  • what scale is that he uses? >< just pentatonic?

  • it's great during the slow blues solo you can hear the progression

  • oh how i wish he was my grandad

  • simple...and the best.

  • he is and will always be a legend in history of blues and soul music

  • @cucuta95

B.B has never been known to be a rhythm

player, and most of his career has been centered on his lead guitar and soloing abilities, which he usually plays in one key with very few notes (that's all he needs)

He's saying young players should pay more attention to the rhythm section behind them so they can make lead changes over the chords they're playing.

  • When BB king says learn the chords, learn the chord progression, what does he mean?

  • @cucuta95 your solo should follow the chords progressions. exemple, if you´ll play a song in G, you shouldn´t solo just in G...you should solo by the chords progression

  • @cucuta95 he means like take e major scale (yeah) the notes in that scale are, and to keep it simple keep it on the bass e string. so the notes are asending e, f sharp, a flat, a, b, c sharp, e flat and back to e. now the chords you would play instead of single notes would be emajor, f sharp minor, a flat ninor, a major, b major, c sharp minor, e diminished, and back on e major. that is the chord progression in key of e major you can mix those chords around and it will always sound musical

  • @cucuta95 When the band plays a G chord, you emphasize the G, B and notes, because they are in that chord. When the band switches to D7, you should be focusing on the D, F#, and A notes, as they are in that chord. Then you can get creative after that. It's a good start to understand how you are playing "over" the chords, "with" them... not just randomly playing within the scale. Hope that helps.

  • @HurdRandy That's G, B, and D. Not just G and B.

  • BB King such a great guitarist and gentleman :)

  • bb king is such humble guy and spiritual.. god,s gifted him a talent great stuff bb king really love to meet you london mole

  • his "noodling" warm-ups are way beyond where most other players will ever get.

  • i watch this sometimes to realise just how much i suck at the guitar.. hahaha he just floors everyone with one finger.. its all about the feeling!!!!!

  • he blows my mind just to show how he does the vibrato with all fingers.. 5:05

  • Its incredible, he's sitting there like your grandfather who's telling you a story about life and you just know: this guy has seen so much, probably more than you ever will see, and you really like to listen to him. And then again he's the total Guitar legend, and you would sell your soul and your body too to play guitar like him. Damn, im the total atheist but god bless this man!

  • What a fucking man. Puts clowns these days to shame

  • awesome guitar playing! What a nice guy too.

  • This King can play jazz just as much as blues... his solo's are kinda jazzy rather often :D

  • bb is proof you don't need to play every note on the fretboard or play at lightning speed to be king

  • @weathered79 You have to be born as a King :-D

  • i love when he says "I want the guitar to sing,... i want it to tell a story" that is what i always thinks when i listen to Jimi Hendrix like he was telling a story with his guitar, well alot of blues is like that and that is what got me into guitar :)

  • Paying the price of be The Boss!

  • am i the only one getting frustrated trying to do that single finger vibrato lol

  • @JayRocFly ...,i have met the man...and that is no single "handed" Vibrato"

  • then what is it?

  • @JayRocFly i was very drunk at the time this comment was made. after looking at it, i make no sense lol.

  • @JayRocFly No you're not, but I'm probably the only person using a bass.

  • i thing i can by a house with is ring

  • B.B. King is awesome! Classic blues, what a beautiful sound! It's very inspiring, and he's also a very good and modest person!

  • how in the hell... i mean what scale is he using? it sounds so awesome...

  • mix of minor and major pentatonic, but dont worry bout scales yet. just buy "Live at the regal" ( insane bb album ) and learn everything of it=)

  • traduscanlo porfavor

  • BB King is awesome blues guitar man!!

  • I love B.B. King. my top three: Hendrix, Clapton, B.B. King

  • my top three are 1.B 2. B 3.KIng

  • hes so modest

  • Haha BB King is absolutely amazing. I love the blues and his sound is immediately what i think of when i think of the blues. His tone is so great, it really does sound like the guitar is singing

  • I think it's not his tone that makes it sound like singing, but his phrases that resemble the notes and rhythm that one uses while singing. That's only what I think though.

  • BB KING

    s2s2s2s2s2s2s

Eu queo te ver, pelo menos um dia na minha , eu sei que vou te ver!

    TE AMO!

  • Lol what he calls "noodling" is basically in incredible solo .

  • Seeing him live on saturday!

  • BB's tone is fantastic.

Someone mentioned Slash... I'm not a huge fan of Slash's playing, though he is most definitely a tone master as well.

  • BB's tone comes from his fingers

  • wow his ton is completly orgasmic

  • someone said the same thing on a slash solo vid

  • but they dont have a clue xD slash sucks...BB forever!

  • now why do you have to be all negative

  • hehe i was just joking=) i prefer BB king but slash isnt that bad, i like it when he does blues jams

  • some ppl like the rhythm and powerful form of blues, cant hate that man

  • great stuff, a down to earth guy whos completely honest about his abilities..

  • Ghehe this is from the dvd

  • wow this is great. thanks for posting.

  • I like that guitar :)

  • That is a beautiful guitar he has.

