I just removed and making home made projector light I'm going to replace the plastic cover with clear PETG plastic just for fun....I will post my latest video as I finished my project.........peace outz
good luck on your project. I did something similar: bought DEPO brand, halogen projector headlight assembly. I removed the poorly designed DEPO projector inside and replaced it with E55/Maxima bixenon HID units. much better lighting as a result. let me know how your project worked out.
no, all you need to do is to remove the back cover to change the bulbs. Just make sure you put it back on tightly otherwise you will get water entering through it like on mine.
It's a little more complex if you have the headlamp washers. The panel can be eased free as per the video, bringing the washer unit along with it. Check behind the trim panel; the plastic cover snaps off the front of the extending jet housing. Looking from the front of the trim panel, there should be a single screw below the jet. When undone this frees the washer unit which can be pushed into the void under the headlamp to allow easy access to the lower outboard headlamp fastening
anyone knows where to get the w140 videos???

In the video the mechanic releases a strip of plastic from the trim panel with a knife. Why? Is this necessary? Thank you for your help.

96-99 does not require bumper drop to remove headlamp assembly. 00-02 does
waltrmitty 4 years ago
wtf u have to take the bumper off on some of these???

So why do I hear sooo much about 1999+ having to remove the whole bumper to do this??
ajent420 4 years ago
because the piece he removed in the video is now one with the bumper on the 00-02 model . its a part of their facelift
