  • Dropship Command is kind of a dick, huh?

  • This and Dawn of War; Best intro sequences E.V.E.R.

  • anyone else had that glitch where ur enemys fell thru the floor and u couldnt hit them? :/

  • "There is still room in hell for your sorry carcas!"

  • @jbecker8082 Go back and play them again- they weren't as hard as you remember.

  • MechWarrior 4, even with all of its MekPacks from Mektek, will never EVER be this good.

  • wait a sec.........

This game was a big part of my childhood... I have read through some of these comments, and up until now I always thought he said "Team Venom, this is Toxic Command" (which would make sense for obvious reasons) But now I am reading that in the first line he says "this is Dropship Command"????? I may be late on this, but I have to know, which one is it???

  • @supafrozty

Dropship. The 'ship' is clearly enunciated.

  • @DreamTraveller1 damn now my entire life is just a fraud

  • i remember i couldnt watch this as a kid because it scared me, so i just went right to the game

  • Dont mess with Catapults.

  • I would love to date a millitary woman. Imagine she could protect one in every fight or dangerous situation. That would be so awsome.

  • This game made my pants brown when I was a kid. It was fun as hell, but scared me when I played it. lol

  • Dropship command has the perfect voice for "You done goofed."

  • Yeah I am going to keep all the money.

  • Bros don't leave hos behind...

  • Newest Mechwarrior game coming 2012: Mechwarrior Online!!! mwomercs.com

  • Kind of a crappy intro for the best game in the series. I'd slap the intro from the original MW2 and called it good.

  • @ShoShaVirus I rememeber that mission and remember cursing it out to all ends of the earth! It was a bitch to complete, even with help from your lancemates because not only was the Panther stronger in firepower, but almost impenetrable armous... Not to mention you your 'mech was also a piece of crap light or medium!

  • I created my ign based on one of the missions where you have to take on Sasha Virus at point lambda She was the one in the Panther unit I always hated that mission because I never had a good unit by that point god dam you PPCs

  • I don't know if its funnier because she IS a girl??? But I have to say... THAT BITCH GOT FUCKED!!! And hearing her scream too at the end, OMG I was dying in my room laughing!!! XD

  • @jbecker8082 So true..........

  • I miss this game SO MUCH!

  • Honestly that is still one of my favorite lines in a game ever.

I'm not getting paid enough to die. I say that at least once during every match I play.

  • WOOOOOOOOOO. I had mostly forgotten about this game. Somehow remembered it and stumbled upon these videos here on YouTube. Ran out to the garage and found the old original Microsoft Sidewinder joystick in a cardboard box out there, covered in dust. My PC didn't have a compatible port to plug it into (no USB plug on the Sidewinder). That didn't stop me! I salvaged an old soundcard from a junked computer in the garage and got it all working beautifully. Going to install and play now. xD

  • I always wished the dropship captain and his ship was the final boss of this game, you'd get to take revenge on him for killing your leader! But sadly, you have to put up with this anus of a battle coordiantor for the whole game.

  • I always dreamt of getting married to a female soldier while I played this.

  • omg this brings me back i played this when i was 7 lol

  • Awesome intro for a great game. Playing this again, the universe feels so authentic and the choices can be hard at times. I wish wish WISH they would make another mechwarrior mercenaries just like this one... I didn't like MW4 Mercenaries.

  • I gotta say though, I don't quite get the last line...how does she get to keep all the money....did they have some deal or something..I dunno...

  • @stevesan The dropship captain is talking to the pilot of the smaller mech that made it to the dropship. Instead of a two way split between the Commando mech pilot and the Zeus mech pilot, the kid keeps all the money.

And the other pilot gets nothing cause she was left for dead.

  • @wonderboy2402 Ohhh I see. Didn't come too clear to me in the vid, heh.

  • @stevesan =] actually, i remember as a kid getting confused by the dialogue myself.

  • This is just..so good...

  • 8 people never got to keep all the money

  • I love this intro

  • I never beat this game :|

  • @DarkMacross2953

I bet you're the same DarkMacross I was playing mechwarrior living legends with a few days ago!

