  • man wish i could find my self something like that here in los angeles . . .ur lucky bro

  • @calpolyBAM You just need to know the right people, get involved in your local chapter of SPAAMFAA and you might be surprised what you could find.

  • Hi again , thanks for the reply, have you and your dad done any work on you fire truck? I have a 48' f-6 brush truck with a 500 gal tank and pto pump and a 56' f600 engine with a mid-ship pump & 1,000 gal tank , the 48 is in nice shape, needs paint and minor body work, 28,000 miles on it and the 56 has 20,477 miles, i've been a f.f for 26 yrs here in Putnam, Connecticut ,these trucks are sort of in the blood. Take care, John.

  • @john6218att Haven't really done any work on the truck in a long time, my dad doesn't seem to have the energy anymore and I'm just not there to do anything (away at college), but I usually work on it when I am home. Basically the truck is patiently waiting until I build a shop of my own to work on it in. Next major project is to get the back axle fixed (leaky differential) but we don't have a garage big enough to pull the axles out of the housing.

  • I have a 29' fire truck running chassis, no pump so I guess it may have been a hose tender or something , going ground-up on it, new patch pieces on the cowl and splash approns runs great and a joy to work on. Those xtra pipes on your engine may have been a type of pump cooling system like we have on regular fire app.

  • @john6218att There's actually only one pipe, it went from the outlet side of the pump to the top of the radiator, my dad always told me it was for adding extra water when the engine was getting too hot. The radiator also has a bigger overflow pipe than normal.

  • Awesome. I have a 1929 Fire Truck myself. Good luck finishing it up. Look up a Model A club in your area.
