Most kids just don't care and parrot it. @M15CY the original pledge of allegiance doesnt even includes the words "under god". It was pushed in 1954, during an era when communism and such was a concern and fear, by the church. If they just revert it back there should be no problems. I agree fullt with the person that uploaded this. This pledge is a pledge to the flag which stands for our nation and the we stand for liberty and justice, which in fact we do. that liberty is allowing him to speak him and gay ppl to speak and protest.

The flag is the flag. It's a hunk of cloth that represents America and all it stands for, both good and bad. Apparently this kid understands that by pledging allegiance to this flag, one is not only saying "I support what is right and good with this country", but also "I support what is wrong with this country:" So amen to this kid for refusing to make a tacit allegiance to policies he doesn't agree with by standing (or sitting, in his case) against the symbol for them.

I think the main issue is that a 10 year old is basically holding his breath until he sees what this country should be and THEN will agree with it. And until it meets his satisfaction, he won't participate in the Pledge.

YET, he enjoys the freedom of speech all Americans are rightful to, and in the same action, opposes that same Democracy.

Like I said in the sidebar, if he has a problem with this issue, it isnt the FLAG that takes away that right, but the Supreme Court.
