Know what I think. I think who cares if they find the cure the show will be OVER. And thehindmost88 the disease is not airbourne sorry to tell you but it was probably a government project gone awry. I think Jenner, told rick that "he is Immune to the virus"... If you think about it Rick was in the hospital for a month, feeding off the machines && NO NURSES or NO ONE attended to him, while he was in critical health. Rick SHOULD HAVE been dead, Jenner took a blood test so he would know, Shane also said he put his HEAD straight on his chest, and didnt have a heartbeat. He maybe died and came back, & the virus could have helped him with that, even though he's immune.... Just a theory !!

That's what I thought to, about Lori being pregnant, but I think that the whole "everyone carries the infection" part is way better. I've read up to book 7 or 8 of the comics, and I was hoping that they'd somehow fit that scenario in there.

If you die period, they should have said. The Walking Dead refers to the people that are still alive, like Rick and the gang. They're the Walking Dead. Everyone has been infected, so if they get shot and die, die of old age, die of cancer, get ran over by a car, anything that kills them that doesn't damage the brain, they come back.
@MythicalSausage I'm staring to think that too, especially after last night's episode, "18 Miles Out." There were those two security guards who became walkers, and Shane and Rick notice they have no bites, and just assume maybe they got scratched. But I started thinking maybe they died in another way, but came back anyway.
They didn't assume they were scratched, they found scratch marks on the security guards but no bite marks. Meaning if you get scratched, it's just as bad as being bitten, which holds true from zombie lore too. As long as you get zombie dna introduced to your blood stream, be it from skin cells from their fingers when they scratch you or saliva from a bite, then you die.
Plenty "goes on" on the farm, eboy1016. Everything can't be blood and guts. You must have character development for the story to continue and thrive. Zombies blowing up would get old. It's a drama set in a zombie apocalypse. Sounds silly, but that's what it is. Very emotional. Heart wrenching. Shane's coming unhinged. Rick better watch his back.

@swinnerd Just in the comic they find out that even a person who dies of a natural death will come back. So far in the series there haven't been any natural deaths shown. Only deaths by bites.

@sch3ffs The bite causes a separate infection that causes a fever and death. The disease that causes zombification (god I've always wanted to use that word) is different. It's an underlying infection that is transmitted through air. You're infected, but it doesn't kick in until you die.
@TheTooSmooth Well they haven't definitively said or showed on the show that infection works like it does in the comic, and with the fact that they even did the whole virus explanation at the CDC makes me think they might not. So that's not written in stone as far as the show's concerned.

i actually do know what he was saying! in the early part of the episode he is takin blood samples of everyone to make sure they are not contaminated however you can be infected and not turn until the moment of death. its not explained in the series but it is real part of the story. what he tells rick is who is infected and who is prone to the contagion but i will not say! u will have to c.

@XE222 if they all carry the infection then why dont they all die of fevers. The infection gives them a fever and the fever burns them out. So if the bite doesnt give them the infection why does it give them a fever?

My question is why if it was airborne and they all have it do they not show the symptoms of someone who has been bitten and gotten the disease? Why do they only get the fever if they are bitten? If they have the virus, and the virus causes a fever, wouldnt they all die of fever? it just doesnt make sense that they already have it and dont show symptoms

@sch3ffs The bite causes a separate infection that causes a fever and death. The disease that causes zombification (god I've always wanted to use that word) is different. It's an underlying infection that is transmitted through air. You're infected, but it doesn't kick in until you die.

@TheTooSmooth Well they haven't definitively said or showed on the show that infection works like it does in the comic, and with the fact that they even did the whole virus explanation at the CDC makes me think they might not. So that's not written in stone as far as the show's concerned.

i actually do know what he was saying! in the early part of the episode he is takin blood samples of everyone to make sure they are not contaminated however you can be infected and not turn until the moment of death. its not explained in the series but it is real part of the story. what he tells rick is who is infected and who is prone to the contagion but i will not say! u will have to c.

I think its somthing like that everyone has the Virus, just that its not activated before u r dead or get active virus inside u (bite). It would explain much, and that makes sense also because Jenner says "The day will come when you wont be", BECAUSE as long as people die, the infection and Pandemic situation will never end...

I think u all need a TV Saga 101 Lesson ... what the guy said to Rick is not meant to be know by us, Hell the script writters themself dont know yet (since they dont follow the novel). This scene is what directors call an ''ambiguous open'' it could be used in later seasons of the show or it could be dropped, either way it wouldnt affect the logic and linearity of the plot.
