  • Very nice.

  • Very very very well covered.

  • @livedetroitbeer Thanks

  • I wish I can play just like you!

  • My favorite song off Morph

  • I love this song

  • this song ranks along the best sd tracks - poignant & beautiful

  • well done. Fagen is a genius. You've played us a bit of genius... and you played it beautifully.

  • Nice feel..gr8 chords...thanx

  • Mind-blowing. Perfect.

  • @marcusadler Thanks buddy :)

  • Seconded!

  • I love this, well done. I love Donald's stuff and The Dan's. I keep playing this vid as I enjoy your rendition of this track so much. Wish I could play so I could just come home from work and play these songs myself, very therapeutic I would imagine. All the best.

  • Very Nice! I got the morph alblum for chrstmas, I love it, one of his best!! You have done a nice job on this song. Can you play the song gaucho, thats one of my favorites!

  • You're cool!!!!

  • Beautiful. what key is it in?

  • can you list the chord changes?

  • I just love it when I hear that young people have discovered Steely Dan and Donald Fagen music.

  • @zorak1704 Absoluetly, I started listening to Steey/Fagen about 15 years ago, and turned a lot of my friends on to them as well. If a kid from the mean streets of Youngstown, Ohio can develop an appreciation for such wonderful music, there is indeed hope for our youth!

  • @youngstownsfinest1 I was born in Youngstown and raised in Warren.

  • @zorak1704 I know a great song called Warren

  • @zorak1704 name some one that can hang with his chord progressions in popular music

or any artist with cooler chord progressions for that matter.

    You cant!!!!

    Donald is that dude!

  • Now that medicine bowl really looks like something that would be on a Dan ALbum for some reason. Was that intentional?

  • love it

  • I'm only 15 but I love Fagen He is the man...I can sing pretty much every track from steely dan's "can't buy a thrill" (1972) to gaucho (1980)...their early stuff is so awesome but I havent listened to their newer stuff...Fagen and Becker try to keep their same sound i can tell....

  • wonderful job, pal. I wish we could play together.

  • Me too, what part of Italy you from

  • I live in Naples, southern Italy. Where are you located?

  • this track off of morf is my all time donald fave...All emotions captured in one song, loniness, sadness, happiness,

  • I would agree about the emotions.. very Fagen. Whilst I wouldn't go so far as to say it was my favourite, i agree

  • @TTLTOY1 I can understand why man...I feel like Im one of the only cat that plays Two Against Nature..Everything must Go..Morph..I love to hear Im not alone.. it is so sad and beautiful at the same time...he always ties in those emotions and it always amazes me...the despair "when shes daaannncing all around...40 Floors aboooove the city...cd spinin"...A/C hummin"...feeelin Preeetyyyyyy!" His imagery is second to none!

  • @TheKidstarj and even the things you dont understand you are stuck there trying to decipher

    helll of a writer!!!!!

  • Morph the Cat is just plain amazing. I'm 12 years old, but Donald Fagen is my favorite male singer. Hes just so good! ^^

  • I didn't get into DF until I was about 18, I wish I knew about him and SD when I was your age!

  • The guy who put this up, although a good player, might have taken some pains to ensure a bigger, warmer sound, than to just post this, having used an onboard mic. Come on, dude, if you're smart enough to cop so many of the great chords and movements of this wonderful song, why not go all the way and make sure we're hearing your rendition through something other than a crappy mic?

  • If I had the money to do so I'm sure I would!

  • I LOVE morph the cat, one of my favorite new records, for sure

  • Great stuff mate, beautiful rendition. When are you gonna upload the rest? If my band Samuel Purdey go back on the road or record again i'll know who to call.

  • man, you are creating some king of addiction for some of us...

I keep looking for new donald fagen uploads... put HEY NIENTEEN on your list..

  • yeah negative girl was a bitch lol

  • i've tried to get this stuff down, but kinda failed, esp on this album! but mate you have a great ear. im jelous!

  • i must say the later stuff on here and esp 2 against are more difficult... but it kinda makes it more fun aswell :)

  • From Spain...thanks for your videos, really helping me not to loose hope of playing keyboard by ear someday. What make the Donald fagen sound so recognisable? can you explain chords construction..

  • I think if I had to say one word it would be 'density'. Fagan tends to create very dense harmonies. I find them really pleasing to play on the piano because they are so rich and it feels good to stretch the fingers. They tend to sit well under the fingers. Oftentimes there will be no dropped notes (or very few) from extended harmonies, for instance a 13 will literally be 1,3,5,7,9,11,13!! But of course voiced more interestingly. Glad you are enjoying the videos and they are useful!! :)

  • Thanks again.

Hey Nineteen... would be great. May I ask you to play it? maybe easier but still pure fagen... thanks in advance.

  • Perfect!

  • Thank you for listening!!

  • Brilliant as usual.

  • Thank you!!

  • That's awesome man. I'd like to see you play some more on Morph. Where or how do you learn these songs?

  • Thanks yeah I do plan do do a couple more, I'm just so busy with work lately I hardly get to play :( i just listen to them and play actually, I don't like sheet music

  • Nice one David, since I'm trying to pick some tricks i appreciate the angle of the camera, cheers!
