Thanks, like you i remember those sunny days when we were kids watching for that odd loco from another region.I grew up a southern man and nothing will beat for me a bullied pacific leaving Exeter Central running towards Pinhoe but those visitors on a sunny Saturday at St.Davids made you tingle..
Hi and nice to hear your remeniscences. I too shared your viewing of Southern steam at Exeter, I used to buy a platform ticket at Paignton, hide from the guard, and spend the day at St Davids after GWR steam finished. Light pacifics regulary disturbed the track in the middle platform as they spin started for the climb to Central, so there was a team of platelayers who regulary had to work on the platform track! It was exciting stuff!! Alan
Great quallity of work put into here, the Rattery shot was certainly a bonus shot. You did much better than I did at Combe Fishacre as my shot became a write off due to inexperience of handling a new microphone. Never the less it was great to meet up!
Good shot at Coombe Fishacre, however I find it Interesting how you were able to get that shot. My mate went to ask the landowner for permission but they were not allowed on. The Landowner didnt want to know and said nobody was allowed in that field to photograph trains at all. I guess you must have had a prior arrangement then