  • Lucille isn't just beautiful, she sounds absolutely awesome too =D

  • Lucille was gifted to the late Pope John 2

  • what? I think lucille was stolen..

  • gifted to the Pope John Pope2 in2003 When BB King had an audience with the holy father:tempting one of BB's boy to remark" the pope is playing the Thrill is Gone",

  • in wikipedia they say "The original Lucille was stolen from the trunk of B.B.'s car in Brooklyn NY".. it also says the guitar was presented to the pope, but doesnt say it was given

  • no,BB gave it away

  • He did not.

The original was stolen in NY .

What would the Pope do with a guitar? Think.

The one hes playing now was submitted as fee for the person who could find his runaway dog. I dont know the ending of that story , but i doubt the pope found it.

  • He's had 15 Lucilles, he calls every guitar Lucille. And he did give one to the Pope. And one did get stolen in NY. The first Lucille was an acoustic with a pick-up installed, that's the one that he rescued from the fire and named Lucille. The other 13 just got retired I imagine...

  • hey BB, I assure you, there is nothing wrong with your right hand. one of the best ever.

  • what a guy

  • windows 7 is awesome.

  • this man is my inspiration

  • I love that B.B., he is such a good person and I wonderful musician!

  • this guy is inspirational. not just as a guitarist but as a person.

  • AMAZING, love this interview because it was made for GUITARRISTS, and not for people who want to know about BB. King's life.

He's amazing,BB King, Clapton and SRV forever!

  • I second that!

  • What's the song playing at 4:50? It sounds great.

  • Fantastic! very talented.

  • best vibrato i`ve ever heard. all hail the king of blues.

  • This guy is So Much better than that Chateroo guy here on youtube...

    its al about feeling.

  • bb king is a god among men. so sweet. his tone, everything. man. amazing.

  • lol

"i like...to make the guitar.... make it so its like...singin.."

  • whats the tabs for this?

  • you serious?

  • BB King is just like I he used to work on a farm just like me

    He is my friend.

    ronald

    holland

  • like ME you should say

    Karel

    belgium

  • I find it so fucking amazing that he has such a poorly structured musical background (limited chord work, limited alternate picking) and he can still play so god damn well.

  • lol yea and he talks as if hes a lost cause with the guitar like "learn this cause i didnt" and he more than likely could shit on anyone watching the interview. i like that about him though. if you watch an interview with johnny jones and compare it to bb king you can hear the difference in modesty. dont get me wrong i freakin love johnny jones and he has all the right to be as confident(not cocky) as he is, but bb king truly speaks softly but carries a HUGE stick

  • santo

  • BB KING, a maior prova: ser génio da musica não é preciso ser um "porra louca de substancia de laboratório".

    se é que me intende...rsrsr

  • dude his guitar spits a fantastic soup in my face that i wanna eat

  • BB KING!! ROCKS

  • nop... BB KING!! BLUES....:pp

  • LOL

  • No he isn't, in fact the "tremolo arm" or "whammy bar" you find on many electric guitar is actually a vibrato, and many guitarists use their hands to produce a vibrato effect. I personally use my hands to produce vibratos.

He has a somewhat distinctive style of doing vibrato.

  • "somewhat distinctive style"??

    more like insane "make-that-fucking-string-shake-like-a-motherfucka" vibrato

  • catapei you suck

  • bb king is an incredible human being

  • "I just call it doodling around"

I call it heavenly! Man, if just I could "doodle" like that..

  • awesome guitarist

  • what a pure tremolo, wow

  • so damn unique man!!!!..... he's got he's own world of music, it is because he FEELS the music... "you dont have to feed me....... this is already a food for me"... wonderful words from the king...

  • he is so damn cool...

his guitar sounds so fuckin smooth...i love this man.

  • BB king is a god i will anyone who says otherwise

  • " Learn the chords, learn the notes and the progressions. I didn't do it well, but you can" :DD

    Long live, B.B King !

  • bb king retired in muskegon michigan{his last show} , i didnt get tickets to see him , i missed out on the chance of a life time , the best blues man i have ever heard

  • damn, I saw in early May of 08, he's such a good person as well.

  • wow !

  • such a class act, i read in a book about the clash that when they were on tour once with BB that he put Lucille on the bed and BB slept on the floor.

  • Es el mejor músico de la historia. No es el mejor en lo referente a la técnica, pero es el que más feeling pone en la guitarra, toca lo que siente

  • Secundo tu opinion, amigo.

  • He's the best not cause of his technical skill but because of his feel, which you can't teach or perfectly duplicate. He plays those strings like they're vocal chords. Willie Nelson kind of does the same thing.

  • he plays nice music....just nice....happy blues my dad calls it...

  • such a modest person

  • definately..he never let the good life get to him.

  • 'nobody has to feed me'... haha brilliant!!!

  • conflicts with his image but its still brilliant! no offense to him, gives hope all of us who dont exactly work out enough

  • haha.. nar no offense to him because hes a complete legend in every respect...don't think he'd be the same guy without that image!

  • this is blues, the rest is silence

  • so clapton, beck and all the others are terrible? BB King is my favorite, but hes not the only one.