  • @V8S10Blazer

    Greetings

yeah right, i play this mod. Isnt so bad if i take everytime the same nick :D

  • Every time you watch this, your penis grows 2 inches.

  • A guy that my mom was dating would occassionally send me games that he pirated in the mail.

This was one of those games. I remember him vidly telling me about it and his love for it

When I popped that thing into my Windows 98 computer, I ejected a load from my pants so fierce that...........

    Well, anyway, great game

Loved it when I was 9, still love it today

The disc it came on unforuntately is unresponsive, but I can't bring myself to part with it

  • OneMove - this game was released around 1996

  • How old is this im sure i was like 8 when i played this used to love it.

  • watch?v=RgojYKuYrd4

    Startup sound for cars (MW2)

  • I remember this from when I was in high-school

  • AUTOCANNON!!!!! BAH, I loooooove that sound.

  • in the cinematics the mechs appear to be made of aluminum cans while in the game they can take way more punishment. Did it ever occur to the mech designers that if they hav the technology to make beam weapons that they should just make energy shields instead of just relying on armor

  • @Crimson522 battletech was never intended to be realistic. its missing lots of fci fi stuff like super AI computers and nano tech and the ranges for weapons are just laughable. its a fantasy involving giant robots, that is the main theme here. in some respects its like Europe in the dark ages with knight duels and siege weapons, just everything is a thousand years in the future with dark industrial robotic machines.

  • @huntercd You presume that in 1,000 years time there WILL be nano technology and super AI computers. Who is to say that kind of technology will never be developed beyond what it has now because of a nuclear war or even if humans will still be around in 30 years?

Just because BattleTech is set in a futuristic age with giant robots, doesn't mean that it isn't any feasible than what you say.

  • @Gallowell sci fi means science fiction. fiction is just what i means. personally, i believe 100 years from now, the Earth will be made into a wasteland after WW6. the bulk of surviving humanity will be living on a giant 300 mile big mothership where they fight WW7 with crowbars and lead pipes, as the law demands.

    LOL

  • @huntercd WW6 eh? First we'd need to have a WW3, WW4 and WW5 for a WW6 to even happen and I doubt that there would be a WW6 in just 100 years time. Considering the amount of countries now with nuclear weapons, if WW3 were to break out, then there wouldn't even be a WW4, WW5 or even a WW6, since WW3 with its nuclear bombs would pretty much decimate the planet anyway and leave the human race non the endangered species list.

  • @huntercd the ranges are 'laughable' because it started as a hex-based table top game; you want to measure out 32 hexes for MINIMUM range (aka2 map sheets length) then thats your call; I guess you also have the space for it too. I really dont like people trying to shoe horn btech into fantasy or 'hard scifi' esp. the argument about weapon ranges...in a universe of giant fighting mecha, faster than light travel, and being 1k years in the future! let btech exist in its own 'verse!

  • @Mortarion12 im not against Btech, i was stating what it was. i love mechs!!

  • @Mortarion12 Except in BattleTech there really is no 'faster than light travel'. since that would mean a ship has to travel under its own power. It's more like 'instantaneous light travel', when the jump ships vanish from one star system and appear in another seconds later.

  • @Gallowell Im afraid I dont follow; jumping between two points of space instantaneously IS faster than light; which puts btech in the realm of science fiction. My point was to show that people comment on something like weapon ranges in universe that has giant robots; priorites my friend, priorities. Secondly, the whole thing is science fiction; major emphasis on FICTION, you dont see 40k players whining about the pitiful range of a Bolter, do you?

  • @Mortarion12 Actually, it's more like 'folding' two points of space until they become one, so that the Jump Ship can jump between them without actually having to go anywhere.

  • @Gallowell but is that not still FASTER than light travel? HOW you accomplish FTL is irrelevant, my point was that btech has FTL tech; thus putting it into the realm of soft sci fi as opposed to hard sci fi. Unless the game universe explicitly tells us how a Kearny-Fuchida drive folds space; then its nothing more than a plot widget to allow FTL in the continuity

  • @Mortarion12 Technically, it's not, since in order to travel at the speed of light, you have to have some kind of propulsion system that propels you to that speed.

