I love my iPod touch but I could never see myself using it as a phone, which is the iPhone with a few extra features. I like how Apple products just work, but I hate how you can't tweak, hack and customize to make them work BETTER and more for you. Jailbreaking simply isn't the same. I will probably have to glue my soon to be droid to my iPod though to bring the best of both ;)

my story is very similar to yours..i hated apple just because it was the cool thing to do...over the course of my run with android i just one day got tired of all the hacking/modding and just wanted a phone that worked great out the box...my thunderbolt was the final nail in the coffin for my android experience and now im a happy 4S owner and wouldnt change that for anything

I tried an old HTC just like you a couple of years ago. I was not impressed....it was laggy, it didn't have many applications, and everyone who had one wanted an iPhone. One day I could finally get an iPhone 4S, and I'm very glad that I bought it. Android probably got better.......but I met an Android user, and he criticized Apple because he once had an old iMac from 2001 (he used it in 2010) and since it crashed he hated all Apple products. I don't buy Android because of the community.

ime, for a tablet, android works best for me as between ios and android, android is closer to a desktop os due to its customizations and widgets (that is until windows 8 comes out). However, for a phone, I am leaning towards wp7; ios is good but the overall interface and the sea of static icons are getting old. imo, the wp7 interface is fresh and sophisticated while the apps on wp7 look cleaner (ex: spotify, fb, twitter, stormy7, foodspotting, tech news now, wiz tiles. these are only a few.)

I was an android and symbian user.... like them a lot.... and then i didnt like windows phone.... due past experience with microsoft... i dont think is good enough... i think iOS is fine...so i keep investing on android but .... i realize how efficient is for windows phone....it works great....so i try windows phone.... it really is a good phone..... When i realize i shouldnt be a fan of any platform but every platform preference depends on individuality.
Form my experience iOS is a lot more focused and what it does it does really well, but it seems like when you want to do something there usually is only one right way to do it.(and it's for the most parts faster)
Android feels like it just tries to be everything, which makes you sometimes forget certain shortcuts and alike. Google integration is noticeably better, so if you use their calendar, gmail, contact ect. it's just awesome. and there is just certain minor things you can't do on iOS.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note and an iPod touch 4 and I can honestly say IOS has a very slight edge here. It is a very stable and quick platform and has a plethora of apps and games, it's nearly perfect, but also very limited in functionality. Android however may seem a little less responsive than IOS, even with the iPod's slower single core processor and low RAM it feels much faster than my phone. BUT Android is more customizable and does alot more, but it is, like I said, imperfect.
@oHaZZaRo If you hack it like if you put on this one : Rocket ROM (look on xda sorry can't put link in the comment) your phone becomes WAY faster than the iPhone/ iPod with hacking but if you don't like hacking then just do the updates (there was a problem with the software on release). And remember ICS is coming ! It's just some software versions aren't good just look at the SGS II, it's faster than the 4S even on stock software.
@nico53laval Actually, There were 2 things I forgot to mention previously due to character limit. 1. I was comparing Android OS 2.3.6 with TouchWiz to IOS 5.0. 2. You're very right, as soon as ICS arrives the tables might turn, as long as TouchWiz doesn't hold it back, and concerning the rooting process, I was once again comparing them out of the box, and I'm sorry to say this, yes the SII is a really fast phone, faster than the note even with the slower processor...
@nico53laval ...BUT the iPhone 4S is MUCH faster than anything I've seen in my life (my friend has an iPhone) and my only explanation would be the OS, since the processor of the SII and the Galaxy Note is alot faster. For these few reasons I believe IOS is just a little bit better. I guess we just have to wait for android, as soon as the Galaxy line-up gets a taste of that, only then can we android users truly see our devices as premium.
@nico53laval I don't know, IOS just felt zippy, I mean yes Android could run well and at 30-unlimited fps but maybe once in a 100 scrolls it would just freeze and go back to normal functionality, this never happens to IOS. I really wanted to like the Note, instead I'm in love with it, but when I got my iPod, I had a different feeling. Yes it wasn't an iPhone but I always found something new to do with it until the day I got the Note (1.2 years later) the Note is still very young...

@nico53laval Because in the end it's all a matter of opinion, cause people might already prefer even the Android OS and some might think iPhones are better technically due to the perfectly comfortable screen size and the incredibly high pixel density. In my opinion as a newcomer to the Android world, it looks like a very bright future for Android OS and Ice Cream Sandwich is just the start.

