As an African Muslim, I cannot agree fully with Dr. Clarke's views/opinions but he is right in some ways. Coming from an approx 100% African Muslim country, the Arabization of Africa is not new to us at all, but I don't like that term at all - because it gives so much credit to one race of people, esp. when the Arab of today is much much more diverse than the Arab of old. Spirituality is not the exclusive domain of any culture, religion, or race. While you can make some generalizations, having visited Nigeria I can attest to a very spiritual inclination in most of its population, it is also the most openly corrupt country I have ever been to, having traveled extensively, my own family is from Paraguay. That being said some of Nigeria's biggest problems stem from religious intolerance, both from Christian's and Arab's alike, especially towards traditional faiths.

Spirituality is not the exclusive domain of any culture, religion, or race. While you can make some generalizations, having visited Nigeria I can attest to a very spiritual inclination in most of its population, it is also the most openly corrupt country I have ever been to, having traveled extensively, my own family is from Paraguay. That being said some of Nigeria's biggest problems stem from religious intolerance, both from Christian's and Arab's alike, especially towards traditional faiths.

When I refer to angels and devils I speak in metaphor, not wings and horns literally. That's from experience. While in Nigeria I was both exalted by the sincerity of peoples connection to God(Gods), I was also scammed twice by money changers, and was robbed at gun point. The Qur' an says that there has never been a people that Allah has not sent a message to. It says that some we are told about and some we haven't been told about. Therefore with that statement you can only conclude that he sent the same message to Afikans before. Allah says this is the same message I sent before.

Also the men around prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were of diverse origins. Bilal (Ethiopia), Salman Al Farasi (Persian). He said in his final sermon that the Arab is no better than the non-Arab. Nor the white to the black or vice versa.

did religion start in Africa? yes, i think it almost certainly did, because Africa was populated for a long length of time before any other continent and it doesn't take very long for people to cook up a religion. but as far as i am aware the earliest definite precursor to the mane modern monotheistic religions is probably zoroastrianism. when people constantly focus on their race their ego transfers to it.
