I actually like the way Katie Rose Clarke talks here better than Kelli O'Hara....it more sounds like the way Clara would talk in her childlike voice....it has a more naive quality to it.....
Aww.....I love how Margaret kisses Clara at 0:26.....I wish Margaret Johnson was my Mom......Wait who am I kidding.....I wouldn't trade my Mom for anything in the world!!!!
OK, I'm dreaming BIG: Ang Lee is directing the film version of Light In The Piazza. He pledges full allegiance to the Adam Guettel score, and if his visual style is anywhere near as stunning as Brokeback Mountain, we're in for a rare treat! (... alas, it will never come to pass.)
Yeah it is, and it isn't a musical. Never the less I love the movie just as much as the musical. And I'm sure that they have the musical on DVD cause it was on PBS.
Does anyone remember Christine Andreas playing Margaret on tour? Not to divert from Queen VC (adore her!), but Ms. Andreas' voice was drop-dead gorgeous.
I love Clara's note on "from the heart". its just a pop of musical beauty. it hits you pretty fast and takes you by surprise. and Katie performs this role very well
I was thinking and I watched the movie of Light in the Piazza. I feel Katie portrayl is more in line with the portrayl in the movie with the innocent/childish nature of her Clara.
Random little bit but i've always loved when Clara reaches out and fixes the old man's hat, as though she doesn't like how it's sitting for her picture. Adorable!
thank you for posting. been searching for a copy of this for ages. have you ever considered puting a playlist of this on your user page with everything in order if you havent done so already?
As wonderful a voice as Katie is, I have to say that Kelli O'hara is slightly better. Katie however brings out more emotions of the character through her performance.
I compleatly agree! I had the privilage of seeing both of these women in the part of Clara on Broadway, and I must say, I enjoyed Katies performance much beter than Kelli's(although I love her, my heart belongs to Katie!)

i love this show and Katie Clarke is really good but she doesn't hold a candle to Kelli O'Hara.

Victoria is amazing. Such an incredible performance as a mother who has such conflicted feelings.

Where did you get the information about it being made into a movie? Is there a website where I can see something about that?
AvidActress007 2 years ago
Nope ... it's all in my head. That's why I started out by saying "OK, I'm dreaming BIG." Sorry if I got your hopes up. But wouldn't it be nice?

I think it's a movie already!

Right U R, from the early 60's, a non-musical .. and that version is unavailable for other reasons ... lack of interest?? Not by me!
