  • How would I parallel a signal through compression (1) channel uncompressed and (1) of the same instrument through a compressor? This is a studio trick.

  • @85bmw528eguy Are you talking about upwards compression or side-chain compression? Your description wasn't all that clear. You can actually do upwards compression on a single channel with the LS9 as long as you don't need the other dynamic channel. As far as side chaining you can use any other channel.

If you want to just double a source to a different channel you can do that in the patch bay by selecting the same input for 2 different channels. Describe the result and i can tell you how.

  • @flixelflit I think you explained it. Thanks for your help. That was what I needed to know.

  • Terrific, thanks for the help. I fumbled thru a save and I think I'm on the right track.

Now that I saved the settings to my USB, is there a way to adjust the settings on the USB file while plugged into my laptop? I remember a comment from the former sound guy; said that there might be a Yamaha app that would allow me to work on the settings as if i'm at the board. Is there such an app?

  • @nbg808 Yes there is a Windows app as well as now a Mac app that allows you to make adjustments then save. Note that not all options are available in the software. You can go to studioconnections web site to find the software from the original group that made the software. Or, now that Yamaha has acquired them, a few years back, you can go to their site yamahaproaudio.

  • I started sound training recently for my church as a backup. Where, if available, in the manual do i find how to save our setup on a flashdrive/thumbdrive? We borrow a school's LS9 each weekend and as a guest we have to often start from scratch after the students play with the settings. the best to you --

  • @nbg808 Pages 199-201 of the ls9 manual show how to load settings on to and off of USB. You can basically back up their board and then completely alter it with your own settings then reload their settings when you are done and they will never be the wiser. You will need admin rights to do this though. If memory serves me their are things like Admin settings and guest settings that don't save with the file. Pretty much everything else does.

  • Hello. Would you please tell me how can i realize delay for one of outputs?

    In advance thank you.

  • @MrCelamoi Go to "Systems Settings" then go to "Output Ports". Choose your output and adjust the delay.

  • @flixelflit thank you very much, kind wishes.

  • All right, uhh, moving on, uhh.

VERY difficult to listen to this video

  • You assign the tap tempo on the user key for an effect processor by the processor or by the current processor on screen.

When you go to chose your user define key you can select which effect rack in order to specify a button to a particular delay.

Let me know if i can be of any more help

  • Hi!

How do you assign a user key for tap tempo for a mono delay?

can you assign the tap tempo only to one effect and not all? how?

    Thanks!

    James

  • @GMSamuelRhine the bitrates are pretty standard and i challenge anyone to tell the difference between a 320kbs and a uncompressed audio on everyday speakers. You can argue all day long but unless you have highly articulate studio monitors you are not going to notice a difference.

As for hooking it up to a PC you can...but it's never just that simple. You would need a capture or converter interface to convert the outputs of the LS9 to a data stream that the computer could record.

  • ohhhhhhhhh wauuuuuuu this is fabulous very good console for the soud reforcement

  • very good job...

  • Hi there! Very nice video! But I would ask you, if you intend to make another fine video, to include some of the basic stuff. In a way like drawing a schematics, in a layered form, from the big picture to the small ... I always get lost in the sea of possibilities and options ... I do some mixing in an amateur theatre stepping in for a friend of mine and they got the console a while ago well if you are done filmin I will at least ask you a question once in a while.

    Thanks again for the video.

  • Love the ls9 and m7,but recently bought 3 midas pro6 consoles and they cant be beat.

  • Uhhhhhh uuuuuuuummm

Man that's annoying. Couldn't watch the video. Too many acronyms.

  • but...how can i use the efx ????

    step by step???

  • One thing that I did not get was the channel link! how do you link faders like that? Please respond, I am a mixer for my church and this would be a very good technique to learn. Thank you very much for the overview!

  • Great Vid. Love the LS9. Even bigger fan of the M7CL of course though. The TFT Touchscreen sure is handy! Currently our Church is running two 01v96v2's linked to each other for our main system, but we're just about maxed-out with what more we can do with this setup. We run an M7 for our National Conference and LOVE it. May move to the PM5D this year for that.

  • great desk

  • how the hell to i recall the scene to Flatten all channels/graphics/turn off phantom and take the HA gain to zero? im sure its there somewhere but couldnt find it!

  • I think you shoud post anuther video about LS9, and how excectly do you program the UDks?

  • press setup untill you see the user defined keys

  • Does anyone know; Is there such a setting that does the following: When I switch off the [ON] key for any given channel on 'Home' it will also switch off that channel in all or specified Mixes/Monitors (Keys 1-8 in the Mix/Matrix section)

  • its in the setup section

  • OK. Any idea where exactly?

  • LCR mode?

Please show us the basic set ups. Assigning channels to outputs. Designating outputs. Make a video I can show to someone, hand them a board and get sound out of it.

  • is very good fine this video please can u put in spanish to because for many person is dificult undestan

  • My church is having this console installed in three weeks. We currently have a very old 12 channel analog mixer made in about 1960. Any additonal information would be helpful. Thanks!

  • Why would a church need a 32 channel digital console for $9000? I've mixed mid sized concerts with a 24 channel analog, why go so big?

  • You need to read up on the LS9

  • That doesn't have anything to do with what I said.

(Yes I know it's actually 64 channel, but only 32 inputs are usable without extra hardware, such as an AD/DA converter)

  • No I mean you really need to know what the board does before making the arguement you were trying to make. I'm a old analog man. Bought a LS9. Saves me time and money and I get all the benefit for very little outlay.

    cheers

  • BBBB....eautiful console its a wonder full mixer...

  • Great video, I wish the soundguys at my church would watch it, they NEED some input on this board.

It's a great console but so many of it's features are being left untouched at my church.

  • I've used this desk several times over the last year and still learned a few nice tips from this video. Good post

  • A great video! Thanks dude

  • i just got a m7cl and love it, i wish i would have watched this video earlier because it would helped me a little because your board is similar to the m7cl, but i've got it all figured out now and without opening the book. It's a pretty simple board if it only took me 4 days to learn it without experience ever on a digital console. thanks for putting this up for the world, now i've gotta find a video for a mackie onyx 24

  • thanks a lot

  • This video is a great help, just been working my new desk whilst watching this video. Thanks very much.

  • I just ordered this console today for my church.I've been reading the manual but this video is a great learning tool. I'll send the link to my

    tech team.

    Blessings

  • I love this desk, I'ts really easy to use, sounds great and live mixes recorded to the mp3.recorder are amazing! let me know if u want to hear an example.

  • Really cool video, ive been using big analogue desks for ages, but ive yet to get the chance to get behind a digital desk.

  • Hi, Thanks for the overview and have recently bought one so your video was very helpful and waiting for the next video from you, jackie
