not RPGs, but at least the first three are good. I haven't played the newer ones myself.

I get heavy 'click' sounds when the sound effects play - any ideas?

One of my favourite games from the old days, despite its flaws. Thanks for the commentary, really enjoyed it :)

The final boss was kinda anticlimatic, but this was an overall entertaining experience.
Hopefully you have better luck with your technical issues than I am with mine.

I actually did manage to solve that. Damn Amiga games having half a dozen different cracked versions with varying levels of functionality.

Anybody who has read the Wikipedia or MobyGames entries on them, I suppose. :)

Thanks so much for putting these up, it was such a blast being able to see this old game from my childhood!
Plus the commentary was hilarious!

Thanks Crowley, must admit the games wasn't all that exciting; however, thanks for making it entertaining with your unorthodox commentary

Is it just me, or does the final boss look like some special alien dish..?
Oh well.. entertaining LP, Crowley. :D Do you know what the next one will be yet?