  • @Gallowell I have half a mind to accuse of trolling at this point; YES you are correct in terms of technical detail. consider this though, you have two points (A & B), it takes you X amount of time to go from A to B. What happens when X = the TIME it takes using the speed of light; and lets say 2 objects(1 & 2) go from A to B. Object One uses speed X, whereas object 2 arrives there instantaneously; who is faster?

  • @Mortarion12 Trolling - everyone's excuse when they don't like a losing debate.

  • @Mortarion12 And you just admitted that I am correct, so end of debate.

Anything else you don't like me saying, well it is as simple as ignoring me, isn't it?

  • @Crimson522 Did it ever occur to the modern designers of nuclear weapons that if they have the technology to make nukes they should just make nuke shields instead of relying on anti-ballistic missiles? o.O Lol. Just because you have the technological ingenuity to make something as an offensive weapon doesn't mean it magically endows you with the ability to use the same mechanisms for defense. We have flamehtrowers but it's not like it's discovery led to "Ice shields" that stopped heat.

  • @Zellig well i just assumed that if you hav the tech to generate the amount of energy required to even fire a particle beam weapon that this would eventually lead to the development of various technologies like energy based defenses....but then again we are 2 idiots on youtube arguing about the developmental philosophy of a technology that doesn't even exist yet on a video from a computer game. so this argument is completely meaningless

  • this one and mechwarrior 3 were the best mechwarrior games yet

  • "If you're reading this, by now you know that I'm dead. The good news is that you can keep your mech and any money we have in the bank. You're gonna need it."

  • @skooma728 You forgot to sign off on it - Colonel Holly Harris.

  • @Vazzaprime is a troll I repeat troll!

  • @shadewing660 VazzaPrime is a troll, or are you warning them about another troll?

  • So much harder to defend than it is to attack. I always hated those types of missions, no matter the 'Mechs my lance and I were fielding.

  • @Gallowell ya i agree there man

  • You know the guy in the catapult was like "LOL"

  • Inner sphere mechs suck mad balls. The clans had the goods.

  • 8 people aren't getting paid enough to die

  • There may be room in hell for their carcass, but there's only about 4 seconds in life for yours, loser!

  • @LordIronHat Draconis scumbag

  • look at the bright side kid... you get to keep all the money

  • I remember working so hard to honor her memory ... after all these years, I still miss her.

    *stirs martini on my yacht*

  • this was fun

  • This was my first game ever. It came free with my first computer. I think it was 1995-1996 when I was like 11. I would play this game so much sometimes at school I pretended to be a mechwarrior robot and walk around the school corridors like one with my arms straight as if they were huge guns. Every saturday morning I would wake up and the first thing I would do is go to my computer and play it.

    Good times.

  • i remember during the summer when i was a kid, i stayed up late playing this game

  • Comment removed

  • 7 people didn't know about superfunkicalifragisexy

  • that was the best game ever!!!

  • ill take this draconis scumbag!.............fuck

  • Makes me think about that I really wants to date a female soldier..Who can defend me against attacks..

  • @EuromanMovieReport fucking pussy coward shit

  • @VazzaPrime you know in some cultures that its the women who are the warriors?

  • @EuromanMovieReport And yet it doesn't change the fact that you want to hide behind a girl and let her do your fighting for you. I repeat: fucking pussy coward shit.

  • @VazzaPrime I guess you can't see irony when its infront of you...

  • @EuromanMovieReport And what, exactly is the irony of it?

  • @EuromanMovieReport Dude lol you're fighting with a troll. They lurk YouTube looking to start fights. You're giving him what he wants the SNOT.

  • @IanWilson2010 Actually no, I am simply questioning him on why he thinks that way, and since he hasn't given me any satisfactory answer, it doesn't validate his comments at all.

Yourself though, you seem itching to start something, since you've decided to throw yourself into a debate which doesn't concern you. So I'm left wondering - who is the real troll?

  • @EuromanMovieReport

hehe totally agree with you ;)

  • can still hear daniel wilks goin cowboy over the comms when being ordered to attack... "its goin down!!!"

  • Just imagine being there in that mech, watching that ship lift off without you, and realizing that absolutely nothing is going to save you from death...

