Ohio laws do say the bar owner can post a "no firearms" sign and even CCW licensees cant come in with a gun. Also, you cannot conceal carry in if you are drinking. This makes sure anyone stepping over these lines can be charged.

(not 30 gun owners.. 30 guns - src:wikipedia) The US has 90 guns per 100 citizens. The UK has over 4 times the violent crime rate as the US, and around 5 guns per 100 citizens. Of course, statistics don't really mean much, honestly, there are waaay too many factors. Google "UK most violent" for the stats I am citing.

@jim6584 Carrying a handgun does not make a permit holder. One needs a permit in Ohio to carry a handgun. I don't know how stringent the requirements are, but I doubt these guys took the time to bother with permits. If handguns were illegal in Ohio, this would still happen. This looks like a gang style shootout to me, and all the legislation in the world will not prevent it.

It is the attitudes of the people with guns that make the difference, not the guns themselves. Do cops go around shooting at people in bars because they got into some petty argument or got insulted? No, they don't, and that is because they have a resopnsible attitude concerning guns. Did anyone in that shootout actually have a license to carry a gun? Was it even legal for them to carry guns there? Their violation of the law shows that they didn't have a responsible attitude.
Were the individuals with guns carrying them legally? People who go to the trouble of getting the necessary licenses and permits are much less likely to commit crimes with guns.

Ohio laws do say the bar owner can post a "no firearms" sign and even CCW licensees cant come in with a gun. Also, you cannot conceal carry in if you are drinking. This makes sure anyone stepping over these lines can be charged.

(not 30 gun owners.. 30 guns - src:wikipedia) The US has 90 guns per 100 citizens. The UK has over 4 times the violent crime rate as the US, and around 5 guns per 100 citizens. Of course, statistics don't really mean much, honestly, there are waaay too many factors. Google "UK most violent" for the stats I am citing.

I don't know how stringent the requirements are, but I doubt these guys took the time to bother with permits. If handguns were illegal in Ohio, this would still happen. This looks like a gang style shootout to me, and all the legislation in the world will not prevent it.

@aeronut19 If the penalty was so sever, say a mandatory 25 years, when you get caught with a handgun without a permit that you would have to think long and hard about carrying. It isn't going to stop some people from carrying illegally but it COULD stop crazy shoot out like what is in the video.
Also I hate the fact that people can conceal their handguns. If you're gong to carry then wear it on your belt so I can see you're carrying. If I don't want to be in the same area as you I can leave.

I think you're confusing criminal behavior with the behavior of those who carry legally. Do you really think the clowns in the video were legally permitted to carry concealed weapons? From the video, I'd call that a VERY dubious assumption to say the least. Their appearance, behavior, and gun handling all suggest to me they are simply reckless criminals. I'd be shocked if a single one of them was carrying legally, which begs the question, how will making CC illegal prevent this sort of scene?

People who obay the law and have a gun permit would not do this. These were criminals who probaly did not have a permit. In texas you can not carry a gun into a place that gets 51% or more of their profits from the sale of Booz Permit or not. I still think that if your 21 years old and have a permit you should be able to carry you gun on to a college campus, If that was the law the virgina tech shooting would have been stoped quick

its not about everyone carrying a gun but having the right to carry a gun. If you can get a permit then you should be able to carry it everywhere. What the debate should be that people who want a permit to carry a concealed weapon should A) have a thorough background check and B) should take a gun safety course before receiving a permit.

It is the attitudes of the people with guns that make the difference, not the guns themselves. Do cops go around shooting at people in bars because they got into some petty argument or got insulted? No, they don't, and that is because they have a resopnsible attitude concerning guns. Did anyone in that shootout actually have a license to carry a gun? Was it even legal for them to carry guns there? Their violation of the law shows that they didn't have a responsible attitude.

It is actually illegal to carry a firearm into a bar in Ohio. So, in that scenario, you would have thugs with guns breaking the law, and unarmed citizens obeying the law, standing there to be shot for insulting his meager manhood. You can see from the idiot dancing around outside, holding his pistol like it was his penis, that these are not responsible, intelligent gun owners.

The crux of the matter is this: I own a handgun, and a CCW permit. I practice regularly, am usually armed, and am a very good shot. On the offhand chance you are dining with your loved ones in a quiet restaurant and a crazed madman begins randomly killing patrons, making their way toward you and your family… do you want me there or not? If the answer is no, fair enough, your funeral. If the answer is yes, then what exactly are we arguing about?

In the UK we have no guns, and gun crime is, wait for it, 0%.
We do have a problem with youths and weapons, but I'd rather kids walk around with bats and plastic cups than guns.
