Baby oil should never be sued anywhere near liquid latex, as it attacks the rubber, and Molding(Derma/Mortician's) wax should be built directly onto the skin, but never for professional use, and never around the mouth as it's not durable...

Derma wax is only to be used on bony , non-moving parts of the face.....

Get what, the molding wax? Try a costume shop, or go on-line. Go for something more professional, which is often pricier, but worth it.

He molded and sculpted the scars himself, so if you're artistically inclined, woot. If not, try looking for a cheap Halloween prosthetic to copy or use in it's place.

There's a costume shop in Grand Rapids, MI called Theatricks, which is pretty amazing for things like that.

When using spirit gum, ALWAYS do a tester on the back of the subjects hand. If you put this stuff all over there face and they have an allergic reaction to the spirit gum. Its guna be one unpleasent time for the subject.

SO NOT TRUE! you have to make it seem as if it is really your own skin that is scarred, and not that you have something glued to your face. You have to make sure the lines at the edges of the molding is perfectly fastened to the skin without any spaces or opening gaps. I am sorry...professional my foot!

I agree with everything you say. It doesn't matter if you're gonna fling a tonne of paint over the top, prosthetics are a fine art, not a quick muck up job with a lump of wax! Something like this would have required a gelatin piece cast from a sculpt off a face cast. For a professional of longer than I've been alive, he sure knows less than me...how the hell does one get a license for makeup art anyways? I thought it just required skill and talent?

I did work with a girl who had bruises, a slash across her face, and another with a gash on her throat and head ((we were doing a drunk driving enactment called Every 15 Min))---and let me tell you, his work is crap! Those scars he made were very wrong as well when it comes to the way scars heal! Haha sorry, this man is someone i just want to take my FX box and slap it upside his head!

At the London Dungeon, the actors have to have realistic cuts, grazes, burns, bruises etc. done in minutes before the doors open, so a decent injury does not take long, does not use nearly as much makeup as that, and doesn't take a genius (we have to teach the actors to do it themselves for Christs sake, and they're no Rembrants...)
