Naked talent, no voice modulators to help get the pitch right like live crap now. Luther just brought raw truth and nothing less. This tune truly brings a tear to my eye, not in a love song and sad message way, but just for the the pure talent and sincerity of what he represented and was doing back in the 80's when he was comin' on.
