  • @mastermusic99 Partial Italian? :)

  • @mastermusic99 Mafia is sicilian. And yes you will probly say they are the same thing, but not 100% correct. There are other forms of organize crime with in Italy. ex. Camorra from Naples and Ndrangheta from calabria along with others.

  • If I'll have a son, I wish he'll be as handsome as Al Pacino. :)

  • No wedding is complete without a couple of shotguns :-)

  • Whatever happened to this elegance and class? Where are today's Apolonia equivalents? My god how far has this pathetic society degraded too.

  • @PrismaMD What, you mean extortion? Real classy...

  • @PrismaMD Snooky rules now,

  • @PrismaMD Great statement and so true. It saddens my heart as my family were old world Italians with virtue and honor and it seems as though all these characteristics of a person have been discarded. Were sinking into a miry pit in America

  • @PrismaMD

I agree with you 100%. Italian-American culture is a beatufrul, classy, and successful culture. but the Italian-American society allows the Snookis to replace all the Apolonias, this beautiful culture will ferment into something awful. What must be done to stop this?

  • I'm African American and I love Sicilians and Italians

    and Also Al Pacino

  • THEY ARE PLAYING BRINDISI FROM LA TRAVIATA!!!

  • Those ladies throwing grain look like they're completely clueless. They always make me laugh xD

  • Poor Appolonia had a tragic death

  • Minkia, ancora 'raccusi 'i fannu 'i matrimonie a Corleone?

  • @MarlenaEdwards yes, apparently his paternal grandparents were Corleonesi

  • this morning i've been there :) and took many photos :) also in the bar vitelli...!! Saluti dalla Sicilia!

  • @simo7980 I was there last week too! Both in the church and Bar Vitelli (and the creepy crypt in the convent). Savoca is a beautiful, peaceful village, hard to believe it starred in such an iconic film.

  • In Sicily the surrondings are allreasy beautifull enough you dont need 50 grand for a 4 hour wedding ceramony.

  • I been to a few weddings in Sicily. They are normal beautiful weddings with class where the people do not have to pay a ridiculous amount for a plate that they don't care for and no one is throwing the food at you in a vulgar manner as though you'd been starving for days. Instead of paying to be stuffed like geese or having to refusing the plates, the bride and groom can have a real gift from what ever is given without having to worry about if enough is collected to pay the reception.

  • @lalgarify

This is the use throughout Italy. The families of the groom prepare the banquet with care because they do not want to make a bad impression with guests.

The guests bring gifts to spouses, I am amazed that in other countries they must pay for the food.

  • @Miauriceful hahaha, rediculus, those are unic traditions and only in all this area...long live sicely and calabria...

  • @genangel13

  • @Miauriceful also i didn't say to u rediculus,i ment the weddings in usa where u must pay for the food and i said so by laughing,so don't rush other time..

  • a dream <3

  • They made such a cute couple. Her wedding gown and veil is so pretty. This is how a bride suppose to look. She's not dated with her gown either. I don't like those sleeveless and strapless wedding dresses that brides are wearing now. It's dates the time.

  • @mshamiltonohio Thank you! I don't like them either, and I'm 20! Brides should be modest and covered up!

  • @mshamiltonohio - I couldn't agree more! I got married in 2004 and had to go to 3 different bridal shops to find a dress that actually had sleeves and a high neck (late fall wedding).

  • so proud to be sicilian! <3

  • I hate that Apollonia dies and Michael ends up with Kay. He loved Apollonia at first sight (and she with him). He would have been happier with Apollonia.

its a beautiful village about 1000 yeras old

  • pick it up you spoiled guinnea brat!!! XD

  • WHat is the name of these types of bands in Sicily/Italy that play this kind of music? They must have a label. Mexicans have Mariachis, and Irish people have those groups though I can't remember their name. What are these bands named? And this is the best version of this song I have heard. Where can I find the recording of this song?

  • @Hairmetaller86 I don't think they have a specific name...it's just a band. There are bands that play typical sicilian songs and they are dressed with the traditional costumes and they're called Gruppi Folkloristici but it's not the case!

  • To all who this this kind of wedding is just made up or on the movies Its very true My father and mother where married the same way My sister also.

  • what is the name of the wedding song?

  • The band reminds me of Portuguese bands, we are cousins of the Italians after all.

  • i want a wedding like that. she looked beautiful. i love her dress.

  • @chewy61790 a shitty wedding?......ok

  • Sicily the beast contry

  • You have to love the simplicity of all this. They don't do the ridiculous $25,000 weddings that are common in the USA nowadays. The brass band is nice, but of course, I could do without the guys carrying around luparas. ;-)

  • @anapanasati1970 I hate bitching about something small like this, but a lupara is a sawed of shotgun, not a normal one like the ones carried by his guards. It's called lupara, because when a large part of the gun is sawed off, it leaves wounds like a wolf does when he... well... eats someone. ;)

Forgive a german his awful english.

  • @Daffitt at start of Godfather Part 2 , when Vito loses his mother, she gets blown away by a lupara, by Don Ciccios soldato.

  • @BilboBaghead81 Yep.

  • sicily was the real wild west

  • @someboredguy777 Only the inner part of the island (still today a little bit) , not the coast!

  • Do Sicilians still keep the same wedding tradition until now?

