I remember my older brother lent me this album when I was 10-12 years old and I just listened to music at the time because it sounded good, I really liked this song but didn't have any clue to anything he was talking about, years pass and I stumble across this song on my computer one day this year (now that I'm older and I have a much better understanding on how the world works) when I listen to this now I can't believe how dull and brainwashed I once was, canibus spits straight knowledge .

In '88 is when hip-hop was recognized with a Grammy award. After this is when companies began taking control of hip-hop, which leads us into the 90s.

We saw the cry of real hip-hoppers in 93-94 where there was a reemerging of true artists, but still most were pushed into talking about guns & crime life. I remember my older brother lent me this album when I was 10-12 years old and I just listened to music at the time because it sounded good, I really liked this song but didn't have any clue to anything he was talking about, years pass and I stumble across this song on my computer one day this year (now that I'm older and I have a much better understanding on how the world works) when I listen to this now I can't believe how dull and brainwashed I once was, canibus spits straight knowledge .

Late 80s is what is recognized by all as the golden era up until 1990. There artists were many & the creativity of lyrics & music increased. This was when the industry hadn't tainted hip-hop. Artists were able to be diverse, original & creative because no one was controlling them. The source awarded 8 albums in '88 alone with 5 mics. In '88 is when hip-hop was recognized with a Grammy award. After this is when companies began taking control of hip-hop, which leads us into the 90s.

By the time we got in the 90s hip-hop was going pop with MC Hammer, & Vanilla Ice. Or on the other side artists were pushed to being clones as trying to be gangsta rappers. We saw the cry of real hip-hoppers in 93-94 where there was a reemerging of true artists, but still most were pushed into talking about guns & crime life. The artists were influence by 80s artists, some being 80s artists, so they had great music but hip-hop was tainted, & never changed back. (CONT)