I was an apple fanboy for years, but I decided to try other things such as windows and android and felt like I enjoyed using those more and felt like they fit better to my prefered style than apple products so I switched.
This pretty much told everyone that apple prodcuts are for lazy people, and thats lucky for apple as 99% of the world is lazy , like me :) but i have a android phone and ipad so i have a but of both, but i wish the android store was better as i miss good apps on my phone ;)

I love my android. The iphone is great dont get me wrong. Even though it is starting to look a little dated next to other android phones. It still is the benchmark of all phones. I just have an android because for me it is cheaper to have and own. If i had the money i think i would try an iphone.
@YCCA9K Well i bought a Motorola Triumph with Virgin Mobile. So its a prepaid plan for me. If Iphones came onto prepaid devices i might just try it. And sure i know you are going to say "But the triumph is 300 dollars." Yeah sure i overindulged on that but i could have bought virgin mobiles optimus v from target or best buy a few weeks ago for less than 65 bucks and still had the android experience. There are cheap ways to get Iphones and Cheap ways to get androids.
I had my first apple device in 2008 when i got my ipod touch and then i just loved apple devices and then after 2 yrs i got mt blackberry curve 8330 and almost forgot about my ipod and then 1 year later i got my first android and u just loved the features and i am now with the htc wildfire s after going with samsung intercept
the difference betweeen android and ios is like the difference between google chrome and internet explorer 9. internet explorer 9 is simple and very easy to use and looks nice but google chrome is so much more customizable and you can do anything to it. this is why i prefer android.

From an Galaxy Tab 10.1, Droid 2 Global, HTC Incredible 2, and iPhone 4S owner, I must say that both platforms have their good and bad sides. It all depends on the person. Nothing really bothered me that much on either platform besides the fragmentation of Android and the mockery I get from owning an iPhone.

I own an iPhone 4S and prefer it over Android. I've owned 3 Android phones in the past, but none were good. Sure, they weren't flagship devices, but the issues I had lied with the fact that I couldn't run anything that was made for my resolution properly. My current iPhone 4S is amazingly fast and always works great. Was thinking of trying the Galaxy Nexus though. ICS seems interesting enough, though I'd rather buy the Lumia 800 or Bold 9900 over the GN
i went from a iphone 3g to a captivate (which a faulty wifi adapter ruined the experience) to an iphone 4 (LOVE!!!!!). i probably would have stuck with the captivate if the wifi adapter worked. but i love my iphone now. <3

iOS is definitely better and 100 times more stable. It's never frozen on my iPhone 4S or iPhone 4. Android always freezes and is laggy and has a totally ugly UI. iOS has a huge App Store as well.
Well, for me, it depends on the situation. iOS is great for just browsing, and watching videos, and the jailbreak community is great. I'm using my iPod right now, because it's fast and it works. But on the flip side, android has so much more potential, but they haven't reached it yet. I like android's open-ness, right out of the box. I recently switched from iPhone to Android. I'm loving the 4.3 inch screen. I'll never go back to a 3.5. Ever. Also great to be free from iTunes. Only thing I miss is the silent mode switch.
Yeah I use an HTC Android phone and my mom uses an iPhone. I think they're both good phones, but I do like Android better. She has the 4s and mine is way faster when streaming vids, downloading apps, loading web pages, and general navigation within the phone. Apples apps do run a little smoother though. But there hasn't been an apple app that I couldn't find the same or a comparable app in Android market. Overall they're both good phones but I like Android better. 4G is a plus for Android too.

Apple bad hardware quality and ridiculous warranty is my main reason why I don't want apple.. Non flexible design isn't equal to quality, especially when it's made of glass. it I don't want a phone that explode in to glass fragments when dropped 3feet. Exposed glass edges make it 10 times more fragile than the competition, No gorilla glass, fragile back plate, and steal frame that shake the internal hardware apart when dropped.. Motorola defy+ is much closer to the perfect touch phone..
I used to love Windows and Linux (yea... both). Thought that Android should take over the world. It kinda did, but all these beta experiences, security vulnerabilities and mandatory tweaking just to use the device made me switch to Apple.
Not a fan boy, but i see what Wilson is taking about here. Apple just made everything... integrated and sing with one another. It does work and works very well. Waiting for Google and MS to make some amazing stuff though.
I've had Droid X for a year and a half, and it was just totally unpleasant experience. I just hated Android Operating system. It just sucked. But for all my coding and college works it doesnt need to be upgraded so y spend money for no reason (at least for now). And my phone? Samsung Gravity dumb phone. I only do phone call and texting on it.

I tried an old HTC just like you a couple of years ago. I was not impressed....it was laggy, it didn't have many applications, and everyone who had one wanted an iPhone. One day I could finally get an iPhone 4S, and I'm very glad that I bought it. Android probably got better.......but I met an Android user, and he criticized Apple because he once had an old iMac from 2001 (he used it in 2010) and since it crashed he hated all Apple products. I don't buy Android because of the community.

ime, for a tablet, android works best for me as between ios and android, android is closer to a desktop os due to its customizations and widgets (that is until windows 8 comes out). However, for a phone, I am leaning towards wp7; ios is good but the overall interface and the sea of static icons are getting old. imo, the wp7 interface is fresh and sophisticated while the apps on wp7 look cleaner (ex: spotify, fb, twitter, stormy7, foodspotting, tech news now, wiz tiles. these are only a few.)

