  • DUDE my views exactly

  • I stumbled upon this video and thought they made some interesting points that sadly seem to hold true even more today, but I can't help getting the impression they're making a joint statement for the cameras. Harsh as it may sound I think they too stopped make truly creative, progressive music sometime in the late 70s (at least as a group). I would love to be proved wrong though. Btw didn't the conflict between Emerson and Lake have to do with Lake wanting to go in a more commercial direction?

  • @ootwiabd , who the heck knows what Emerson and Lake fought about. Emerson was a musical genius. I loved ELP but I always thought Lake should have been the major focus of that group with his ballads and his fantastic voice. I'm sure Emerson would not and still wouldn't agree with me.

  • @rmtmiller when I saw your reply I actually had to look what I had written and I right now I can't see much point in either my comment or your reply. In this place of random insults and rantings I find it's best to just enjoy the videos and music, but that evening I must have been bored. My point was not to bash their musicianship, certainly not Lake's voice. I just feel they were capable of a lot more, had they not limited their way of thinking. I can elaborate or just leave it at this.

  • You've got a shit username IwshIcldstrtover

  • It's a shame these people EVER met each other

  • You're an idiot, xpinkdog!

  • Yeah, ELP is so amazing that they deserve to have clones made to be spoken to. It's impossbile to dislike them. I particularly loved Black moon, but Karnevil 9 was AWSOME!!! It sucks 2nd impression wasn't as popular, but oh well.

  • Such memories here too. Saw CalJam in 74--during their heydays. Saddened when they split, but reinvigorated when they got back but with Powell. When Carl came back, the show they put on was phemoninal. And Keith was correct. Music lost its origniality when record companies went corporate. The artistic side was pushed aside. I'm glad I was a fan of an artistic rock group. Thank you for the memories Keith, Greg and Carl.

  • Sad, you will NEVER see a band like ELP

I was so lucky to have saw them live alot over the years

  • I was a piano student and Keith Emerson was my idol. These guys were so incredible. There were never be a band like them again. They don't receive near the acclaim they should.

  • think they love the business (performing, i mean) as much as we love them- wish i'd bumped into elp, in a flood, a storm, anything!

  • For all true ELP fans, get Emerson's autobiography "Pictures of an Exhibitionist" and read all the amazing backstage and private details of his life through the Nice and ELP. I never knew that Emerson and Lake really disliked each other so much. Lake did not appreciate Emerson's amazing creativity in Tarkus and Karn Evil 9. He preferred ballads. I always thought that all the wires and cables and TV screen on the Moog were just for show and theatrics - not true. Great book about a genius.

  • Just bought the book of Keiths over Christmas' doing some reading over my holidays i adore Greg lake and watched their DVD with my brother new years Eve,I know I won't be able to put it down once I start,

    Thanks for feedback,Cheers

  • Very astute comments made by the band. They were my idols when I was growing up. I'm sorry that they're gone, but the music and their talent is forever.

  • They're not "gone" in that sense of the word - just not together any more.

  • I meant that the band, their greatness, and their popularity with current listeners is certainly gone, as ELP admits in their comments. Today's generation doesn't know what they missed.

  • You're right,Motley--it was really a high point to meet the greatest musical heroes ive ever had--we pushed their car out of the flood, and they rolled down the window of the limo so they could thank us, and we wound up talking to L&P for awhile--still listen to them at full volume at age 53!!

  • I have seen ELP every time they came to New York from 73 to both nights at Radio City in the early 90's, and their performance was flawless every single time! We also met L & P in New Jersey When their concert was cancelled due to a tornado which destroyed the stage and their equipment in early 70's--their limosine was stuck in a flooded street right next to my flooded car, and we helped push their limo out. No other band has ever been in their league, and no other band ever will be. period.

  • Ha, that must have been something for you, like a kid meeting his baseball idol. Wow! I agree with you, I saw them 3 times--late 70's to early 90's---great each time. They are the most powerful trio in Rock music history, and always will be. There will never be another band like ELP---ever.

  • Guys, you shouldn´t forget, that Greg Lake lost most of his voice and Keith Emerson had three surgeries on his right hand, that unfortunately never will be the same as it was. And the next thing: of course they are right. Listen to Frank Zappa: monkey business!

  • The beginning of the 1992 Black Moon tour was poor, I agree (I was at the GW show also). But, by the time they came back in 1993 to the Orpheum in Boston, they were definitely firing on all cylinders. I don't know of any other groups that they've criticized - that's news to me. They've thrown jabs at the current music industry, but which older groups haven't?

  • Dude, Black Moon was awsome! They sounded like a fricken orchestrae! Also, Greg lake was playing bass, harmonica, and vocals in one song, and they're FAR better than crap like insync, jonahs brothers band, green day, and other garbage being crapped around today.

  • This tour sucked bad. I hated every minute of it when they came to Great Woods. They're quick with criticism of other acts, but they're a pale shadow of what they once were.
