Very informative and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, but you're so monotone...it's like being back in Geometry class...made me want to fall asleep.
Very good advice. Love that you recommend using a notebook to list items you feel you need on a daily basis. A couple of items I always keep in my kit that cost little more than nothing, are large contractor trash bags, and a pencil rather than a pen. I try to keep things as low tech as possible, and a pencil has a zero percent failure rate and you can write upside down with it whereas a pen can be temperamental, especially in cold weather. Good video though. Keep up the good work.
Are you serious? Do you carry this everywhere you go? That's more like BOB or car EDC. I wouldn't last a week carrying this everywhere I go, which kind of takes away the idea, that you are somewhat prepared even if bad situation will caught you with your pants down :-)
@driftoholik Pretty sure he said he takes it in his truck when he's off somewhere, so I'd imagine he doesn't carry it on his person as such, but it's EDC that's essentially accessible wherever he goes should he need it. As such it seems like a good system. I'm sure there's a couple of things here and there that could be modified, as ever, but he comes across as a level headed guy and it seems pretty sensible to me. I'd whack in some water purification tablets for sure however.
I liked how you brang up that eveyone has an edc, I usually don't go all out for the most part cause the few things you need for basic survival are solved almost instantly in most cases, I go on 5 things, knife, wallet, cell, lighter (including smokes with this) and a field message pad that work in all weather i literally tested it by writing while showering, I don't think people need all too many things to rely on but the basics
I think this is a great approach to creating an EDC it's not pretentious and doesn't assume that your way is best. I have just recently been introduced to the idea of an EDC and realized that I had already started making one myself without knowing what it was called. The items I carry with me are useful and come in handy time and again. Now that I'm thinking about it a little more seriously I look forward to implementing more ways and items of being prepared.
Love your philosophy and thoughts. Lot's of it does pertain to bugout and survival. I know my son and I could grab our packs and survive for an extended period but the rest of the family could or would not. My survival is dependent on the well being of family and friends and I can only disappear into the woods after I've done all I can for them. Nonetheless, I maintain and upgrade my gear constantly just in case all else fails. Don't understand the mocking comments here, you did a great job!
This is exactly the sort of tips you need when starting out your own EDC or BOB, alot of people just seem to want to show you their epic gear with no real explination why they have it or what you would use it for (im pretty sure i saw a guy suggest a blender? don't know wtf that was about) but the note pad idea is the perfect way to get a completely personalised EDC that works for you. darb1017 You've really done a service to the people who share your spirit.
Some ppl carry so much on them. It's nice to be prepared, but anything more than a few necessities (wallet, keys, phone) starts getting heavy and uncomfortable. I guess it's comfort vs. preparedness.
THE Best EDC guide video ~!!! Many starts too big wasting money on things that never serve its purpose, but only NEAT to collect. Make sense to start small and expand as needed base. Great idea.
In 'boot camp' we carried a poncho and canteen everywhere, in our cargo pockets; with that same mentality, 20 yrs later, I still carry simple emergency gear. Most sporting goods suppliers have affordable "space blankets", ponchos, and emergency shelters the size of a tampon. Throw these items and a good pocket knife or multi-tool in ur jacket and a hydration bladder with some water purification tabs...bug out kit to go.
They make this small flash light that doesn't require batteries. You crank this lever around and around and it charges it somehow inside. Don't know the name of it, but my parents got it for me. Just thought of it. I have to find that thing.
a bug out situation everyday is cumbersome. Not saying you shouldn't have it in your vehicle but not a good idea (my opinion) to make them them one and the same.
With the understanding that civilians have kind of taken the idea behind the "go to hell pack" aka bug out bag and made it into something completely different I would like to provide a little wisdom. I would not recommend the EDC and BOB to be the same bag for the sake of simplicity and weight. The items carried in EDC most likely will not help you in a situation to where you are possible facing a survival situation as well as having to carry a bulky bag with all the required gear for
@superjus95 I try to stay away from the "GI" look. Black is a universal color, that doesn't scream "MILITARY" like Drab can do. I feel it simply looks more like a camera bag. Just personal preference.
You said it's not a bug out bag but I have a recommendation. Having some length of wire handy to make snares for squirrels/rabbits could mean life-saving protein and since this is an EDC you would always be prepared. A fishing line and some hooks would also take up very little space but could feed you very well. Fishing line could be wrapped around something small like a backup flashlight without taking up virtually any space and you could even use the flashlight or stick as a fishing reel.
@musiceuphony Great advice. I have "upgraded" to the Mongo Versipack. Contains just about all you see here plus a (bail out/survival) case that bounces in and out of the pack/truck, depending on what I am doing.
im not trying to give u shit. but one thing that will help is basic skills. as in learning how to use the local fauna etc to help. yes tools help. but real skills help more. just saying having tools is good knowing how to use them is better knowing what to do when u dont have them even better.
@BlackBird10111 You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! All the tools in the world won't help when you don't have them. You certainly need to know about the area and where to find food (nuts, berry's and other edibles), potable water and natural first aid. Since these things are so different from state, and my knowledge base not being where I feel I could "teach" it, I don't focus any of my videos on it. I am also in a very urban setting...I could always loot! LOL Thanks!