I was an android and symbian user.... like them a lot.... and then i didnt like windows phone.... due past experience with microsoft... i dont think is good enough... i think iOS is fine...so i keep investing on android but .... i realize how efficient is for windows phone....it works great....so i try windows phone.... it really is a good phone..... Form my experience iOS is a lot more focused and what it does it does really well, but it seems like when you want to do something there usually is only one right way to do it.(and it's for the most parts faster)
Android feels like it just tries to be everything, which makes you sometimes forget certain shortcuts and alike. Google integration is noticeably better, so if you use their calendar, gmail, contact ect. it's just awesome. and there is just certain minor things you can't do on iOS.

I have three phones right now bb iphone 4s and sgs2 . But I love the iphone 4s more than s2 regarding processor I think ( my opinion ) iphone 4s is still faster than s2 even with inferior processor . Its like comparing a truck to a car the truck might have more hp but it has to pull more weight the car on the other hand has less weight to pull so it might happen that the car will be faster than the truck ( stupid comment I know ) ;)

Ultimately Android has the better handsets, Apple has the better OS, for now and that's all in my opinion...

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note and an iPod touch 4 and I can honestly say IOS has a very slight edge here. It is a very stable and quick platform and has a plethora of apps and games, it's nearly perfect, but also very limited in functionality. Android however may seem a little less responsive than IOS, even with the iPod's slower single core processor and low RAM it feels much faster than my phone. BUT Android is more customizable and does alot more, but it is, like I said, imperfect.

@oHaZZaRo If you hack it like if you put on this one : Rocket ROM (look on xda sorry can't put link in the comment) your phone becomes WAY faster than the iPhone/ iPod with hacking but if you don't like hacking then just do the updates (there was a problem with the software on release). And remember ICS is coming ! It's just some software versions aren't good just look at the SGS II, it's faster than the 4S even on stock software.

@nico53laval Actually, There were 2 things I forgot to mention previously due to character limit. 1. I was comparing Android OS 2.3.6 with TouchWiz to IOS 5.0. 2. You're very right, as soon as ICS arrives the tables might turn, as long as TouchWiz doesn't hold it back, and concerning the rooting process, I was once again comparing them out of the box, and I'm sorry to say this, yes the SII is a really fast phone, faster than the note even with the slower processor...

@nico53laval ...BUT the iPhone 4S is MUCH faster than anything I've seen in my life (my friend has an iPhone) and my only explanation would be the OS, since the processor of the SII and the Galaxy Note is alot faster. For these few reasons I believe IOS is just a little bit better. I guess we just have to wait for android, as soon as the Galaxy line-up gets a taste of that, only then can we android users truly see our devices as premium.

@nico53laval I don't know, IOS just felt zippy, I mean yes Android could run well and at 30-unlimited fps but maybe once in a 100 scrolls it would just freeze and go back to normal functionality, this never happens to IOS. I really wanted to like the Note, instead I'm in love with it, but when I got my iPod, I had a different feeling. Yes it wasn't an iPhone but I always found something new to do with it until the day I got the Note (1.2 years later) the Note is still very young...

In my opinion as a newcomer to the Android world, it looks like a very bright future for Android OS and Ice Cream Sandwich is just the start.

From an Galaxy Tab 10.1, Droid 2 Global, HTC Incredible 2, and iPhone 4S owner, I must say that both platforms have their good and bad sides. It all depends on the person. Nothing really bothered me that much on either platform besides the fragmentation of Android and the mockery I get from owning an iPhone.
I am rather tired of people calling me a "apple fanboy" even though I have a Android decal on the back of my car and a Tab running Honeycomb. I just show no bias toward either side. Humm.

I often times use the bluetooth setting on my Motorola Xoom tablet. I later found out that apple devices only bluetooth to other apple devices.

I own an iPhone 4S and prefer it over Android. I've owned 3 Android phones in the past, but none were good. Sure, they weren't flagship devices, but the issues I had lied with the fact that I couldn't run anything that was made for my resolution properly. My current iPhone 4S is amazingly fast and always works great. Was thinking of trying the Galaxy Nexus though. ICS seems interesting enough, though I'd rather buy the Lumia 800 or Bold 9900 over the GN

iOS is definitely better and 100 times more stable. It's never frozen on my iPhone 4S or iPhone 4. Android always freezes and is laggy and has a totally ugly UI. iOS has a huge App Store as well.

