  • I really enjoy the consistency you have going from high to midvoice. Very nice.

  • this is the first video i played when looking for an example for this song, and it draws me into it straight away. very nicely done.

  • Excellent.

  • very nice :D

  • perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think this pace is a little too slow for the song, but I think the pace you took it at on your other recording was way too rushed. You have to find a happy medium. this version is slower, but I can hear your diction more and what you're actually saying much better. Just speed it up just a little so it doesn't feel like the song is dragging.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing it did sound like it was dragging. And this is a cheery upbeat song. So i agree with you.

  • pretty nice voice and face.

  • It was a good effort. I would watch the diction of the words. all of the vowels were there, just not most of the consonants, so it was hard to understand what you were saying. I've sung this song before and i agree singing it faster would help in the diction department. And you count and keep tempo with your head and hand, it's very distracting. So just be aware of that. Other than that, you have a beautiful voice and repertoire such as Debussy and Faure are excellent for your voice!

  • thanks for listening to both recordings, again, this one was performed maybe a month or so after I actually started learning it so it's a little... premature?

  • you did really good, but this piano accompaniment is messing you up though...

  • I like this one. Lol, I wish I could sing.

  • You might want to work on ur diction and ur "french accent" for the piece it wasnt believeable...

  • I partially agree and I did mention that in my description

  • agreed

  • Oh p.s. I'm pretty sure this one IS the higher key. It's the one I have anyway...out of the high voice book for Favorite French Art Songs.

  • o thanks, i was confused about the higher key... and if youre doing this for a diction class be carefull with what you hear here, I didnt figure out my brighter vowels etc. till after this recording. all the consonants should be on but some vowels arent quite as they should be. listen to rene fleming, shes not on youtube but if you can get a recording from her somewhere else its good. good luck! hope it all goes well, french is wonderful to sing!

  • There is a higher key available. It's harder to find, but it exists. Not in the "normal" French books.

  • Oh really? Cool. I'll have to check that out.

  • It's another step up from this, which is only a step above the "low" key.. I believe what she is singing is considered "medium" in the other publication.

  • Thank you so much for putting this up here! I have to sing this piece for my diction class tomorrow, and I only found your recording on here. I have to sing it with the CD, so it's really hard to put it together. Good french by the way. Beautiful tone as well.

  • lauren i love you!

  • I would bet you could handle this in the higher key - it would definitely remove the issues with the lower register. Very nice tone to your voice !

  • theres a higher key?! well I would have preferred the higher key, I just didnt know there was one! what is it?

  • There is a higher key -- I believe a step above what you are singing if I remember correctly. I am also an accompanist (and now countertenor)and I have played this for several sopranos in the higher key.

  • Very nice but it could use more expression and some of the words are pronounced incorrectly (personally my own biggest struggle :P). And watch the tics - tapping your hand on your leg in time to the music.

    Beautiful tone though.

  • i love this song. And I think you have a nice voice to work with.

  • plus you just kindof look sad or unemotional when youre singing.. I mean honestly im not one to talk but Im just saying

  • Yes, because we all go to performances to LOOK at the performer. Idiot.

  • well yes actually emotion is very important and it is crucial in a performance-it is part of what makes a performance. I wasn't saying anything bad about the way it sounded but I was just thinking that emotion takes the performance to the next level.. you can feel the music better. Thats what I'm told in lessons at least. As for the idiot comment??

  • Double reply:I agree as to the importance of emotion and involvement in the music. The whole point of performance is to make the music come off the page .. as to looking at the performer, I think alot of people do care about being able to see the source of the music especially because it aids in the interpretation. Imagine opera being sung standing still. Sure we have recordings where you listen and don't look. But I think the majority of people, including myself, would rather see the performer.

  • I think this is awesome.. I dont know why you would say its bad. I like it a lot.. I have to do this song too

  • ye good job man, the words are seriously tricky!

  • it's a lot easier and flowing if you sing it more quickly. watch your diction.

  • Do you mean quicker than this? I much prefer it quicker than this but my teacher keeps saying no (which upsets me) and its near impossible to find a good accompanist than can play this quickly, actually my accompanist here didnt get the music till the night before (she was doing me a huge favor) so youll notice we're off quite a bit haha

  • I adore this song!! You are quite good!