  • @HockeyGirl514 yes they do. not all of them, but you can certainly find some of these old fashion weddings in many parts of the island (not in the big cities though). they haven't changed so much ;-)

  • @HockeyGirl514 No now it's totally different. maybe in small villages there are still some ancient tradition (like a serenade the night before the wedding) but it changes from town to town...

  • Amazing how a good movie with beautiful music and great photography can make so many want to live in one the poorest, most violent parts of Italy. Things were especially bad in those times portrayed in this picture - that is why half of Sicily wanted to emigrate.

A well-made film will talk some people into anything, it seems.

  • I visited the town where this scene was filmed, it's called Savoca.

I visited the church of the wedding and the bar Vitelli :-) these 2 places are still the same, I sat at bar Vitelli and had a drink, inside the bar there's a wall full of photos taken during the film making

  • @giorgia79sicily -- You are so lucky to have been visited the very same place where they filmed the Godfather.I seriously want to check it out too and I wondered if it still look the same now.Thank you for confirming it to us.I am going to Italy next month but unfortunately, i only have time to visit the North (Venice, Florence & Rome). Will visit Sicily FOR SURE next time and see the places you saw :) I like the view of it and the landscapes and beach !

  • @HockeyGirl514 These places are very popular...everyday lots of tourists (esp. Americans) go by bus to visit them!

  • Comment removed

  • @giorgia79sicily --@giorgia79sicily--Noted ! Thanks for the advise. I will sure keep that in mind :) By the way, Italy tied 1-1 with Paraguay LOL ! FORZA ITALIA ! Ciao bella !

  • @adrianapoli you were being very humble.

  • La obvertura de la traviata amica! perfavore!

  • Can someone tell me the name of the song at 1:09 ?? Thanks!

  • it remebers me the wedding in Albania back on the days great...

  • I don't understand why all those people left Italy. Same thing for the other mediterranean immigrants in the USA en Northern Europe. Searching a better life? What more do you want than a place to live, food, nice wheater and a good family life.

  • violence, not enough money...problems with other people.

  • I couldn't agree with any more!

  • Most of Southern Europe (Calabria, Sicily, Greece)

was devastated after WW2. Greece was plunged into civil war between the communists and the Monarchists. My ancestors were caught in the middle of it. In Sicily, After mussolini, the Mafia were left to run sicily. The mafia was to be feared. Not meeting to their demands would mean a blow with a shotgun to the back of the head. Siclians starved, and were dragged into dept. It was nothing rosy like u described it. Don't be so naive.

  • @KramericaIndustries2

Ok, but thats Silicy, what about those millions who left Algeria and Morocco..

  • People immigrate for all kinds of reasons. Sorry, But i, and probably many people here get insulted, when u say something so stupid. In greece, communists burned my macedonian ancestors village, so what did the greek government do? they hated them there anyway, so they forced them into a commie Yugoslavia. I would'nt be here 2day, if my ancestors had not risked their lives to flee Greece. Plz, study some immigration history, and shut the hell up, before you insult just any other ethnicity.

  • Well please talk for yourself. Life threatening situations are the few exceptions. Mostly, these are pure money isues. My ancestors too have left their homes to search a better life in Western Europe. They, like many others, thought that good working opportunities (money), healthcare, education, more freedom etc. would bring them happiness. But I can tell you many were wrong.

  • Im sure ur right. judging by ur channel, u liv in spain or france, and ur of north african descent. What i was saying about the Sicilians and the mob, or Macedonians and the Greek government, was that is was life-threatinging then, in the 40's to the 50's, most of the time, it is for financial reasons 2day, and those ww2 immigrants did find better working oppertunities. It was sure as hell better than a turk, a Nazi, or a communist knocking on ur door, and throwing u outside @ gunpoint.

  • @KramericaIndustries2 You're right, it was very much like that.

  • thanks for seeing my point of view. Friend?

  • @Amin4445 that there is now work maybe or work that is paid poorly unfortunately.

  • Apollonia sei bellissima

  • who is the guy in the wheelchair?

  • Guy in the wheelchair is Don Tomasino. See GF2

  • really!, hmm I thought it was like michael his dad... but I guess your right :)

  • What is the name from second the waltz dance michael and Appollonia what is the name this waltz plisssssssss

  • Hellenes Apolonians

  • mafia ..oh yes

  • It's "Mi votu e rivotu"

  • What is the name of the first song that plays after the church bells? answer to thi would be appreciated

  • were there originally subtitles for people talking when michael was in sicily?

  • Look at Don Tomassino in the wheelchair, a career of Gangsta Shit done on the Island of Sicilia! But Sicily has a Beach too, look up Mondello Beach

  • nice

  • I can't wait to go to Sicily so I can walk in those places and walk the country side like Michael did

  • @DonEddy you know its fiction dont you...

the least of the reasons to visit sicily is mafia.

in fact is the only reason not to visit this otherwise magnificent island with 4000 years recorded history.

  • Thanks for giving the name of the song...

  • the song is brindisi =)

  • I love her dress and veil. This is how they still do it some villages in Croatia and Italy, and family and friends pay respects.

  • @pinkseashells Why should some things change? And please keep the Sicilians alone. Why shoulden't they want respect. Don't ever talk back to your Mom & Dad or else you will not live todo it again.

  • @pinkseashells I envy your culture..
