It is very important for people to be able to admit that they were wrong. I was for it as well back then, but have changed my mind as I have seen the results. I stand with Fred.
Ron Paul has changed his postion against the country he grew up in. His debate comment:
"Did US foreign policies "cause 9/11?" The terrorists didn't attack New Zealand or Switzerland, did they? Sure, they may have happened anyway, but with the level of anger towards us throughout the Middle East over our perpetual meddling in their affairs, isn't it time we tried something different? "
Ron Paul has been steady on foreign policy since 1976, non-intervention. If we continue to think they attack us because we are rich and free we will never be able to accurately address the problem. They attack us because we are over there. This is a fact you can read in the 9/11 commission report or "Dying To Win" or "Blowback" or "Imperial Hubris" or any other reputable pre-election season books and writings
So you'll take the risk of voting in an isolationist because you don't want to vote for someone who can admit mistakes? That's kindof insane, considering where isolationism got us the last two times we tried it...
Ron Paul wants to close down all military bases in foreign countries. That's isolationist. The two times I'm referring to are WWI (e.g. the Lusitania), and WWII (e.g. Pearl Harbor).
That's not isolationist, it's just moving our forces for national defense we will still be trading and investing and traveling with these countries. Freedom spreads when you put forth a good example, not when you put a military base in someone else's country.
facts about Ron Paul:
Won more straw pols then any candidate
Won more post-debate polls then any candidate
more then 100,000 thousand volunteers
6.5 mil record breaking fund raising in 1 day
more donations from military active/retired
awarded taxpayers best friend 10 years in row

While your response was very true!
You should learn from President Carter's mistake;
Americans don't want to hear the truth
or look inwardly.
Your comments could hurt you
while yet being honest and necessary!

OUTSTANDING response!!!

I admire him for admitting a mistake. That shows good character.

I still like No Child Left Behind, but Fred makes a powerful argument.
5 stars.

ThinkMink15, Fred can win and Ron cannot
Fred was wrong on this and on McCain-Feingold but Ron was wrong on MANY other things.

Thing is Fred can admit he was wrong on the vote.

the thing is that Ron Paul has NEVER changed his position. That is a FACT

Ron Paul flip - flopped on the death penalty.
He was for it when he ran for President as a Libertarian in 1988 and is now opposed to it.
melissamactear 4 years ago 2
I'll need proof of that
ThinkMink15 4 years ago
He is still for the death penalty, he just doesn't want the federal government to use the death penalty because of their ineptitude
equationmommy 4 years ago
Which is still a flip flop since he wanted them to use it when he ran for President as a Libertarian in 1988

we are over there because they attacked us. the enemy has to understand, if you kill 3000 of our own people YOU WILL FUCKING DIE

This comment has received too many negative votes show
So he admits to a flawed voting record?
He points out how he voted for a big government project than talks small government for the rest of his time.
I still prefer the honesty and steady voting record(over TEN terms in congress) of Ron Paul

Ron Paul is not an isolationist
What previous two times are you referring to?
