I was using music from my Youtube playlist over my Dota 2 gameplay, it got muted. I told them that I was just using music ON youtube, they un muted the video, I log in today and see a strike with my account WTF?.

To expand on this tutorial, I have a little advice to give: Don't bother disputing claims by Fox or Sony Music. They will not back down. With WMG or Universal, you have a better shot. Some companies will back down and some will not. It's kind of a roll of the dice.

Also, don't waste energy blaming YouTube. It's not going to effect your account status, it's just a waste of time. YouTube has no choice in the matter. If a company demands that they take a video down, they have to do it or get sued.

@BWQBTutorials It depends on whether or not the video had a claim on it for the clips or for the music. If Fox was the company that backed down, great. Then again...ask any Glee vidder. Fox is on the rampage with those and will not back down. However, they may have given up on worrying about Buffy because it's so old now. *shrug*

It's nice to see someone do this with fan videos. I'm really honestly nervous about doing this...but like I have a strike for videos I deleted or don't even exist anymore (one showed up from 06! 0o; That wasn't there before) but giving them the info makes me a bit sketchy... .-.;

@VAinoMinako I honestly don't think anything will happen to your account if you dispute this i just put that warning in, in case, i have never heard of anything happen to anyone who disputed a strike, cause your not making money from fan videos, so i really don't see how they could sue you either, cause your not saying you own the clips or the song, you own the editing.
