  • I would have invested in it. Great idea!

  • Saw this on the History channel and this dude Gould have gotten picked up! It's a great idea

  • I just saw this on TV and the dudes rejected it. Im buying one!

  • I play the bass, bass guitar!!! what songs can you play someday, beatles songs!!?

  • i actually preffered the box

  • But try bowing on that, It would be a fail.

  • I guess its a lot cheaper than buying a Zorko.

  • u get the best sound from a 44 gallon drum

  • I dont want to sound negative, I love the idea of making a home made bass and all cuz its very creative and gives access to low budget bass. The only bad thing here is the guy on the double bass is playing with that electric bass player technique on right hand, which makes the tone be similar to the box. Also its a great idea for beginners to sell, I just think selling this was actually funny.

  • maann sweet

    preeettyyy goood

  • I recently gave my debut box bass performance at the Fighting Cocks in Kingston (U.K) It was awesome you can see the vid on my profile - we did a tango version of Smoke On he Water! Everyone loved it and I had the best time!

  • Woww, no words...! Great

  • THANK YOU Mr. Bogdon, i got your bass for my dad and he loves it! We assembled it together and now I play bass!!!!!!!!!

  • its almost better than the wood bass

  • i like it better

  • Umm... Upright basses have looked like that since the 1700's...

  • im gona make my own without getting the kit from bogdon.

  • make sure to share a vid on utube when u get it finished:)

  • Will you find 2 strings suitable for it?

  • I found out about this in Bass Player. That is pretty crazy how it sounds so much like an actual bass.

  • ya i also read about it in Bass Player

  • so did i ,but i saw this vid like a year ago,actually i was 1 of the 1st to comment it:D

  • What did you use for stings? and tunning pegs?

  • weedeater strings...and bolts 4 tuning pegs,im gonna buy one 4 the kit its only 70 buks!

  • Sweet!

  • were can you get it? It would be sooo cool to have a bass like that to show off with.

  • i think this is being recorde throu a microphone .... and placed high above the instruments ... that way the double bass doesnt get a proper chance in this comparasion .... but the "alternative" dou ble bass does present an awesome rich sound .... whoever created this ... brilliant mate, brilliant

  • the box definately has more of a cleaner resonance and quicker attack due to the smaller body. the real upright sounds a lot more woofy and has less tonal articulation.

  • nay

  • can u slap on it

  • what kind of strings do you put on that? cuz i feel like real bass strings would break it.

  • Looks like hes got weed whacker string on it.

  • He does

  • I can definately hear the difference. There is something alot rounder and warmer about the sound from the traditional bass. Having said that, I'm very impressed with the cardboard one!

  • It's the volume of space being vibrated. The double bass has twice the space.

  • Can you arco as yell? Or is it all just pizzicato?

  • dammm close in sound if'n ya ask me

  • For the price, this is awesome. 'Coolerdude' obviously wasn't shown enough love as a child or something. I don't see how you can argue with the cardboard box bass. I'll be buying one next month.

  • wont a better bassist make the box bass sound better too? both instruments are equal in sound.

  • ummm...it doesnt really matter, this duel is biased, since both players (upright and cardboard) had horrible intonation, and the upright player obviously hasn't learned how to project a tone like the great players such as ray brown, making the real bass sound very much like the cardboard box.

  • Yup the BOX Bass rocks

  • im makin one, fo sho. playin that thing in the hood, nobody's gunna steel my cardboard box.

  • y are my hero, next $50 i get is goin twords that kit lol

  • OMG thats just so awesome =]

  • Good job. You really hold your own or better!

  • Does the Bogdon bass have two or four strings?

  • I seen a high quality picture of it, its two strings.

  • I think being of cardboard, it just won't stand the tension of four strings. Maybe reinforced with some wood...

  • the neck is wood and it runs the length of the entire body so the cardboard doesnt support the strings

  • awesome! im still amazed by how good you have made this! well done pal, there is hardly any difference between them, well apart from the price :)

  • the differences are more subtle then i imagined! i just might make one of these...
