After 4 years this song is still my favorite over all other Aghora songs. It's everything Female Fronted Progressive Metal should be as it utilizes complex meters, cross-rhythms, syncopated melodic parts, call and answer guitar and bass parts, and contrasting and soaring female vocals. The chorus is by far one of the best I have ever heard in terms of composition, general effect and balance. If only you guys would re-record your first album with higher quality sound!

@Autumnmaker en un aspecto musical el death metal es compuesto por afinaciones bajas en las cuerdas, riffs veloces y solos complejos, en la bateria igualmente la velocidad en el doble bombo convinado con lo tecnico en conjunto con los demas instrumentos, en este caso la voz siento q es lo q le pone la parte melodica! con voz gutural o no suena a death metal por q la musica lo pretende, santiago dobles lo dice al final el video!

@enrikecfh sin entrar en discusión, debes saber que el death se caracteriza por voces guturales, acordes atonales, distorsión pesada, riffs/líneas de guitarra rápidos y blast beats...creo entender tu confusión, ya que ambos géneros descienden en parte del thrash, pero estoy seguro que (incluso Santiago Dobles) pretendió un disco de metal progresivo altamente técnico y pesado, como deja entrever al decir que buscó a Neil Kernon por su conocimiento de la parte fusión y la parte pesada del metal ;)

REALLY progressive. The thing I love about them in particular though is that they don't force their progression. They have no problem changing their focuses around. GREATLY appreciated as a musician. Even more props for coming out of FL. I'm from Daytona and I've been to south FL, it's definitely not the metal scene it used to be anymore. A lot has changed and died out. So this is a great breath of fresh air.

They don't sound the same as Cynic, but they do have a lot of elements in common; not least of which are Sean Reinert and Sean Malone, both of which were on Aghora's debut album.

IMO somebody who likes Aghora but wants more harsh vocals is likely to enjoy Cynic, and it's not as if I'm shoving them down their throat or anything.

So if you have better suggestions, go ahead, but please refrain from unconstructive criticism such as this; it really does nothing to further the discussion.

I didn't say they weren't good. They are talented musicians; that's for sure. I'm not that much into female singers tho. In my comment I was rather talking about the fact that Cynic where real pioneers in this kind of music, they are just not on the same level for me.

Well for me they're also not as good as Cynic, but still a very good band. They're also quite different from cynic in their style, with a lot more influence from jazz, so it's also a matter of which style you prefer. Some people don't like growling for example so would prefer Aghora...

I'm also mostly talking about Aghora as they were on their self-titled album, with both Sean Malone and Sean Reinert on it. Besides the fact that's half of Cynic, the album itself was better than Formless.

@moneymail002 Absolutely 100% agreed. This album is too guitar and shred centric, I'm more on the laid back jazz approach of the debut. It was well... quite impressive, and a massive fuck you to the hypertechnical generation of bands trying to copy Atheist but failing to write good music in the process. Also I love Danishta's voice and how high and present it is. I just think it's lively, adorable (not particularly metal) and nothing against Diana, but... she kinda sounds "like everyone else".

I so totally agree!

This is a band that alternates complexity with simpler passages, quiet passages juxtaposed with heavier, and hovering over the everything, are the great female vocals.

If you don't want to listen to a band with those elements, there are many others that don't "ruin" their music with female vocals.
