Of course when compared to the Insurance Company Administrative costs (including huge bonuses awarded to execs) the amount awarded as damage for malpractice is small indeed.

Still the Ins Companies told us in Texas if we limited the amt that could be obtained in damages then Insurance Rates would go down (of course they didn't)

We were also told if we made sure everyone had car insurance the rates would go down (of course they didn't).

What started this was the administration telling the GOP and the insurance companies that they will accept any plan (even without a public option) that meets the same criteria = lower costs and access to all.

If you think the GOP and insurance companies are going to come up with a plan that lowers costs (translation = less profit) and provides insurance to all, then you're dreaming.

That's why the public option is still on the table.

The reason the Public Option is back on the table is that a petition is going around in the House that has already been signed by about 75 members stating they won't vote for a bill unless it has a Public Options

They'll only have to get about 10 Senators to sign such a petition in the Sen to make a strong statement there
