Consequently, for those of us familiar with the original this inevitably doesn't sound quite right. That said, as a fresh interpretation of the lyrics, you have, as always, done an excellent job. I'd strongly recommend that you take a lot at the Dylan songs 'Girl from the North Country' and 'Boots of Spanish Leather' both of which would suit your style admirably.

Unlike your cover of "Don't think Twice", which you interpret wonderfully, this loses the complexity of the original. The original wasn't intended to describe missing someone you love in a yearning romantic fashion (in the sense of being "head over heels with someone" as you describe) but rather in the desperate and tragic sense of losing forever the thing you love most. (the context is that of a breakdown of a marriage.)

Well played sir. I too was introduced to this song throuh Shawn Colvin and prefer her version to Dylan's original as well. Dylan was a phenomenal songwriter, but generally I'd rather not hear him perform.

I like what you've done with it. Very similar to Colvin's, but it's nice to hear it from a male vocalist. Your version lacks some of the dynamics and punch, bt that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a more even handed and laid back approach.
