However there is one death missing in the vid - the UFO killing you at the cage part when you wait too long.

This the inspiration for Fumito Ueda's under-appreciated masterpiece, Ico, I am led to believe. It certainly looks as ground-breaking (for the time), but I don't see the similarity other than they're both of the platform genre. But then that is why Ueda is a g'damn genius...as his imagination took that inspiration, and then he made something very unique.

great play! but I don't know why are you trying to pass the guy that shoots things on the floor in this way, because it is much easier than that!!! simply when he shoots you you have to walk to the left and make the door to close. Then his shoots will rebound and kill himself!!!

but there's something I've found strange: in the version I'm playing (for Snes), when the guy pulls Lester by the hand from the ceiling, he takes him to somewhere BEFORE the ship part, with lasers coming from a hole on the ground. did you do something to skip that part?

At 15:50 you are supposed to open the triple door by walking through them, then just walk back when the enemy throws grenade at you, so it bounces back and kills him. You took unnecessarily hard way to kill him.

Its a bug in the game - youre not supposed to run to the next screen when you get surrounded by the 2 guys. When you do anyway you see what happens in the video ;)

All these 3d games out now are supposed to be more advanced and realistic but when we watch a movie it is more like this as we get a lot of side views with things happening in the background and foreground like this game. I feel that 3D games are a blind alley when it comes to game advance and something has been lost in the jump to 3d games. Another 'next step' in games could be be some scenes from the side, some from above, or from first person, from behind etc, etc.

aw man...i played this a long time ago..downloaded it..and theres this added level i have no idea to beat. i can do everthing BUT this level. everyone is dead and i've got no where to go. when you killed that guard jumping over the bombs...i was in awe. you can just walk into the door and walk back out. he kills himself.

I wanted to see if i can smuggle in a little extra scene ;)

I made this whole scene in Deluxe Paint V (was a lot of work) by grabbing the original recharge animation from WinUAE then i converted it to a GIF Anim and then to an IFF Anim.

Then i changed the orignal animation till i was happy and re-recorded the whole thing from WinUae again.

The final result is not too bad i guess, but of course never happens in the actual game :)

I played this on the Genesis and loved every second of it. All the going back if you missed one thing certainly did annoy me, but it was all worth it in the end. A truly fantastic game and a truly fantastic speed run. 5 stars.

There were a hell of a lot of ace games that looked a lot like this. I'd name them, but I can't remember what they're called...

I had one of them, and the sequel to it was called 'OnEscapee' or something like that. I had the demo for a game which looked remarkably similar, which started with you standing on 'a barren looking planetoid', and you had to jump on a dustcloud to be able to jump on a big pier in the middle of space...