  • @Cryssoberyl those were good times back in the day

  • Look at the bright side kid, YOU get to keep alllll the money!

    love it.

  • The mechwarrior/battletech franchise was THE best mecha franchise in the 20th century. I have all copies of the mechwarrior pc games!!!!!!!!!!

  • @theasianboy99 Good on you. I have all of the first edition BattleTech novels (not that 'classic Battletech' re-published crap. All bar 3 are in near mint condition.

  • My favourite Mechwarrior game... I think I still have the CD somewhere...

  • 7 people were trying to prevent the recon data from escaping

  • @kakabukkake0 No, 7 people were Draconis scumbags. lol

  • fuckin nerd

  • @trollingtheweb ...yeah.

  • oh my I remember this when I was like 12, now I still blow my load to it

  • @freedomsoldier187 Me too... except I'm a girl... but seriously. Why isn't this game still available?!

  • I miss this game so much..Something about games today are too real. This was just perfect.

  • Man, these were the days, this was my favorite game as a kid

  • What does Dropship Command say at 1:14? It sounds like "Secure dropship door" but I can't tell for sure.

  • @frogjedi4

I'm pretty sure it's, "Secure for orbital burn."

  • @frogjedi4 "Secure for orbital burn."

  • I'll never understand how the pilot of the Commando (you) survived a direct hit from an Arrow IV artillery missile from that Catapult. Especially after sustaining fire from the Atlas.

  • Commando, Zeus, Atlas, and Catapult at the end.

  • omg this was like my fav game ever. thanks for the upload. good memories. i use to like to camp on buildings and use those super long range missles and go into missle camera view to take out mechs.

  • @gasdfw5

    Agreed.

  • when she died it made me so sad =(

  • @best360gamer A commando is the small one the large one is a80 ton Zeus

  • @best360gamer I think that the sprinting one was a Commando. As you can see from the commentary... there has been some debate about what the other one is.

  • Why is that warriorwomen are so hot :)

  • this intro was also my first introduction to the MechWarrior universe about 13 years ago.

  • That Atlas she one-shots resembles a Vindicator more than an Atlas, but oh well! Holly's piloting a Zeus (I believe), used to think it was an Annihilator, but it's got the big shoulder pads, so it's gotta be a Zeus.

  • Comment removed

  • This game was the JUNK!! :)

  • I love how she one-shots the Atlas.

  • @baalguardian Cockpit shot? Or the Atlas had already taken damage beforehand?

  • @Significantpower

I'm willing to bet Holly used an AC20 on the Atlas.

  • For some reason the intro video for MW-Mercenraries was a LOT better than the end video...

  • This and Mech4 Mercs were my favorites

  • Check my channel for a Let's Play in Progress :)

  • Atlas vs Battlemaster epic. Haha poor little guy running from an Atlas... I would shit myself if that happened to me.

  • @SirZelaroth You do know that was a Commando and not a BattleMaster, don't you?

  • @Gallowell I'm not talking about the guy running i'm talking about the commander attacking the atlas which is a battle master isn't she? Then I talk about the commando running from the Atlas in my previous comment

  • @SirZelaroth Alright, icomments do get confusing at times.

I at least think Holly is piloting a BattleMaster. I never was able to tell exactly what type of 'Mech she had.

  • @Gallowell

    Holly piloted a Zeus.

  • @blackyoshi1230 That was NO Zeus.

  • Man, I remember I finished a mission in this game by squirming across the ground with one leg back to the dropship. I definitely haven't played something like this in a long time.

  • hardest was that fking iceberg in space... the surface was tricky fighting 4-6 mechs inside solo was a BITCH

  • @leedsm18 That was one of the few missions in the game which had the worst bugs - on the few times that particular mission DID load for me, I never had any trouble with the inside 'Mechs.

If you want to be smart, never take a 'Mech into a space op and 'Mechs + jump jets = royally screwed.

  • "Your out of time! I'm not getting paid enough to die!"

  • I remember playing this game on like windows 98 or something. Could never figure out how to beat recon missions.

  • @agm2004 i could figure out how to beat the Game! god i miss it, 10 years ive never been able to play it

  • the most Bad Ass pc game ever!