Dude, your bag was the one that inspired me to develop my own edc bag. I started with a Fatboy...then to the Jumbo...now I carry the Kodiak. lol. Video attached. Anyways, thanks for the great video. ~Wolf
Good video. I like the note pad trick. Good idea on starting cheap. I ordered a clone of the jumbo versipack. I got it from cheaper than dirt for $30. It should be coming today. If it works out, once it wears out, I might spend the extra to get one from Maxpedition. I think everyone should carry useful things. At a minimum you should carry a flashlight, first aid kit, and water. I would also add a swiss army knife or multi tool to that.
I just use an UmbrellaCorp Laptop bag with my Sony VaiO and Sony HDTV Camcorder in it(plus all the cords, cables and flash drives, and external HDD).Main carry gun is Glock 19,with Walther PPK as backup.Leatherman Charger TTi as main multi-tool and ZT301 as main carry blade.21" baton if at night with surefire flashlight.

@tomek123kotek. an EDC. Is just the stuff you carry every day on your person wither in a pocket or a bag of some kind. That is what EDC is your keys, wallet, hat ,watch, money, pocket knives what ever is on every single day
kewl i am impressed. i am 56 yr old lady in nova scotia. altho i am a stroke survivor and dont travel as far nor as fast as i used to, i still get out in the woods alot and carry an edc too. may i offer u another tinder besides dryer lint? the lint works gr8 with my flint and steel but also the green old man's moss of the trees woprks gr8 too. just a thought. thx i really love this stuff.........karen
This is such a trend in the USA right now. VERY COOL ~!!! But in reality, most of the time you would not use it. You can spend TONS of money doing this. Its fun for sure. hehehe
@darb1017 Exactly! For something you don't realize how useful it is till you carry it every day. Other things you hope to never need. Like an emergency blanket.
@urkingod Carrying useful items can make things go much smother should something happen. If the public bathroom doesn't have any toilet paper and you need to go, you will be glad you packed the toilet paper. If you rip your pants, you will be glad you packed the safety pins. If you cut your self, you will be glad you have a first aid kit. The list goes on. While it's fun to play with gear, it's for more than just fun.
@urkingod This subject has ALWAYS been here!! Its only until NOW people are worried about our president / government and this country going to shit and being prepared! Terror attacks, threats, etc. For some of us its a way of life! Im 42 and been at this since boyscouts and I started that at 5,plus I was raised by a force recon marine that did 3 tours in Vietnam! And YES its alot of fun too! Its best to have and not need, than need and not have! Stay Alert,Stay Alive,Stay Safe!!OUT!!
The notebook idea was pretty genuine in my opinion, however in my personal EDC i dont always carry pen and paper, however i do carry a basic first aid kit (few mild painkillers, advil, tylenol, few pieces of gauze and a roll of cotton tape), a Benchmade 940 for basic cutting and Spyderco Tenacious as an emergency defensive blade (keep it razor sharp and in between my belt and pants). Once i become of age i'll expand my EDC into a concealed firearm, thinking of a Glock 27.
Interesting vid. Have you considered an emergency whistle as part of your EDC. I carry the Fox 40 Micro. The human voice has been found not to travel much of a distance in summoning help, or attract much attention in stopping an altercation; it just gets lost in the noise clutter. But the sound of this whistle carries long and will literally stop people on their tracks!
When I had it maxed out, I think it weighed 8lbs. Now it is down to 4-5lbs (depending if I have a beverage), and no computer. And I am using the new MONGO....Jumbo on steroids!
I like that you started with pen, pencil and paper. I have not seen this yet in BOB, EDC, or Urban Survival kits, but most take care of safety, health, and food. Not much has been said of the most important need to survive a chaotic, life-threatening situation.
Your spirit and soul. Carry one or two photos of loved ones to keep you going. If your're religious maybe a Bible or rosary (depend on your faith) or a harmonica like the guy on Discovery Channel to lift the spirit.
Man i liker a lot this pocket organizer, fits in any cargo pants, and looks very confortable to carry every day, i whis have one, always lose my pens or forget in the places
No suggestions. I just bought my bob and I am trying to get all of my edc together. Two things I need is a pistol and a camera. I was just trying to find a good camera on a budget.
When I made this video I was still using my little Cannon still shot camera, that has a video feature. Now I film with a Cannon d320. But I would REALLY like to upgrade to something that does 8-10mega-pix still shots, 5x zoom, video capabilities, Flash memory (or hard drive), and image stabilization for both pix and video. Any Suggestions?
if you working i would suggest a......leather man juice, its about 50 dollars but great for any thing, i have the leather surge but the wave is just as good
good vid. I definitely will keep this in mind for my edc. I love the idea of a multi-tool. I use my cheap little $30 everyday just for little stuff. it's nice to have and I think for edc unless laws prohibit the carry of knives or multi-tools then I think that it is a vital part of an edc. or at least for me.
Thank you. I believe it to be an ESSENTIAL tool...always takes notes of what you need, don;t need, and want. "Want" is different than "Need"! And who can't put a cheap little notebook and a pen in a back pocket?
In my 20's I would carry: watch, keys, wallet, small change, comb, pen and 3x5 cards. Computer PC hadn't been invented, and I didn't have a typewriter. My EDC evolved. A single sheet of paper folded in half 3x., will work well. When you get home open a new document in Word or Notepad, and carry a print. As you save a new version of the document, you may want to open a new folder for the project. Eventually you get better organized.Every kit needs a container.Modular kits are flexible. Be Ready!
good advices man. and that multitool example that you made was a worthy one. i actually started out with a 5$ one, when that broke down from usage (lasted over a year) i got a 20$ one. when that breaks i'll get a better one just like you said. and that not pad is actually an advice that can save a lot of money and a lot of nerves later on
Very informative and I appreciate you sharing your knowledge, but you're so monotone...it's like being back in Geometry class...made me want to fall asleep.