  • b.b king is the best guitar player..

  • possibly the most influential but not the best

  • theres a difference between influencial and best... theres no best guitar player as theres no rules to playing the guitar. if u play like urself and play like u mean it thats all that matter.

  • agreed 100%

  • yay!!!!

  • Obrigada por este vídeo!!! Não existe melhor professor. E que humilde, dizendo que não sabe fazer um montão de coisas...

  • he is great musician and i think one of the best!!!!!

  • "i would do this for HOURS" legends are made not born. play hard friends.

  • shredding can be music. even if you disagree you can't TELL a person what MUSIC is. think about it.

  • thank you.

  • He's got wise words for anyone who cares to listen..."work with the rhythm section!"

  • god, you can truly tell he feels his music through and through. true musician, and one of my personal favorite guitarists.

  • hes a great man god bless the king

  • he is so feaking modest

  • Right, most people are afraid to talk about their weaknesses, but he keeps it real!

    True Legend

  • Whoever made this interview was an idiot. These questions are on the level of a 10 year old.

  • who is the best ???? bb king or jimi hendrix ?? reply ;)

  • jimi hendrixs huge influence was bb king but its hard to say its kinda like paul gilbert or buckethead, paul taught him but buckethead is amazing....both amazing i guess you can never compare two guitarists.....amazing guitarists that is

  • ye...i think it to ... but it's a big question...so i ask it to everybody ... because i don't know the answer

  • There's no answer. All guitarists (and musicians in general) have their own style, each one completely unique in it's own way. It narrows down to who's style you connect with most. It's not hard to compare, it's impossible...

  • Both are great and it's very hard to say who's better. But I'll tell you one thing, NOBODY plays w/ more feeling than hendrix and king

  • great ;)

  • only a giant of soul can be so honest about his life as musician and, God thank you, what a musician!

  • from what year is this interview??

  • I love this man so much. Love is the word too.

  • i love how hes telling everyone else how he screwed up learning and how to do it better....and hes world famous

  • Such a humble man, this is great.

  • god B.B. King is the raddest cat to ever play, he seems like such an awesome guy. If I could smoke a doob or do lsd with anyone it would be B.B. King

  • Man.....i learned more here than i have in College !! Ain't he just fooking cool or what ?

  • he seems like a realy nice bloke

  • live forever BB

  • he will even past the day of his death

  • The day BB dies is the day my guitar cries.

  • Thanks for this.iv learned a lot.

  • Same here, I got addicted to the lick he's showing us for his vibrato :D

  • best guitarplayer ever, perhaps some ppl play better than him, but his things soung better than anything anyone has even played

  • That section on Vibrato changed my entire idea on soloing, BB King is an Icon!

  • lol, wow, his "exercises" are more advanced than my "solos"

    props to the master

  • if only todays guitar players where like him, now adays its o ur crap since u cant do 50 notes a second and lose melody. plus blues is diein no bands or solo artists play it any more(i mean noticed ones)all unnoticed play blues really. except those that been playin it for years e.g eric,bb etc long live the king

  • it would b pretty cool if him and elvis did a song. the two kings

  • Its so cool to see the king give a lesson

  • The music is IN him, and he IS the music. They are two in one. Amazing.

  • Yeah!

  • How jazz rooted his runs sound when he is solo like this beautifull.

  • this man.. he is an example of someone time who really understood the art of blues and playing guitar.

he's so legendary, he's human, he's so clever.

  • "it's like a sword that goes through me when I hear it"

    ....that gave me chills. Legend.

  • same here.

"I could never do any of that". he sounds so frustrated even though he is one of the best blues player to ever live.

it shows how humble he can be. he's a master, but not a master at everything. always striving to be better.

  • He's a creative player. He has a unique style that can't be emulated and shouldn't be.

Although it's obvious he doesn't know the terminology, but irregardless, he's still a blues legend.

  • Seeing him in febuary, B.B.King and John Lee Hooker are the reasons i play guitar.

  • i have no idea why u got so many negative points :S i agree its very good :P

  • does he have fat finger? i heard jimmy hendrix has fat finger is that true?

  • There are guitarists who are faster, more technical and have a broader range but this guy is part of blues history...he is a blues god! He's been playing like this for years and other great guitarists have learned from him. Take Gary Moore for example.

To top it all, this man is a real gentleman in the truest sense of the word.

  • He plays the same way I do. Some how I can't get that vibrato the way he does. He must have lighter strings than I do. B.B. King is main influence on the guitar. I've been listening to him ever since I was 4 yrs. old.

    B.B. King is the man!

  • Truth is pretty much nobody can play like BB so why not try and get yer own vibrato tone? Lots of people try to copy but its not the same.

  • I don't think it is, at least for me, trying to be BB or sound like BB...but it IS trying to get a really lovely singing tone! So many "Blues Lessons" and "teachers" show the student how to do Vibrato wrong. They bend the string all to hell...If you want to learn Vibrato you could do a lot worse then studying video of BB...

  • BB KING lol he said i call it noodling or doodling lol ahahhaa

  • MAN I love BB!!

    He's a living legend...what more can I say!?? ;-)
