I've seen every episode and movie, but once I got into SG1, my interest in trek pretty much died. I havent seen a trek ep or movie in 3-4 years, and I was losing interest for a couple years before that.

Yeah im for anything that changes the course of histroy so people can watch star trek again in joyfulness. They should make it so that 1/3 of the federation is trying to become something like the borg and the other two thirds are fighting each other while trying to stop the advancement of the borg people. That plus the alien races would be a large enoth plot. Who knows mby I called it and the movie makers will x me out now lol. Wasn't trying just thought it would be cool.

i also have reason to believe that the Mirror universe has something to do with this plot. if you look at spocks uniform shirt the 1:41 time frame his insignia badge is on the right side of his shirt instead of the left where they normally are

yes...when the original piolet to star trek was made in the sixtys Christopher Pike was the captain of the enterprise. the second piolet that was made featured Captain Robert April. it was the third Pilot that CBS accepted that captain Kirk was featured as captain of the enterprise...Woah...my nerd is really showing now :P

You know the whole point of this movie is that some bad guy went back in time and changed the whole time line in order to bring down the federation killed Kirks parents to, no wonder it is going to be different. It is really smart if you think about it because after this movie, we will be left with a whole new timeline (that is if of course they don't solve the whole time line problem in the movie)

I am still a huge star trek fan, but I think this new idea will chase away the old fans.

I don't think it will bomb. I think it will be a huge success to the non-fan viewers. Die-Hard fans will be dissapointed. Star Trek as never been blockbuster material, but this movie will try so hard... Makes me sick.

I agree, star trek(original series) was great in it's day, but the general path of trek has gone farther and farther away from mainstream culture and more and more into the geeks territory. Certainly it attempted to appeal more to a mainstream audience with less technobabble and more violence(DS9) and sex (voyager and enterprise), but it was still at it's core the same. I think this could be a successful reboot, taking the basic idea and making it appeal to a modern fanbase.

i am an absolute die hard fan of Star trek since i was a kid. My god...im in love with the trailer. and to the person that made the comment about the child kirk...if you watched the deleted scenes of generations...kirk was somewhat of a thrill seeker. and Duh of course its going to be revamped quite a bit...1960's as opposed to 2009 technology? this is not a spoof. its backed by paramount. and i anxiously wait for its release.

When I saw this Trailer, I saw no Problems with it.

But when the Kid jumped out of the Corvette, Slid it off the Cliff, and Caught himself on the Edge of the Cliff, I knew something was up.

And once he told the Cop he was James Tiberious Kirk, I thought something may not be right.

But it was OK.

Everything seemed fine, until they showed the Enterprise being Constructed in a Corn Field.

Thats when I Call SPOOF on J.J. Abrams Movie.

And the Ship looks too New to be Authentic.

Ok, here's my Take:

I was a die-hard Voyager Fan in the Mid-90's.

I was Also into the Enterprise Series.

Now, the Enterprise Series shown a Fully-Accurate Constitution-Class Starship, called Defiant. (Not DS9: Watch the Ent: Season4)

Star Trek is Known for its Accuracy.

Even if you overlook what what they did to the Enterprise, it is Still depicted as being Built in a Corn Field.

And the New 1701 looks like a Next-Generation Starship, like a 1701-F. Like, after the Enterprise-E!!

Any Trek is good Trek. I guess I'm just not a spoiled Trekkie who has to have everything be a certain way. Just because Abrams or any other director or producer didn't read the Star Trek Encyclopedia front to back a million times doesn't mean they didn't make a good show or movie. Just calm down and try to enjoy what MIGHT BE a good story.

I can already tell this is going to be shit. The original Star Trek wasn't about all this flashy CG-porn action bullshit, it was about Space Exploration. The 'Final Frontier', as they even called it and coined the phrase. Space Exploration is arguably far more interesting than "CHARGE PHASERS LOL". This is taking it in a direction that I'm not willing to follow.

Have fun with the Star Trek equivalent of Star Wars Episodes I-III.
