The wrecks of 1994, 2000, and the 2001 Daytona 500 are responsible for the fact that many of today's drivers are still alive. Loy Allen is to racing as Lily Allen is to pop music, a great talent who has a much shorter career than what the talent would allow.
Although 1994 was a bad year, we learned a lot of lessons from that year. Because of that, cars are much safer now (for instance, F1 teams changed their body designs for the 95' season after the events at Imola) Since 1994, a lot of drivers' lives have been saved
fuck 1994 motorsport...however saying that - it probably saved the lives of hundreds if not thousands more across the world because of safety improvements.
Man, Ken Squier really knew what to say in a time of tragedy such as this after the death of Neil Bonnett.

Not to mention Rodney Orr's death at Daytona and, in Formula 1, the tragedies of Senna and Ratzenberger at Imola. Quite bittersweet indeeed.
