  • that sugar you used is the best sugar ever =]

  • that ear mushroom is called "tenga ng daga" here in the philippines which means rat's ear. when i was little i used to think they were really rats' ears but i still ate them haha

  • Wow the batter part absolutely amazed me ^_^!~ Looks delicious <3 Btw... I'm allergic to eggs to I have to add the egg in the cornstarch batter??

  • @kyle556owns Adding eggs makes the batter mix better but if you can't eat egg, I think it will work without them.

  • OMG I just made this and it came out successful! My mom used to dislike tangsuyuk, but after trying ur recipe, she ABSOLUTELY LOVES it! :) Also it has two of my favorite textures in food: crunchy and chewy~ Thank you so much!

  • tangsuyuk with pork is the BEST.

  • OMG, thank you for the secret batter recipe. I tried your recipe with shrimp and it was SO delicious! Can you please make Kam Poong Saewoo (깡풍 새우)? Oh and can we open a restaurant together? You make the food and I'll be the one who samples all the food for quality control!

  • @Maangchi you should definitely open up a restaurant or put out some cook books! You'd have people lining up around the block to get in. We all want to try your food!!

  • how do i know when to use corn starch and potato starch???

  • the type of mushroom that u use are the cats ear mushroom... thats our asian people call it..

  • maangchi, if i wanna use pork instead, what kind of meat should i get?

    pork belly?

  • @laurysocheerful for tangsuyuk, I recommend pork loin, pork tenderloin, and pork shoulder part.

and what type of beef should i buy?

  • Whenever I watch korean dramas, I always assume that "tangsuyuk" was either pork/chicken! Lol. Now I know it's actually beef :)

  • @rachelyjs You can make tangsuyuk with either beef or pork.

  • Aww I love watching this video! The music, and the part where u say "Oh! I'm so happy!" is awesome! :D :D

  • I like the way you cook veggies quick and easy.Thank you Rose.

  • Thank you very much! : )

  • Is it OK to add the whole egg instead of just egg whtie? What does the sauce taste like? I mean which ingredient's taste stand out more in the sauce, for example, is it the apple, or the vinegar, or the pineapple -- looks like a very sweet sauce!

  • yes, you can use the whole egg. The sauce is sweet and sour. Check the written recipe on my website, please.

  • Chihiro is hot lol!

  • Chihiro should read your comment! : )

  • I am sorry, he is Joon.

  • haha, Joon will be happy to hear this! : )

    Thank you!

  • I made this for pot luck. It was good. The only problem is that after ther sauce get solid it is hard for me to make it fluid again. I heat the sauce and it burn out! What should I do? Is it better to eat it right away rather than put in the fridg?^_^

  • Of course it is better to eat it right after you make the sauce. When you reheat the sauce, add some water and keep stirring until it's hot.

  • This is awesome!!

I can't wait to make one for my friend!!!

  • is pork the best meat 4 this or beef or chicken?

  • I like beef tangsuyuk, but it depends on your choice. Many people like pork tangsuyuk, too

  • aigoo! i really want to make tangsuyuk!

i LOVE it in korea but there are so many different recipes haha

this recipe looks absolutely delicious! but i was wondering if the starch has to sit for 1-2 hours or is there an alternative quicker way? :O

  • "aigo!" no quick way. Be patient until all the starch is sunk. : )

  • what does "aigo" exactly mean? I hear my boss (who is Korean) say it all the time :)

  • haha, it means "oh,my god!"

  • My stomach is growling! Everything you make looks soooo good! You are an awesome lady. :-)

    corn starch: "ok soosoo jeonboon"

    potato starch: "gamja jeonboon"

  • You just gave me the best reason to go home this weekend from school and cook it myself. Or better yet, order it from a restaurant because i can't cook. That dish looks really delicious.

  • Happy New year Maangchi! I love all your videos! I have a question, I see that you love to use a lot of beef for your cooking, can you tell me what type of beef would be tender and moist? I have a sams club around me, do you think its a good idea to buy beef meat in big amount, and store them in the freezer? thanks a lot!

  • For tangsuyuk, you can use any part of beef that has not much fat.

  • OH I love you !!! I am from Ontario but living in Kansas since I got married in 2006. There are no Korean restaurants here and I love your food. • I really liked your Sujungwa video, are there any other drinks and beverages you could make?

I mean, as an addition to some main course meal. Korean food is delicious, but Korean drinks and beverages are too! Certainly better than the stuff people usually drink, like Cola, Pepsi and all those other stuff..

  • : )ok, sure, I will! Happy Holidays!

  • wow this looks really friggin good ;d ... happy holidays!

  • Mangchi is so cute lol, were you about to say Happy Halloween towards the end? This dish looks really good, it made my mouth water for hours after watching it. One question, do you have to keep the cornstarch solution in the refrigerator for an hour or just have it sitting outside on the counter? I've never seen anyone make it like this and it surely does look and sound crispy. Ahh, this dish is driving me crazy, I think I'll go out and eat that today haha. Thanks for sharing & Happy Holidays

  • Put the mixture of water and starch powder at room temperature for couple of hours. You don't need to put it in the refrigerator. If you make tangsuyuk next day, of course you had better keep the mixture in the refrigerator over night. Couple of hours is ok.

  • looks delicious. merry christmas! :)

  • Merry Christmas!

Maangchi, when I was little I used to mix cornstarch and water and play with it. It is tough is you try to force it, but like water if you are gentle! It was very amusing. ^^