This is such a trend in the USA right now. VERY COOL ~!!! But in reality, most of the time you would not use it. You can spend TONS of money doing this. Its fun for sure. hehehe
urkingod 1 year ago
@urkingod you would be surprised how often I use the items in my pack. Plus, Better safe than sorry!
darb1017 1 year ago 16
@darb1017 Hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
18iscoming4you 1 year ago
@darb1017 Exactly! For something you don't realize how useful it is till you carry it every day. Other things you hope to never need. Like an emergency blanket.
purplemutantas 1 year ago
@urkingod Carrying useful items can make things go much smother should something happen. If the public bathroom doesn't have any toilet paper and you need to go, you will be glad you packed the toilet paper. If you rip your pants, you will be glad you packed the safety pins. If you cut your self, you will be glad you have a first aid kit. The list goes on. While it's fun to play with gear, it's for more than just fun.
purplemutantas 1 year ago
@urkingod This subject has ALWAYS been here!! Its only until NOW people are worried about our president / government and this country going to shit and being prepared! Terror attacks, threats, etc. For some of us its a way of life! Im 42 and been at this since boyscouts and I started that at 5,plus I was raised by a force recon marine that did 3 tours in Vietnam! And YES its alot of fun too! Its best to have and not need, than need and not have! Stay Alert,Stay Alive,Stay Safe!!OUT!!

Look at different firearms to see if you like the feel. The glock 27 was too small for me so i went with compact. thats just me.

LOL WOW. You must be a very muscular man LOL. All joking aside. Better to have and not need, Then need and not have. Right?
xxSURExxSHOTxx 2 years ago

Any Suggestions?

good vid. I definitely will keep this in mind for my edc. I love the idea of a multi-tool. I use my cheap little $30 everyday just for little stuff. it's nice to have and I think for edc unless laws prohibit the carry of knives or multi-tools then I think that it is a vital part of an edc. or at least for me.
grimtriggerman 2 years ago
like the pen and paper idea
scootydo1 2 years ago
Thank you. I believe it to be an ESSENTIAL tool...always takes notes of what you need, don;t need, and want. "Want" is different than "Need"! And who can't put a cheap little notebook and a pen in a back pocket?
darb1017 2 years ago
In my 20's I would carry: watch, keys, wallet, small change, comb, pen and 3x5 cards. Computer PC hadn't been invented, and I didn't have a typewriter. My EDC evolved. A single sheet of paper folded in half 3x., will work well. When you get home open a new document in Word or Notepad, and carry a print. As you save a new version of the document, you may want to open a new folder for the project. Eventually you get better organized.Every kit needs a container.Modular kits are flexible. Be Ready!

When you csqid the pouch was a bugger do you know what that is.
Bugger comes from the word buggery witch is performing anal intercourse just to let you know
but good video

you called your pouch a bugger witch is derived from the word buggery witch means to perform anal interourse

I think you may have misheard what I said. I didn't say buggery. Maybe "Bug-out". What is the time on the vid when I say it?

good advices man. and that multitool example that you made was a worthy one. i actually started out with a 5$ one, when that broke down from usage (lasted over a year) i got a 20$ one. when that breaks i'll get a better one just like you said. and that not pad is actually an advice that can save a lot of money and a lot of nerves later on