Well, for me, it depends on the situation. iOS is great for just browsing, and watching videos, and the jailbreak community is great. I'm using my iPod right now, because it's fast and it works. But on the flip side, android has so much more potential, but they haven't reached it yet. I like android's open-ness, right out of the box. They have things such as widgets and the ability to download non-market apps without even a root. I have to admit though, I didn't have nearly as much pleasu

Yeah I use an HTC Android phone and my mom uses an iPhone. I think they're both good phones, but I do like Android better. She has the 4s and mine is way faster when streaming vids, downloading apps, loading web pages, and general navigation within the phone. Apples apps do run a little smoother though. But there hasn't been an apple app that I couldn't find the same or a comparable app in Android market. Overall they're both good phones but I like Android better. 4G is a plus for Android too.

For me, I bought the Motorola Xoom. Of all the tablets I researched I kept coming back to the Xoom. I love Android but lately I have been considering buying an Ipad because of the vastness of apps that are not available on Android and the screen is too small on the iPod touch...I'm torn but still use my Xoom daily...

Apple bad hardware quality and ridiculous warranty is my main reason why I don't want apple.. Non flexible design isn't equal to quality, especially when it's made of glass. it I don't want a phone that explode in to glass fragments when dropped 3feet. Exposed glass edges make it 10 times more fragile than the competition, No gorilla glass, fragile back plate, and steal frame that shake the internal hardware apart when dropped.. Motorola defy+ is much closer to the perfect touch phone..

I used to love Windows and Linux (yea... both). Thought that Android should take over the world. It kinda did, but all these beta experiences, security vulnerabilities and mandatory tweaking just to use the device made me switch to Apple.
Not a fan boy, but i see what Wilson is taking about here. Apple just made everything... integrated and sing with one another. It does work and works very well. Waiting for Google and MS to make some amazing stuff though.

I've had Droid X for a year and a half, and it was just totally unpleasant experience. I just hated Android Operating system. It just sucked. While it boasts its ability to customize your interface, it gets just annoying after a while. Resizing all the widgets and putting all the widgets here and there are just annoying tasks. I don't know. I thought I would like the customazibility of the phone, but once I started using it. Well. this time I decided to give an iphone a try. I will see how it is

I HATED vista so after that I switched to mac, to be honest it took me a week to get use to it but then after that I loved it, not to mention there's no virus problems ! I was reluctant like you to give mac a try bc I was a bit biased but I still don't own an iphone, I actually have a bb 9900 and I love it, because I'm not really into using my phone that much or playin games on it. I like the keyboard on the bb, I still don't like the touchscreen texting on the iphone, but maybe down the line ..

Wanna know y? cause I dont need to get a high-end pc and XP is stable enough for me so far (10+ yrs man. The best OS from MS so far). But i hate my laptop though (yah Vista sux). But for all my coding and college works it doesnt need to be upgraded so y spend money for no reason (at least for now). And my phone? Samsung Gravity dumb phone. My other friend has a iphone 4 and it has treated him nothing but good, they just seem more user friendly less stress and not having to do all these mods just to get what you want! sure you can jailbreak it but i just dont see the point anymore.

Funny how you stated, it's servers your purpose. I'm finding that Apple does just that. I'm tied of the whole Microsoft experience. The constant failing, rebuilding and complex menu structures to get the simplest tasks done. I do like Android, and prefer it those far more than IOS 5. I hope Goggle doesn't take the route that Microsoft has. All I have to say to google is ssssStop it and follow Apples model.

Yeah Lamrr!, I did the same after LifePluggedin episodes encourage me to try new things. So now I have a iPad 2 and iPhone 4. I was so tired of Android's slowness/force close despite "so called specs". Now windows is starting to give me problems and I looking into OSX and decided I'm getting a Macbook Pro (Layaway at bestbuy because I'm poor Lol) very excited! One thing I hate about apple though-they update all the time and I hate having obsolete hardware.How do you deal w/this?

My first smartphone was a Samsung something. it got stolen after about a month or so, then i bought the Nokia 5200. I still have it, but i really HATE it. it is slow, i got no way to use mobile internet and, well, it sucks. the only good thing about it is the speakers wich are ossum. then, a few months ago i bought myself an 80€ android tablet, and, well, its good for twitter, nothin else. then i tried out dads iPad, and i was HAPPY. it worked. im saving for an ipod touch right now.....

When I was 11, my dad was switching jobs, and his company said that he needed a laptop. They would give him a Mac for free (they wanted him to work with it) or a windows laptop for $600. He decided to go for a Mac, but was fuming for the next few days on his decision, because he hated apple. But after he got the laptop, he must've changed, because now I'm 15, and our house has four MacBooks, one iMac, four iPhones, an iPod touch, and an iPad 2.
