Yeah, when I played the first one and this one on the NES (a few days ago) I was impressed by the graphics, way better looking than the first Final Fantasy games on the NES and the music sounds very good for an 8bit game...whoever ported these games to the NES (not Falcom) did a fanstastic Job.
Search "Plight of the Fan Translator" to find English translation patches and search for "The Legacy of Ys" to find the "Alternate Soundtracks" which are actually the music from the Turbografx CD versions.
I don't care WHAT version of Ys II it is, the opening theme "To Make the End of Battle" is ALWAYS amazing!

I know Nihon Falcom for another game: Brandish for the Super Nintendo (published in America by Koei).

The also did Faxanadu and Legacy of the Wizard for the NES and Popful Mail for Sega CD.

Isn't Dragon Slayer (which LotW is part 4) one of those series that suffers Final Fantasy syndrome anywhere else but Japan?

Actually, they did Popful Mail for the PC-Engine.
Sega did the Mega-CD version.
