In a shoot interview, Lance Storm said he did not take a whole lot of pride in winning the IC belt. He felt WWE needed to sell the Invasion Angle and they needed a belt on a WCW guy. Lance Storm was the easiest choice because he was the quickest to adapt to the WWE wrestling style and didn't have any heat with the WWE locker room like his WCW friends. He felt that the reason for getting the IC title had nothing to do with WWE wanting to push him. He did feel good losing the title to Edge.

I mean he wasn't really that great of a worker (Not that I could do any better) and you never really heard a reaction when he was champion even at the Invasion PPV even though he was on the WWF side I didn't really hear anyone cheer him. and when Lance Storm won there was a hugh reaction.