  • My god, the memories of playing mercs. Got my first taste of this game with a demo on my friends computer. I played the demo constantly until I bought the game...and my own computer :)

  • I was rly excited about this game in the 90s when it came free with my HP comp :)

  • These were the best Mechwarrior games ever made. Microsoft messed them all up......

  • that was really corny and pointless

  • @micksquizzy somebody either has no understanding of the Battletech universe or doesn't care, frankly your pointless if you like mechwarrior and not the awesome vids that go with it. Also it wasn't corny unless you mean the voice acting sounded a bit static, yeah everyone but the commando pilot was scripted for sure but the vid is awesome

  • @AmarusShowers well theres your opinion and my opinion

  • @AmarusShowers you also have take into consideration the year this came out

  • @micksquizzy

    not really.

if you want to hear some corny dialogue, go watch some MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries videos. now that's cheesy, corny and everything in-between.

  • @stupidwapdaggo Indeed. The accents make it even worse.

Peter Steiner-Davion: "You are ze anvil and I am de hammar."

Vlad Ward: "May ze visdom of Kerensky be made evviedant in battle."

Than there are the Clanners that make accents that match the origins of their Bloodnames... and one of them changed genders mid mission.

And finally you have the player character's horrible attempts to be funny.

Only real good voice acting in that game was Duncan Fisher (tournament commentator).

  • 1) I wish there was a transcript of this intro. Some of the dialogue sounds really cool but obscured by the combat. Certain lines have always eluded me.

    2) "Drop Ship Command" sounds like Guss from Rooster Teeth. ;)

  • @PaladinHero It's better when you can't hear all of the dialogue. More like being in a real combat situation.

  • @Gallowell Eh, that's true to an extent, but I played the game so much back in the day; I had my fill of that certain type of experience. It would be cool to finally get the whole picture dialogue-wise.

  • @PaladinHero

There is a transcript around, you'll find it if you search for example "you're out of time, i'm not getting paid enough to die"

  • @BootedNoob Perhaps if you posted the link, because I'm not getting anything in searches.

  • @PaladinHero For the longest time I thought It was "Toxic Command," that was his code name.

    They're Team Venom too, so.

  • No, no, no. You have to jump on the axe to kill Bowser.

  • I still have the CD and case for this game.

I can't play it cuz it either opens and then closes, or just says "Can't run on Windows NT".

    When i'm using Win 7 ;_;

  • This game was amazingly badass and had like a zillion awesome missions, but if you got the Titanium version it SUCKED. My computer got all laggy and froze up. The titanium edition was literally TOO power hungry for even the best ATI 3D Rage graphics of the day.

The regular version was plainer but at least it worked on most systems of the time. Of course, both versions had annoying problems with the crappy salvage rights and USELESS pricey aerotech fighter pilots who won't do shit on missions.

  • phil lamar is the drop ship commander?!?! you mean the UBS guy from MadTV is the drop ship commander? okay, MWIII intro was better than this ...

  • Comment removed

  • Anyone for Aptiva L or R series computer? My family used to have a 2140-L5H computer (gosh that model number got stuck in my memory and I can't get them off!) and it included Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. Not bad for an ATI Rage Pro 2MB of memory that is integrated into the motherboard.

Now how do I relate zACZkqoNzWA to this video as a video response...?

  • poor commander

  • 0:34 if you look closely at the mech's Visor, You will see what looks like Doomguy's Hemlet Head. which is from Doom.

  • Lol, id hate to be in a commando surrounded by assaults.

  • Another classic. Miss this series. A real shame it went to shit after this one.

  • Ever checked up MWLL?

Their beta is out now BTW.. and free..

of course you need Crysis to run it tho.

  • I got the recon data and ONE PISSED OFF ATLAS ON MY TAIL!

    Gotta love that...

  • @IanWilson2010

Oh that's what she was saying... I was never able to make out that line

  • @NeolightAnon Wow 8 thumbs up. Yeah, I didn't know what he was saying when I was playing but I watched this and heard it loud and clear... :/

  • @IanWilson2010 that's what he says? I've seen this intro lots of times and never could make that out.

  • @IanWilson2010 holy moley i never knew what he said till now

  • @IanWilson2010 those were the good days eh?
