This speech should have been directed at herself and the members in the Senate. It's not the general's job to philosophize and question his Commander-in-Chief's orders. I can't believe she's the Secretary of State. What a bad choice. I also don't appreciate how she thanked him for his service prior to her rambling, then proceeded to waste his time.

Ur analogy seems true on the surface but closer inspection reveals it to be misleading.

Lifeguards will get splashed and hence wet all the time, several times a day and they will likely have to dive into the pool much more often than a soldier will get deployed. Its a minority of soldiers who get deployed into combat anyway, so its a reasonable expectation that one would NEVER see war! Even during the Viet. war there were non-com troops!
